  1. The movie looks much better than it did before--but I still don't see how this will top Incredibles, let alone Up. GI Joe moving will help it's second weekend, but then it has TASM, IA4 and TDKR to cut out the length of its legs. IMO -- fears of a 160-180M gross are pretty well gone, but it still looks like a 220M type grosser to me. and nothing going to change my mind until it proves me wrong.
  2. JL in 2017 --- MoS crashes, hey start over with Hawkman, Flash, Wonderwoman, a new Green Lantern (all good) and then JL bringing superman back into the fold. That could possibly do it (and most importantly--they do not put batman into it).
  3. I made that connection the first time I saw them
  4. Swear? Some of you guys don't sound like you get the family audience at all.
  5. Plenty of us (and our kids especially) will love to see TV specials and more shorts :DAlthough I agree on not doing a 4th movie.
  6. Good Dinosaur does not seem like much of a risk to me...
  7. I forgot how James Cameron started these fairy tale remakes with his Pocahontas one.
  8. 2 of my favorite things---taking the kids to disneyland and taking them out to a movie
  9. saw the latest trailer again in the theatre tonight--now that i'm a few weeks away from the having last seen the early ones, it does look a lot better than it did previously; *higher hopes of buying my daughter a nice doll and taking her out to a great movie in a few weeks
  10. GI JOE moved? How much potentially better can that make Brave's second weekend? (assuming fantastic reviews)
  11. This would be fantastic lol
  12. TA (1st) and TDK (2nd)--- I've never been so hyped for movies and still been blown away by how awesome.
  13. Okay =) I was just pointing out.Is this a convo about how high Mad might reach, or how low Brave might? DW typically only scratches up at the 200M mark, where Pixar occasionally only sags down to it. I think Mad would need to over-perform, while Brave under-perform for DW to win the year. But Mad looks like good fun, and the 2nd one was hilarious. I'm glad things sound like they're looking a bit up for it atm
  14. To be fair, didn't both Cars movies end up winning out their respective years? No reason to make that distinction unless you are referring to something other than DOM gross.
  15. It all depends on the lead actor and the look of the movie + it being good (not sure if we're taking that for granted in a discussion like this?)
  16. Up got the closest since then. I don't see Brave surpassing Up.
  17. What I think TA really helps Marvel now is with the lesser known character, making them able to pull into that 150 range that most of the marvel solo movies make. Doctor Strange for example. When you get to plaster "Marvel's" Doctor Strange, and maybe even say he's one of the next avengers, it's going to help.
  18. Does anyone else think that even if the movie is really good and opens strong (60-70 mil range) that it's legs could be cut out pretty good by the 3rd weekend TASM, 4th weekend Ice Age, 5th weekend TDKR? Drops in the 40s is a big difference from drops in the 30s (which it'll need more than 1 or 2 of to reach the heights some are predicting. Up's weekend drop %s vs what Brave will have releasing: 35% --- Brave's free second weekend 30% --- Brave against TASM 23% --- Brave against Ice Age 4 44% --- Brave against TDKR Ramifications?
  19. 200M opening weekend is more exciting to me and much more "event"like to me than 70 million weekend grosses 10 weekends in a row.TDK was beyond awesome. So was TA.
  20. Horton was smarter, but not nearly as fun. (I would even say Horton was a bit boring, but...)
  21. Absolutely The Lorax was a lot of dumb fun, but a lot of us like dumb fun. And I think Tangled was as much of an investment in Disney Animation's brand as simply just another theatrical release. People loved it a lot more than anything Disney's done in the last 10 years. It was worth the budget IMO--so long as they continue making top notch films and build on it
