  1. Brave leaned too heavily on the rebellious teenage daughter angle + the suitors plot mechanism (outdated/overused), which overclouded/overcrowded what the mother/daughter stuff could have been. He's got to have something going around in his head.
  2. Countdown to 200M -- Wednesday? Countdown to passing Mad3 -- next Monday?
  3. as much as I'm sure he's got a good story to tell, it is a real shame that stanton doesn't have a new equally sellable original idea that the studio could buy into
  4. I assume it'll be a different premise. I wouldn't be surprised if they learn from the mistakes of Cars 2 and ditch a bunch of the original's characters. Maybe a Dory and Nemo team-up. Dying corral prompts a cross-sea adventure? Who knows. When might this even come out? 2016?
  5. in development; after the lorax, you don't think this will at least be a similar hit with family audiences even if it isn't your cup of tea?

  7. I'll repeat: I don't qualify Spongbob the movie with DM, The Lorax, Cat in the Hat, etc.
  8. Will be good if Paramount starts up another studio to replace dreamworks like Universal and Illumination
  9. Don't understand where people get these "should" numbers from; the closest comparison to the type of movie Brave was is Tangled, which barely made 200M (although from a less reputable studio, granted), but also about 50% of Pixar movies made between 180-220M total gross (which Brave will likely exceed at this point). Few Pixar movies do much more than 250M (only FN and UP as originals got very far past that). Brave was never going to match UP or FN. Pissed off at America for making Brave (and I'm assuming it passes the Lorax) the highest grossing animated film since 2010? okay
  10. Close enough that we can ditch the same-day comparisons and start counting down the total gross. No way Brave doesn't finish making up the last few mil in the next 2 weeks. It closed the gap by 7m just over this weekend alone. I'll probably make up 4M or so next weekend, and weekdays this week should cover most of the rest.
  11. Good for Sony, now maybe DW can help their Sony Animation.
  12. I don't think so, even with that drop it had a stronger 3rd weekend than Mad3. It's like 17M ahead in the dailies now.
  13. Quick google search does bring up a dreamworks flick called Tusker, but it doesn't look like it's getting made. Even more so now thanks to Trembo -- can't see it happening. http://www.animation...amworks-tusker/ After a bit more searching: http://collider.com/imagi-animation-studios-shut-down-is-the-adaptation-of-gatchaman-dead/16194/ "Imagi Animation Studios is closing down after being forced to lay off 300 of its employees due to financial woes. The studio launched in 2000 and after doing animation work for TV and in a supporting capacity with DreamWorks Animation’s Father of the Pride (2004), the studio had a moderate success in 2007 with TMNT. Unfortunately, their next film, last year’s Astro Boy opened to disappointing numbers, raking in only $23 million worldwide, which was less than a third of its budget."
  14. Anyhow: Brave is out-pacing Wall-E pretty well by the looks of it, but should start falling behind Up pretty good too. Awesome. I honestly never thought Brave had this much in it regardless of how good. Looked like a Rat/Wall-E max. Here's the BOM showdown: http://boxofficemojo.com/showdowns/chart/?view=daily&id=pixaroriginalssummer.htm you not saying which is the only reason I want to know lol
  15. My friend and I had a good chuckle once about a movie or short where traffic-lights were characters. You know it seems like they plan it when its late at night and you hit every single red light in a row...
