  1. I can't imagine it averaging much worse drops than that. A few higher, a few lower -- that sort of thing.
  2. If it drops at 45% from here on out, where does it end up? Some of you are pretty good/quick with that math. The problem I've always said was it's going to need a fair amount of drops in the 20s and 30s if it's going to have a chance at UP numbers, or even Cars/MI numbers.
  3. "Animation owns the reputation of a frivolous medium suitable primarily for children's entertainment;" Huh. Given how its own of the largest/most beloved genres when it comes to American film, I don't quite get the statement---although most of his article seems critical of animation for television.
  4. to each his own -- but i would never trade the likes of FN, TI, Up for any other type of film.
  5. Do they overperform in other overseas markets? I would blame something along the lines of cultural relativity more (for it grossing so high over there, not for it grossing so low over here).
  6. Problem is, it's pacing was too slow/dull for the audience that finances these films. Wall-E had the components of a much bigger run. It's first half and possibly the green agenda stuff (though I think that was a misguided criticism) kept it grounded in the lower half of pixar grosses.
  7. COMP will have to really hurt it the next two weeks for that to happen
  8. this is the first time i stayed up for numbers since probably UP. I wish I'd gone to bed an hour ago, but kept thinking "already this late, a few minutes more..."
  9. It's up to you and the age makeup of your family. Disney is a pretty full experience with street shows, parades, varied rides, etc. But if you want thrilling roller coasters, that's what all the other parks are made of. My fam is always Disney, but that might change when the kids get older? Doesn't Disneyland charge more for 1 day pass than Six Flags charges for a season-long pass? There's a reason we pay the extra price
  10. I remember a week or two during the early part of this year the top 10 were all rotten
  11. Is no number yet for a 2nd weekend on such a big film potentially a bad sign? Maybe moms across america left dad/kids at home to watch MM, while young adults all went to see TED.
  12. Yeah--Friday thread can be crazy; please post Brave # here once it's out? I don't see any number for it yet except for a pre-friday prediction of 30-35M.
  13. It will hit a fair amount of families with boys and girls. Although true that maybe Mad will absorb more of the blow because its older anyhow.
  14. Next week Spiderman opens mid-week (and spiderman is a very family-friendly flick). Instead of 2 full weeks to its own, Brave only has about a week and a half. It needs a very strong second weekend to hit the heights of what some of you were/are predicting.
