  1. All that will matter to the studio is MONAAAAYYY, of course. As the studio insiders note about The Rock/Black Adam situation, "the numbers just weren't there" to justify Johnson's ego-tastic demands. If THE FLASH hits with audiences and it even breaks even in our fractured Theatrical climate, it will be seen as win. Keaton's Batman will surely help...somewhat, which is, I suspect, why they even brought back Keaton in the first place, because the studio wasn't 100% convinced a FLASH solo with Miller would land with audiences. We'll see... I think a more likely reason that it might fail would simply be due to current audience ambivalence about the DC Universe on screen.
  2. TOLDJA! Nothing is off the table as long as Miller cleans up his act a bit...
  3. No indication that the current Guardians are sticking around past Guardians V3. Scarlett who? Scarlett J is done with Black Widow and Marvel for now, too. Scarlett Witch, she "dead" too, yo... 😁 If there is a cameo-heavy entry, SECRET WARS will be it.
  4. "We don't want the Chinese public to be misled in thinking the Quantum realm actually exists from Westerners...because we are working on it, ourselves."
  5. Once AVATAR was there, it was never going to happen. Especially as they're both owned by the same overall corporate sphere. And also because...you know...blue people. 😁 I would love to be a fly on the wall when Cameron found out that Coogler's film was using "blue water people" as well... Suprised Marvel/Disney ended up approving that decision.
  6. I think the smart way to go (and Feige is pretty damn smart) is to bring fans/audiences' expectations into the narrative, itself -- i.e. many people are "skeptical" about whether this new crop of "Avengers" (and there's no indication they are even a newly-reformed team, yet) can hold their own in audience interest and powerful impact vs. the original team. Bring that into the story. KANG might be specifically picking THIS point in the timeline to attack when he KNOWS that the so-called "Avengers" are at their weakest/in a moment of transition... in fact he may even take a strategy of sidelining the senior players (Larson's Marvel, Strange, Thor) in an attempt to take over. Then we'll see what they're really made of. I assume since Cretton is Directing at least one of these that Shang-Chi will be a big player. In Ant-Man, of course, KANG is testing the waters to get Lang to do something for him in the Quantum Realm. But we don't even know if this same KANG will be the one showing up in KANG DYNASTY...or there may be MANY of them...
  7. You just answered your own question. (Initially) "The Batman" was still arguably some version of the same project in development, even though Reeves rewrote the script (they kept the same title, too). Gunn's script he's been working on seemingly has nothing to with whatever WBD was recently developing for a Man of Steel sequel.
  8. Please don't call him "McQ." It brings back bad memories of that other "director" called "McG" who of course is like a flea flying around in McQuarrie's face in terms of talent. It's also a really bad John Wayne movie. 😁
  9. Give the studio and creatives a break over the holidays, folks... And again -- Why don't we have a new thread for JAMES GUNN'S SUPERMAN, at this point? This is a NEW PROJECT. Man of Steel "2" is dead. Happy New Year!
  10. Yeah, unless this movie turns out to be a secretly-genius-well-made picture (and there's no indication of that from any buzz, unlike THE FLASH, which we've been hearing positive buzz about for what feels like...years), then I expect a similar small bump a la the last sequel. The movie "looks" great and I've always liked Rudd in these, but they are still 'niche' interests within the MCU. Fanboys claiming "This is the first big intro of Kang, it will be epic" will mean nothing to the general audience. Though I'm pretty sure that Majors will be the best thing in the movie, yes! He has a great year ahead, with CREED III coming right afterwards.
  11. Zaslav watching each DC star being like... "I have the button...one push of this button, your movie goes to HBOMax...or whatever we're calling it in the Spring!" "...Or into the vaults." "...And you don't come back."
  12. The message is still the same...cinematically. Redundant and counter-intuitive to where the franchise previously ended. But hey, they weren't the first sequel to do that in order to extend the dollar, and won't be the last...
