  5. Few differences: 1. Main protagonist and the city in BH6 is very Asian vs. the Vikings in Dragon2. Nothing is more obvious than Japan's BO for BH6. (of course this does not explain Frozen's run). South Korea has their own reluctance as they have some mixed feelings against Japan. BH6 did fine in Latin America, except Brazil, but the exchange rate did not favor them. Europe is a different story. 2. Currency exchange rate favors Dragon 2 in some countries, e.g. Russia, LA.
  6. It would be interesting to see a scatter plot of the screentime %age vs. actual BO revenue for import vs local film. That would probably the chart the western studios would show the Bureau that they need more screens. Not that it really matters. But the we can also see what max revenue for a certain screentime percentage

  9. The new version of the popular fairy tale "Cinderella" by Charles Perrault from studio Disney, could lead the Russian box office last weekend. This was reported by the official website of the UAIS, is a federal unified automated information systems. Briton Kenneth Branagh directed the "Cinderella." Lily James, best known for the popular TV series "Downton Abbey", played in the film leading role. The film format was previewed on the Russian screens on March 6. Before the wide release film on March 12, "Cinderella" has collected more than 296 million rubles. Add to that 122 million rubles in the weekend. The second best movie was sci fi thriller "The robot named Chappy," with Sigourney Weaver / Hugh Jackman. The movie opened on March 5 and has collected more than 250 million rubles. Of these, more than 78 million rubles were obtained in the last weekend. At third place, the last week's leader, Russian films "Soulless 2" starring Danila Kozlovsky. The movie gathered more than 73 million rubles in the last weekend. At the moment, the total collection was over 317 million rubles. Heist drama "Focus" took fourth place. Over the past weekend, Will Smith's picture received more than 43 million rubles. After three weeks, "Focus" has collected more than 417 million rubles. The top five was concluded by the Japanese film "The Curse: Beginning of the End". This horror movie collected more than 14 million rubles during its first weekend. Source: http://dni24.com So: Cinderella has about $6.7m, most of it coming from last week.
  10. The dom and foreign releasing fees for these movies might be as big as the ones in the list, about $100-150m. That would significantly cut the profit despite of the low production budgets. But yeah, it is strange that they ignore these movies. I also wonder the profit structure for mid range movies like "the book of life" or the boxtrolls
  11. Where do they put the preview numbers officially? Merge them into friday number or thursday opener?
  12. Terestrial, you can share the excel file in a publicly shared folder in dropbox or onedrive
  13. Deadline put in prediction numbers for theatrical/Home Ent./On Demand revenues, so that number already includes everything - it just depends on whether the prediction is accurate or not, and most likely they are not.
  14. would be nice to have all the movies side-by-side in a spreadsheet. Last year, Deadline missed badly by saying that Despicable Me 2 was more profitable than Frozen. Of course, they did not know that Frozen would get another 200+ million from Japan and a billion from merchandising. Despicable Me franchise is definitely going to be a very profitable venture for Universal in the coming years.

  16. "SOULLESS 2" BECAME THE LEADER OF THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND The Russian film collected about 227 million rubles The first weekend in March ended with the victory of the Russian picture Soulless 2 (UPI), based on preliminary estimates, it was 227 million rubles for four days. The first part collected 161 million rubles OW in October 2012 and 416 million total. All of the output results are approximate and informal. Launched in preview mode, CINDERELLA (WDSSPR) collected, according to our calculations, based on extrapolation of data UAIS, about 170-175 million rubles. In March 8, the film was actually ahead of the weekend leading Soulless 2 (95 million versus 87 million). Another major new release of the weekend, a fantastic picture of a robot named Chappy (WDSSPR), mastered in its first weekend, about 162 million rubles, showing very good traction on the weekend. In general, the total ticket weekend should approach the milestone of 800 million rubles, of which about 46% were expended on March 8. Top 9 films of the weekend 5-8 March (informally, based on Rentrak and SAIS): 1. Soulless 2 - 227 million rubles - $3.75m 2. CINDERELLA (preview) - 170-175 million rubles - $2.8-2.9m 3. 17. Is there a website for Russia daily box office report? Would previews be included in the box?
  18. Well, besides the superhero aspect or the story, one has to wonder whether the rest of the world outside of Asia were ready for an Asian-American protagonist.
  19. What is the description of wide preview? Wide release but counted as preview? How long is the preview?
  20.
