Was hoping Kong would hold better and stay above 4M. Still on track for a $25-$26 million weekend. If it seems the same multiplier as Godzilla it will finish with $139M-140M. I think this is definitely gonna hold better.
What is up with Dunkirk? I have been gone for a few months. Did some new news surface?
It looked pretty mainstream and like a solid hit to me. I mean not 200M+ hit but definitely over 150M.
Anybody feeling like Star War: The Force Awaken's opening weekend is in danger? Because that scene with the birds falling and then........ a plane falling has got me sold. I imagine all viewers of this trailer feel the same. Having such a "holy shit!" moment at the end of the trailer was a brilliant move!
Looking at what people thought Godzilla would do before its release. Lot of predictions were around 60-70M. Godzilla beat predictions by a big margin so I am hoping Kong can do the same and get $70+ this weekend. 80M is too far out there but I feel like 70M is doable
If (or when) this tops $150M it will be a huge feat. The last horror film to top this number (unadjusted) was What Lies Beneath in 2000 $155.5M. The Conjuring just got past the $150M mark in 2013 if you adjust the films for inflation.
