  1. It's mid Shyamalan. Starts strong but can't quite grasp its concepts and message leading to a rushed conclusion.
  2. I feel like Missing will lose too many theaters. Cabin probably wins by a million or two, but it will barely scrape past 30.
  3. Is WB just not going to post Magic Mike box office and let Titanic be #1?
  4. lmao @ Disney waiting for Knock to post first so they could find an extra thousand dollars - (3) Avatar: The Way of Water 20th Century… $1,691,000 +149% -29% 3,065 $552 $641,726,731 57 - (2) Knock at the Cabin Universal $1,690,000 +135% -69% 3,657 $462 $19,635,995 8
  5. Really think Quantumania might be looking at an opening barely above Ant-Man and the Wasp. I'm surprised weekend sales haven't gained any traction at all.
  6. 3D RPX shows are popping up too. Let's see if AMC and IMAX go in on this nonsense.
  7. Zach Braff's A Good Person, anyone? The Ben Affleck Nike movie is gonna get a bigger push at this point
  8. And Zachary Levi is doing the film absolutely no favors with his recent endeavors the past few weeks.....
  9. BOP initial tracking is 27-35M. MGM doesn't know how to sustain a campaign past the early stages these days (see above)
  10. tbh I'm wary on Creed after MGM whiffed all their Q4 releases; the 27-35M tracking makes sense. The Amazon acquisition is clearly impacting things over there. Till/Bones and All/Women Talking don't have the most appealing subject matter nor are the same scale film as Creed, but they just stopped caring about them after the fall festivals; WT still hasn't crossed 1,000 theaters despite a Best Picture nomination and decent PTAs. MGM really needs to go into overdrive the next few weeks (or hope Jonathan Majors mentions it enough on the Ant-Man trail).
  11. Gonna go: Creed - 40M (tracking is way lower than I expected but I imagine it picks back up) Scream - 30M Shazam - 35M 65 - 10M John Wick - 80M Dungeons - 20M (SXSW reception will make or break it)
  12. I never got either trailer lol I got House Party at Black Adam though, forgot that even came out in January.
  13. Yup, I was going to see Knock at the Cabin last night but it was already a subzero wind chill at 6PM and I wasn't going to risk subway delays when the movie would've been out at 10PM nor my own warmth and comfort. 80 for Brady should have a bonkers hold on Sunday, but everything else seems like it's holding fine today.
  14. We need some more trailers in the rotation lol 9x: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Menu, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, The Whale, Avatar: The Way of Water Dolby 3D, Babylon, Avatar: The Way of Water IMAX 3D, M3GAN) 7x: John Wick: Chapter 4 (Bullet Train, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Menu, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, The Whale, Avatar: The Way of Water Dolby 3D, Avatar: The Way of Water IMAX 3D) 5x: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (Avatar IMAX 3D, Black Adam, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, Babylon) Oppenheimer (Nope, Bullet Train, Avatar IMAX 3D, Avatar: The Way of Water IMAX 3D, M3GAN) 4x: Creed III (Black Adam, The Banshees of Inisherin, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Avatar: The Way of Water IMAX 3D) The Super Mario Bros. Movie (Black Adam, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Avatar: The Way of Water Dolby 3D, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish) 3x: Chevalier (The Menu, The Whale, Infinity Pool) Infinity Pool (The Whale, Babylon, M3GAN) Shazam! Fury of the Gods (Black Adam, Avatar: The Way of Water IMAX 3D, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish) Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Avatar: The Way of Water IMAX 3D, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish) 2x: 65 (Avatar: The Way of Water Dolby 3D, Babylon) Beau Is Afraid (M3GAN, Infinity Pool) Cocaine Bear (M3GAN, Infinity Pool) Elemental (Avatar: The Way of Water Dolby 3D, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish) Evil Dead Rise (M3GAN, Infinity Pool) Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (Avatar: The Way of Water Dolby 3D, Avatar: The Way of Water IMAX 3D) The Little Mermaid (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish) Scream VI (Babylon, M3GAN) 1x: Barbie (Avatar: The Way of Water Dolby 3D) A Good Person (Babylon) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (Avatar: The Way of Water IMAX 3D) Renfield (M3GAN) Titanic 3D (Avatar: The Way of Water IMAX 3D)
  15. The Riseborough outcome is exactly what I expected. She's not guilty by any means and shouldn't have the nom rescinded, but the campaign clearly broke guidelines and can't hide behind being the little indie that could. Good for Andrea lol
  16. I'm really wondering if this can get disqualified like that song lol. When the hell was the one week qualifying run?
  17. Crazy ass nominations. Riseborough's campaign will haunt punditry for years to come. My personal ranking: TÁR The Banshees of Inisherin Everything Everywhere All at Once Avatar: The Way of Water Elvis Top Gun: Maverick Women Talking The Fabelmans Triangle of Sadness Will probably watch All Quiet sometime this week.
  18. You can make the case Fabelmans is now 6th behind TAR/Elvis/Top Gun. When the Globes are the only group you aren't underperforming at... The BAFTA miss hurts Top Gun too but it still had a good below the line showing there + all its guild nominations.
  19. My showing of M3GAN last night had good walkups, would say it was roughly 60% full. Theaters that reduced it to one screen seemed to be selling out.
  20. The Whale in PGA is big, and with Hong getting into SAG and the BAFTA longlist, it might be 8th or 9th now. The Way of Water is suffering from The Two Towers effect. Like Fellowship, Avatar won Cinematography and had the probable Director runner-up, and this time around it will likely miss both categories. There's a good chance it ends up with only 4 nominations (Picture, Production Design, VFX, Sound). Late screeners are a valid defense, but it might be too late to regain buzz for Jimbo and Cinematography. As much as people keeping hyping up All Quiet as a rising contender, it's been missing most of the guilds. So far it's only gotten ADG, CAS, and MPSE. Bardo has one less guild but the ASC nomination is arguably more impressive than anything All Quiet has been nominated for so far. BAFTA should give a better sense on All Quiet.
