I have never seen BOM change budget number so frequently. First 180, then 209 and now 177.2. Besson is still working so hard on his film. But like they say hard work does not matter much. What matters is smart work.

Sticking to the date when the entire world knows that this should release AFTER releasing in France cannot be human mistake. It's something else entirely.

So STX was actually thinking of moving this to August, but Europacorp said NO. I wonder who!?! Ego is bad. Very bad. Not sure if I should even sympathize. Like I had been saying for the past couple of weeks, they should have released it in France, rest of Europe and some other countries before releasing in the US & Canada. The negative buzz and articles on its boxoffice is now spreading like wildfire everywhere. People's mind works in funny way. In today's day and age, the general public want to watch those blockbuster movies that either get great reviews and/or is doing well at the boxoffice. Majority avoid watching a flop because they think it must be a horrible movie. Sad but it's the truth.

According to some French users, France isn't all that interested. They are not fond of the supposed changes Besson has made and the actors portraying the lead characters. Most optimistic predictions are 20M total. Basically less than half of Lucy. Its an out and out disaster.

Disgusting number. Should have done $200,000 MINIMUM. I think one thing is confirmed. This is a massive bomb everywhere. If European markets are doing so poorly ( i don't think it will do more than 9 million in Germany..10M MAX) then that tells you A LOT as to how it will do in Asian markets. China ain't saving this. I think $100M OS is max I can see it doing. Did Besson even bother to see whether the marketing is working or called up his distributors to check out how the marketing is? This is doing worse than even JA, Tarzan, Terminator genisys, IDR etc. I blame it all on the D-list repulsive leads.

or it did really bad and everyone involved are too embarrassed to report the numbers. I read somewhere on the main threads that it did 6.5 million from 16 markets that included Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Bulgaria, Czech, Israel and a few more.

Apart from North America, it released in these countries...apparently it did between 3-3.4 million in Germany. So in remaining markets it did 3-3.1 million which is not much. Should have done atleast 10 million considering Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong are Asian markets where such movies open to at least 1 mllion and gross 3+ million if not more. It is an indicator of how it might do in South Korea, Japan and China. I can say with utmost authority that FOX had a bad summer. For the last couple of years, their summer movies have disappointed at the boxoffice. Last summer was really bad and now this summer was bad. 2015 wasn't any good too.

Apes is already a successful franchise. Dunkirk is already making great money. Please spare some cash for Valerian. It needs it.

Besson and team have been too bullish. That's the reason for its downfall in North America where it could have done 25+ with Imax and more PLF screens if released in mid August. The distributor in India is giving it a fairly wide release in 3 different languages as they own a multiplex chain. But I don't see much marketing or excitement. I am hoping it puts decent numbers...though I know what's going to happen.

Any idea how Besson's film will do in Russia?