  13. I'm wondering if your chosen name here "Bruce" from Asia is a Bruce Lee reference at all? And if so, it would seemingly contradict Lee's own mantra: "Don't think...FEEL" when talking about a cinema experience. Every movie can be dissected later on its "logic" -- I will always argue that what matters is the experience in the moment, how the movie "works" in its visual storytelling, and what thoughts it conjures in you. This is where Cameron is a brilliant tactician. I usually don't buy into complaints about "logic" or "pacing problems" as people often say -- which can be due to all kinds of factors that your brain is in during the moment you see the movie, like the poster above you who claimed they dozed off because they were already "tired as hell." Or being on a caffeine high and thinking the movie is "too slow." So that's debatable to me whether it's the movie's fault. And if you saw it three times, I would say that it convinced you enough to believe in its world on screen... 😁 I haven't gotten out to it once, yet...which is why it's going to continue to make money, people like me still haven't caught up with it!
  14. This is all rumor/speculation, at this point...but I'd agree it's likely to happen, yes...because they've done it before, it's really not unusual. Marvel Studios is like Ego the Living Planet, an ever-evolving brain-trust that consistently formulates new paths based on current trajectories and success/failure percentages. But Marvel/Feige don't control where SONY puts their Spidey-verse movies, and I'm not so sure Feige even has a say in how/where Rothman dates Spider-Man sequels.
  15. This quote, like all others, has also been extrapolated/blown-up/probably misinterpreted. It's obviously emotional for Saldana, but also self-generated "buzz" to encourage people to see the movie, so they can anticipate the next one. But that's the age we live in; one quote gets duplicated across the net and made into clickbait articles...even by the trades.
  16. Monday's gonna show all the nervous folk why you should trust Cameron...and audiences...because they are coming back after the holidays! Some for the first time! (I haven't caught it yet, myself!)
  17. I can verify from a friend who's working on these productions that they go back to work in January...but for which Avatar movie, I'm not sure! 😁 (And probably couldn't say, even if I knew!)
  18. Another "never-heard-of-it-until-now" fanboy blog (look at the focus of the rest of their posts) that seems to claim something like this and then doesn't pan out. I will bring this question to every forum here now -- How about a ban on posting Tweets from unverified/un-established film/media journalists and trades? It would lend this forum a bit more legitimacy.
  19. True, if they're spending money for a Superbowl ad, then they really believe in the movie...or at least plan to bet big on it, under Zaslav's philosophy. I laugh at the current state of WBD as much as anyone else on these forums lately, but I think the "cash poor" assertion has probably been exaggerated a bit overall. Every studio is "suffering" a bit right now, relatively, due to declining theatrical revenue, messed up post-COVID slates, and an overly zealous jump into streaming during the pandemic (but yes, what Jason Kilar did with HBOMax and Warner's slate that year surely gets a lot of the blame by the rest of the industry). https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/kim-masters-hollywoods-2022-year-1235282889/ THE FLASH surely has a whole lot of elements going against it for a successful box office run, but I also think the General Public is simply not as keyed-in to the Miller controversies or even Multiverse dilemmas as online fanship and fanboy Twitter is... If the movie looks great, they will come...as long as Miller keeps mostly off-the-grid, as he currently is!
  20. 1. Who's tracking for $1 Billion? I haven't seen that anywhere. Just because WBD is high on it, doesn't mean they think it would do that much. I think the studio will be ecstatic if this thing even does $500-600 mil WW. If THE FLASH can't even best BLACK ADAM WW...then sheesh, I'd throw Miller out with the bathwater, too...but they're probably going to, anyway. 2. Anything can be assembled and re-assembled into blockbuster material by a talented filmmaker. Perhaps Muschietti found the secret to making these characters work? The buzz sure seems to indicate that that's the case. The tragic irony would be if THE FLASH ends up being one of the best things to spawn out of the Snyder-verse...because regardless, it will over. But we don't really know the truth until we see it. It's going to be interesting to see how each of 2023's four DC projects do with audiences...
