  1. Doesn't matter. Brazilians are big fans of Nolan. That is enough for Dunkirk to do well.
  2. But that's not good enough....Lucy did 42 million in France and had a budget of 40 million. It did very well EVERYWHERE. DM3, as you say will do close to 35M. It has a 80 million budget and has done very well everywhere. But Valerian? It has to make up for its epic bombage in North America by grossing big numbers everywhere including France because it has a 200+ million budget.
  3. I certainly will. Will go on a tirade against American taste if it cracks 25 million.
  4. Doing less than Lucy and Fifth Element (1997) is not good. Will 3d help its boxoffice gross? DM3 has grossed approx 20M in France after 11.4M opening weekend, which is very bad. So Valerian could end up doing only 15M total in France. MAX 20M. That's a flop, right?
  5. LOL @ Besson and his Brazilian distributor for thinking they can take on Dunkirk. Should have immediately delayed it after seeing how it tanked so badly in North America.
  6. her time has passed away. Should have been made back in 2-3 years ago when there was heavy demand for that film. Lucy benefited from that A LOT as public was ready to watch a Scarlett led action pic. Sadly, now the public has moved on.
  7. So that means it's going to do less than Lucy. A list leads would have surely helped.
  8. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/lionsgate-plotting-john-wick-universe-ballerina-action-script-1024318 Thank you Wonder Woman. And maybe Atomic Blonde?
  9. Geez....these movies make ton of money. Good for Gerard I guess. I wish he had 1 big franchise under his belt. Or better yet try and get a role with 5-6 picture deal in Star Wars, MCU, DCU. He will be set for life because those movies make money no matter what.
  10. WB is smart. They know that WW2, if released in the summer will drop domestically like Raimi's SM2 because it really has done the best it could. Releasing it in December will lessen the chances of that happening as it will get those nice winter legs after opening to 120+.
  11. If that was fully true I wouldn't have been as sad as I was after my club succeeded and seeing its numbers everywhere. So buzz off.
  12. OMG. WOW. After reading this, I have no sympathies whatsoever for Besson and Europacorp. They killed their own movie. When a big hollywood studio like FOX or UNIVERSAL is interested in distributing it, you go with either one. Europacorp would have found a partner later anyways without needing to sacrifice Valerian. Everything in that article is exactly what I had been saying, i.e. this needed to release in France first in order to build positive buzz before releasing in US & Canada. So many assinine decisions. Everyone was on substance it seems.
  13. LMAO. Whenever this releases, it would be funny if it out grosses Valerian domestically.
  14. He got D list american leads and most of the other humans were also americans...what's so foreign about that? Now if he had hired French actors as the leads that would have been Foreign. He should have either casted A list leads in this 200+ million budget movie OR gone total french with it...maybe that would have made it more authentic and got France more excited.
  15. I have a bad feeling that Dunkirk + BD combo will hurt Valerian a lot this weekend.
  16. Because they are cool, fun and stylish low-medium budget movies which hollywood had stopped producing for a while in favor of these ginormous 100+ 200+ million budget films. Such movies that get critical praise need to do well for hollywood to start funding more high concept low-medium budget films. It;s good for hollywood, for filmmakers and the audience.
  17. Somewhere I posted that Baby Driver and Logan Lucky NEED to do well at the boxoffice. First one has. Time for this one to deliver in August.
  18. but but....you said Valerian has good wom and is expected to do 10+. I know it isn't enough but still better than Tarzan, Jupiter Ascending etc.
  19. Aha! So in every territory a big theatre chain is supporting this, but not able to get people to watch it. Sigh...
