  1. my one complaint. way, way to many terrible films after the 00's and many of the greats that came out in those years are not even mentioned. you don't have to contribute this to the list but these are some of the films that should definitely be on here. The Producers(1967) MASH(1970) And Now for Something Completely Different(1971) THX 1138(1971) Fantastic Planet(1973) Deep Red(1975) Close encounters of the Third Kind(1977) House(1977) Being there(1979) Lupin the third: Castle of cagliostro(1979) The Warriors(1979) Airplane(1980) Mephisto(1981) National Lampons Vacation(1983) Trading Places(1983) Amadeus(1984) Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom(1984) The Karate Kid(1984) This is Spinal Tap(1984) Paris, Texas(1984) The Purple Rose of Cairo(1985) Full metal Jacket(1987) Beetlejuice(1988) Coming to America(1988) Crimes and Misdemeanors(1989) Boyz N The Hood(1991) Delicatssen(1991) The Doors(1991) Cronos(1993) In The name of the father(1993) King of the Hill(1993) The Crow(1994) The City of Lost Children(1995) Twelve Monkeys(1995) Bottle Rocket(1996) Jerry maguire(1996) Chasing Amy(1997) Good Will Hunting(1997) Jackie Brown(1997) Neon Genesis: The End of Evangelion(1997) Pi(1998) Pleasantville(1998) Ringu(1998) Run, Lola, Run(1998) The Thin Red Line(1998) Galaxy Quest(1999) The Virgin Suicides(1999) South Park: Bigger longer and Uncut(1999) Billy Elliot(2000) Traffic(2000) Donnie Darko(2001) Ghost World(2001) Gosford Park(2001) Bloody Sunday(2002) Minority Report(2002) Les Invasions Barbares(2003) Monster(2003) Hotel Rwanda(2004) Layer Cake(2004) Million Dollar Baby(2004) Sideways(2004) Survive Style 5 +(2004) Capote(2005) The Constant Gardener(2005) Junebug(2005) Match Point(2005) Munich(2005) Paradise Now(2005) The Squid and the Whale(2005) Syriana(2005) Babel(2006) The Fountain(2006) Letters from Iwoa Jima(2006) Perfume: The Story of a Murderer(2006) Before the Devil Know's You're Dead(2007) Sunshine(2007) Frost/Nixon(2008) Let The Right One in(2008) An Education(2009) Fantastic Mr. Fox(2009) Sin Nombre(2009) Animal Kingdom(2010) Black Swan(2010) Incendies(2010) Inside Job(2010) The Fighter(2010) Shame(2011) these films shoud just replace weaker entries such as STitD, Pacific Rim, Now You see Me, Man Of steel, grow ups 2, Despicable me 2, the great gatsby, after earth, ted, skyfall, pitch perfect, Madagascar(all of them), Ice Age C.D, Ghost Rider SOV, The Hunger Game, End of Watch, These are just a few films in the last 2 years that people have overrated simply because there new, give it 5 - 10 years, you're opinions will change and these films will feel like every other piece of crap Hollywood throws at us. Please crucify me!!
  2. I fucking Cherish this movie, love how campy it is. it's even more hysterical in french! haha Good old Batman
  3. depending on how many you already did. Right now each person can submit up to 50 films in total. nice animation choice, Porco Rosso is simply lighthearted fun.
  4. everyone should have to ban 100 or so films, within 2 days. We can than check for the highest amount of votes to ban, and start there. remember it's gonna be depending on how many movies we end up adding to this list and how many people end up participating.
  5. I already Picked Young Frankenstein, I think this means you get to choose another movie
  6. Another Argento I've seen is The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, his debut and, in many ways, a precursor to Deep Red and to many giallo thrillers that followed in the early 1970s. It's imperfect but I actually might have enjoyed it more than DR (admittedly, my expectations weren't nearly as high), it's got a strong mystery, a good twist ending similar in its effect to the one from Deep Red, and it's shot by the great Vittorio Storaro, so it's visually striking as well. If you're a fan of Deep Red, I'm absolutely sure you'll enjoy it. I definitely foresaw the twist ending maybe it was because I seen Deep Red already, I was almost expecting exactly what I saw, but this movie plays out less realistic and more humorous, let me explain, " You don't like cat?". simply the one part where This was a decent film though, I enjoyed it thoroughly and found it very entertaining like you said. it had a good script the acting was decent, Music was decent not as good as Deep Red or Suspiria. this movie also didn't shock me as much it was kind of predictable there wasn't much else in this story to drift me away from what they had revealed. Now in Deep Red, they left it a bit more in the air, for me anyway. It does have that similar plot twist elements though [ Oh and one more thing but besides my nitpicking criticism I still enjoyed it a whole lot, like I mentioned before, Dario Argento is one unique Director who has a subtle way of showing his work, I don't know how many times I said this already but this movie is just enjoyable and I dig these kind of movies, even if there cheesy and predictable. There's a lot damn worse out there.
  7. yessir, if you've only posted 25 you may post 25 more, I believe.
  8. This sounds racist because it is. anyways I've decided to compile a little list of potential BP Nominees from what I know now. Obviously things are subject to change The Wolf of Wall Street Her 12 Years a Slave The Monuments Men Lee Daniels The Butler American Hustle August: Osage County Gravity inside LLewyn Davis Captain Philips Fruitvale Station and Saving Mr. Banks will be my alternates and I do wonder how Terry Gilliam's The Zero Theorem Will turn out.
