  1. Lucky! I remember when I was 14 watched Pulp Fiction for the first time, It blew my little mind! Goodfellas is a most also, those two were my favorites for years.
  2. Like Gopher stated up top we all have our opinions, and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another, i'm glad we can all come to this understanding. So back to the critic talk, I know this guys kind of a nit picker but who isn't really. we all have a bias point of view somewhere down the line, don't we? anyway his name is the Nostalgia critic or The guy with the glasses. He doesn't do new reviews its usually older stuff and more/less the type that's easy to make fun of. he's a very funny dude, with some pretty decent idea's of his own. The Uncanny Valley: Dragonbored is a pretty good short film he made last month, check it out, if you get the time. I find his Bum reviews pretty annoying, besides that most of the stuff he does is just a good laugh. For entertainment and a review, I go to this guy http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/nostalgia-critic

  5. Do you think before you post? World War Z is an adaption so first of all guy! it's not original. Second of all, how you figure WWZ is the biggest movies of the summer when despicable me 2 has made more then 100M then it, is beyond me. Third of all this was suppose to be a great movie adapting the award winning novel also on the New York times best sellers list for 4 weeks, this had potential to be a very intellectual film. but it didn't even try to be, IMO. They spent so much time making Brad Pitt out to be a superhero who seemed to have wolverines power of auto-healing, and Superman's distance from reality(lack of emotion). that we never get an actual story about anything interesting or clever at all. The film makers failed to make a coherent, sensical believable world. literally because we had to follow the stone soldier the entire film we never get a good enough picture about what's going on with the rest of the world, apparently out of 7 billion people it all comes down to one man. Like we get it Hollywood keep shitting on good stories with money grubbing formula some more.
  6. i'm not trying to fight with you. but what I said was "Whats with all the jayz music?" it was question, I didn't understand why everytime I heard music it was something completely out of it's century. It just felt out of place that and when Gatsy's in the car with tobey's character and it looks like there going 100mph which those cars would not have been able to do back then, flying passed cars, I mean there's lots of stupid little bits in this movie just made it an unpleasant experience. Now if that's idiotic to you, then call me what you will. I can see how some people might like this and that's fine but I didn't.
  7. you're opinion is completely bias, just letting you know. There's nothing wrong with people if they didn't like this film nor is it wrong if they liked it, If anything you're opinion is the idiotic one. I said one thing in the other thread( what was with all the jayz music?) and you attacked me, basically asking for my opinion, it's almost like you wanted other people to hate it so you could flash out your narcissism and claim I am different! anyways grow up and join the real world.
  8. yes I have, well half of it ended up walking out on it. The only thing I thought was slightly interesting about this movie was the Tobey maguire's character even Leo seemed to bug me in this movie, I can't really explain how un-entertaining this movie was for me, It seems like they tried to modernize the early 1900's which just ended up looking and sounding ridiculous to me, their wasn't strong enough dialogue to keep me entertained, nothing really memorable in this film for what I seen, I don't think it's gonna age to well, and with a 7.4 on Imdb and 70% audience likes on Rotten Tomatoes I would say it's a bit overrated.
  9. what with all the jay Z music in that movie?
  10. listening to you people hate and argue about this ending only makes me think that the ending of this film was Nolan's greatest accomplishment in TDKR. You all still refuse to use your imagination and believe in possibilities, it's quite sad actually. trying to find a factual or unambiguous ending to when there's not suppose to be, is a long journey of confusion, and negative judgement's, rather then accepting a creative way of story telling you just shun it and blame it on the script, editing, or direction. please people start buying toothpaste without fluoride I believe you're critical thinking skills have all been altered severely enough for you all to come to these idiotic nonsensical conclusions. thank you. sorry for calling anyone names but instead of hating on something that clearly tried to be different, try looking at things from a different angle.
  11. Almost every single film I've seen this year has been overrated, imo this is an unpopular opinion but I like The lords of Salem, which I think most people were expecting something different, something more pop in your face, which Imo would take away from the true creepy essence of the film. Sightseers it's not that it has bad reviews it's that not enough people know about it. I also don't think Mud is overrated or underrated, it gets positive reviews from pretty much everyone who has seen it. it's just a good film. So the only real underrated film this year I think is Lords of Salem which has gotten a 47% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 5.2 on IMDB that and I can't find many people that enjoyed this film and think of it as a work of Art like I do.
  12. nothing will ever top the first full feature film from Disney, possibly from what I have read the first full featured animated film ever, " Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" it's no surprise this film has grown on me with all the love and care of Walt Disney himself investing and producing to make sure this classic tale got its adaption and it ends up a masterpiece. Now it's sad to see these artists getting laid off, hopefully they will find work else ware but if there was one thing Walt believed in, it was progress. and like Ladybug mentioned I also hope one day they will have a change of heart and re-open this department, or add a similar one, so that one day we might experience the beauty of hand drawn animation once again. even if it is more costly.
