  1. He had a bum dad that cared more about his new GF than the kid himself. I think the mom might have been at the ceremony at the end, but not entirely sure?
  2. I hope something from Brave wins the oscar for Best Song. Animated movies always seem to have the best music.
  3. lol, so you want the chance? I wasn't going to say it, but... Or link me to wherever you'd like to continue if you like. I'm working at my desk all day, and love these types of discussions.
  4. all fair I guess lol Most other Pixar films make all of those elements much more seamless; however, since this back and forth is primarily comprised of me saying that these were weak points and you simply saying that these aren't weak points -- I'll leave it at that? . His storyline functioned in a few ways. Primarily, he was the son that Carl and Ellie never had.
  5. Found this answer on a blog: "Its in the witches cottage while she is talking to Marida on the wood table. It is a small wood model. You only have a couple of seconds to see it."
  6. it better not be in there--unless they remodeled it into a pizza planet cart or something
  7. Fair enough. Just out of curiosity, what were your major holes in UP?
  8. I understood all of that. In fact, those answers simply express the complaint of my questions, not any answers to them. Like I said, I enjoyed the movie a lot. Don't take me wrong, but those weak-points in the story were what held it back from being as hailed as films like Up, TS3 or Wall-E. Again--what TWIST does everyone keep referring to?
  9. Again, what twist? Am I the only one (besides critics) who, although really liking the movie, recognizes that the movie was simply not as well written as past Pixar films? Much of the narrative seemed like it was opened up simply because they needed something, but then they cheated on its conclusion because they realized they couldn't tie it together. Maybe they needed more time? Or it was simply a matter of opportunity cost (run-length). The movie was missing that perfect through-line of Wall-E, Up, etc.
  10. Some of you guys over-analyze this stuff Illumination is batting 1000 right now with its fully animated films. Only other company to start that strong? (hint: Pixar).
  11. Isn't it currently the biggest animated release since Despicable Me?
  12. True enough--I only responded against it because it wasn't simply someone's opinion but the ranking of a legit website (although IGN is gaming oriented primarily, right?)
  13. I, for one, refuse to watch 3D. I can't imagine how anyone would prefer wearing those cheap glasses through the entire movie.
  14. The ship was fine--but fantastic number nonetheless.
  15. I really liked his article, much more so than last time I read an article by him that analyzed this studio.
  16. The list falls apart for me when FN ends up number 7. It's a list ranking them purely against an adult preference. Family film shouldn't be ranked that way.
  17. Up did that well because it was arguably the best computer animated movie of all time. Brave had several story issues with regards to: The story/script was not nearly as tight and perfectly written as Pixar's best works. That said, I liked Brave a lot nonetheless. Might go see it again, which is normal for me + a Pixar movie.
  18. Anyone else think that La Luna was a huge letdown? Pixar shorts really peaked back with Presto And that was all the way back with Wall-E, wasn't it?
  19. Saw it earlier today, but too late to bother writing much. I really liked it, but there were a few story problems + the suitors thing being as old as it is = why it landed where it did on the RT meter.
  20. Am I the only one who thinks it is ridiculous that Sony Animation still struggles to hit 100M, and Illumination out of the box a few years ago is batting 200M on both of its fully animated films?Sony needs a stronger team on the development side of things.
  21. Bought my daughter a brave bow and arrow + dress. Going to the AMC at Disneyland tomorrow
  22. My fam will be helping that Sunday stay strong
  23. KFI is AM 640 Los Angeles. Most of the day is pretty heavy conservative talk radio (just warning you lol). Tim Conway (7-10PM) probably is too, but I only ever catch the end of his show and it's usually entertainment-related and not much politics by then.