  9. Agreed, those are the two Argento films I've seen and they are both fantastic in there own ways. Deep Red was phenomenal as well, a fantastic slasher mystery that didn't disappoint as far as mystery's go, I mean it totally blew my pants off at the end, I don't wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but I have to say this one did surprise me to say the least. I wonder if there's another Argento film for me, completely forgot about him, mostly because his name is not mainstream and is only spoken nowadays by Cult film lovers.
  10. Great add. the tone of Suspiria is totally unique, creepy as hell. one of the great REAL witch films of all time.
  11. Btw Wall-e was amazing, thanks for the incentive. I heard something bad about it from someone a very long time ago and now I realize why I no longer am associated with this person. So thank you Joker! I would have probably skipped this one, indefinitely.
  12. so many great films in this list are missing, don't make me start naming them. I think we need to do another list, and if this one doesn't work out i'l just have to make my own.
  13. you also got point break listed as a film that came out 1967. it's 1991 my reaction to the films that people have selected so far. I have been intrigued to say that we got a lot of wise, Cultivated choices, many of you sticking to older films, which is not a bad thing at all. every film before the 90's I would say deserves to be there, but I must say it does seem like we(ESPECIALLY me ) get a little carried away after the 00's. Some of these films listed I would probably rather eat my own skin rather then have to watch again(that may be a slight over-exaggeration. ) I guess i'l just get ready to vote off those films. Damn democracies never work, it always has and will be an argument. so vote for me you're king jk of course. although democracy is bullshit, but that's another story. So my point now, to try and mold it in. I believe some of you have chose sophistication over clear Lunacy. to this I say Bravo, put a hand on you're back! and may the next follow, I would really love to see the anatomy of the boxoffice forums develop taste and to learn from those with more insight and wisdom in film, I mean to me this is what life is about. Learning, need I say more. remember development is inevitable and how you do it can be crucial as is to how you turn out. most of us probably already know that, but one for the kiddies and Pick more "GOOD" Films plz
  14. who put after earth on their list? just wondering I don't see it anywhere
  15. give us an update when you can Mahanahma, and Eraserhead has already been takin Telemachos.
  16. Cinema Paradiso(1988) The Secret of NIHM(1982) Robin Hood: Men in Tights(1993) Suburbia(1996) Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind(1984) Cube(1997) The Wicker Man(1973) Kafka(1991) Young Frankenstein(1974) Stand By me(1986) Planes, Trains, and Automobiles(1987) Enter The Dragon(1973) Bubba Ho-tep(2002) American Splendor(2003) Infernal Affairs(2002) Dear Zachery: A letter to a son about his father(2008) thought it was 2006?? Chungking Express(1994) Badlands(1973) I seem to love this year for some reason. Heavenly Creatures(1994) Fresh(1994) City Of God(2002) Whispers of the Heart(1995) Upstream Color(2013) Windstruck(2004) The Killer(1989) Edit for removal of videodrome and addition of Kafka(1991)
  17. we should vote to let me vote again I got some cult classics up my sleeve, I can't believe I missed the first time around.. And NO ONNESS PICKING THEM !!! I'd like it if people were more in to foreign and indie film rather then adding huge Hollywood blockbusters and popular animation titles! which are also blockbusters, just thought I'd point that out. Can I possibly recommend a film or two ? or are we stretching Thank God... I mean how can you go wrong when they name it the Squeekel. So what I want is for you to let me do 75 films, if that's to many let me do 25. just so this list keeps moving along, or I guess i'l wait because a lot of people are probably trying to get there list ready but in a couple more days you gotta let me do more man , you just gotta let me do more! or maybe i'l just recommend a few films time to time is that cool/?>
  18. did you just say you thought trainspotting was terrible/?> how>?? please I wanna hear this!
  19. Rushmore Sixteen Candles Adaptation Detachment Matchstick Men Dark City Waking Life Audition Gattaca Side Effects(2013) Where the Wild Things Are The Devil and Daniel Johnston A Bridge Too Far Monty Pythons The Meaning Of Life Into The Wild Breaking the Waves Lost in Translation Synedoche New York Amores Perros Battle Royale I'm not sure how many were doing now so il put down 5 extra to make a grand total of 25, maybe if each person added 50 films this would move along quicker. Stranger Than Paradise Menace II Society Another Earth My Sassy Girl Y tu mama Tambien
  20. it would be great if they decided to go make a sequel. Macgrubers and then the third one could be little macGrubers or something
  21. sorry to change subject, I don't really know where to post this but does anyone else think that the new ben stiller movie(the secret life of water mitty) looks way over-hyped, like I can see it being good just not as good as there making it out to be, I guess time will tell. anyone seen an early cut of this?
  22. looks like it was much lower then I expected. I guess you guys are right the Japanese are probably so familiar with Mecha and kaiju film and shows they're probably don't give a rats ass that there's a Hollywood movie out. Now if someone can explain to me what the big deal with Brad Pitt is, besides the ladies, and don't worry about mentioning his status as an actor, I wanna know what people see in him besides looking super cool 24/7 into the camera. anyone?
  23. anyone know how much money pacific rim made over the weekend in japan?
  24. reoper is decent, Roger Ebert was the best!