  13. Polanski was great at Horror, this and Rosemary's baby still gives me the chills, just thinking about the scene near the ending when she gets that unexpected visitor, this film was truly creepy in it's own little way. Love the film.
  14. What I don't understand is why people can't believe this! Nolan made his ending as ambiguous as possible as we don't get to see if Batman/Bruce survived we can always imagine, and even though Alfred see's Bruce and Catwoman(sorry forget her name) in the same spot as he took a vacation earlier on in the story, who's to say that it wasn't a dream. that is what's so great about this film it leaves the ending for how you want to think about it, now you can argue about it all you want but then you're just not getting the whole picture.
  15. Neill Blomkamp wrote and directed District 9, the movie was a fresh take for the sci-fi genre starting off like a news program or documentary, giving us a realistic feel that this could possibly happen in our world. Other then that the film follows a similar to Hollywood formula that most likely the film Elysium follows, haven't seen it yet but I will one day( most likely) but I don't think it will be worth me buying a ticket to see anytime soon. Next movie I'm going to see is Kick ass 2 and that's because I'm a straight up comic book geek and not because I see that it's got potential to be a good movie, just a decent one.
  16. Last year the only thing saving it from failure as you would call it, was Cloud Atlas and arguably Prometheus. I think blockbusters in general have been following such a similar formula these last years we're starting to see resemblances in everything, we need to discard the reused and only pay attention to films that are actually different. instead of explosions and cheesy one liners, we all end up quickly forgetting. I hate to say it but even though I enjoyed Pacific Rim{(more or less because of the idea)big fan of NEON GENESIS EVENGELION} It isn't a very good movie, that has many problems through out(somethings that really bug me), just like every other blockbuster I've seen this year this list includes Mos, Im3, Wolverine, WWZ, and even Star Trek into Darkness(God that ending blew donkey nutz, decent 1st and 2nd act tho) All in all, I/we mostly end up just enjoying the special effects and the adventure that accompanies(even if it is a predictable as Justin Bieber dying of a drug overdose.(what did I just say That!!) So my question is when these films age on us within time is it something we can re-watch all the time for the outdated S F/X or does/will it become meaningful and/or nostalgic to us? is the predictable plot enough for us to be satisfied, or is it the journey for point A - B that we enjoy so much? What is it that made Star Wars so Nostalgic was it because it was inventive and innovative? or was it because it's ridiculous popularity has made us believe it is the one and only. Jesus(cough) film that every film for the next 50 years has to follow that form. Now i'm not saying star wars is a bad film I think it's great there's truly great feel to all the original films the only problem I have with it, is that it grew so much in popular(way too Popular) that every film coming out today had to try and be like it, Luke dealing with the pain of growing up eventually accepting and then making the heroic superhero sacrifices to save the world/or the one he loves, A Han(pretty boy)and Lea Romance and the droids/chewbacca or whoever else to add some comic relief. I'm not saying all films but take a look at most superhero films and the blockbusters this year I have mentioned above, I really feel that their just rehashed material with different actors special effects, set pieces and lines, going through the same old story.
  17. Lost in Translation is just a beautiful first viewing experience, you're lucky to have not seen it yet, now go watch it and enjoy.
  18. pretty straight forward which is your favorite Monty Pythons films in order for most to least. If you haven't seen any, it's time to start watching, if you don't like them "Then Go Fuck yourself" thank you. 1.The Holy Grail 2.The Life Of Brian 3.The Meaning of Life 4.And Now for something Completely Different 5.Live at the Hollywood Bowl
  19. movie 43 is one of those movies that are terribly hilarious, the movie is awful but as long as you know it's their to laugh at and not take seriously you'll have a good time.
  20. The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation and Somewhere were all great films, Lost in Translation is my favorite followed by The virgin suicides.
  21. so you think it's got rewatch value and I didn't,, just thinking about that cgi scene on top of the speed train is tormenting me.
  22. just saw this for the second time now, a friend wanted to go so I was like why the hell not. so this time I was much more eager to criticize and wasn't blind sighted by the pretty Asian people and the fact that it's a f**cking X-men movie which already pretty much makes it awesome, I guess I didn't realize how slow this movie actually moved the first time, this time I was just bored knowing exactly what was going to happen I looked for other things to keep me interested, and sadly I left slightly open handed what I got was a negative reaction towards the fairly boring dialogue and screenplay plot holes, so overall it was very disappointing the second go around I think the highlight of the entire movie is Vipers Death which is actually kinda cool that and when wolverine performs heart surgery on himself.. fuckin classic lol I'd like to change my rating after my second go im gonna give it a 6/10 but might go down to 5.5 with time, we'll see how it sits on me for the next couple years
  23. Baumer did you like Man of Steel or just haven't had the time to see it
