  1. indeed both films make you feel like you've entered the Twilight Zone the first time watching them, True trip out movies like Videodrome or Mulholland Drive well MHD is more of a wtf is going on but still very trippy stuff, Kubrick would be impressed,

  5. decent film, I'm not sure I could watch it again due to the whole film has that strobe light effect, which is pretty much the uniqueness of the film. It is interesting how the camera moves around into different stories but still this movie is more of a mindf**k with no point then anything. if you don't wanna do drugs and wanna feel what it's like in a very unsatisfying way, like doing mushrooms inside a small room with nothing to look at or explore, then watch this movie.
  6. game of thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Mad men, Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Walking Dead, Spartacus, sons and anarchy and more I'd say t.v is pretty damn good right now. not a fan of new sitcoms though Id rather watch re-runs of Seinfeld then watch how I met your mother. Big bang theory is ok. and the animated mobojumbo from seth Macfarlane is decent if you watch it once every blue moon.
  7. Waayyy to many snubs to mention so il just stick to last year Like you guys mentioned before leo not getting nominated for Django Unchained is just sad. Cloud Atlas No BP Nomination!!!! INSANE!! I would have been cool with an adapted screenplay nom at least, they should have knocked off siliver linings playbook. Argo(good Film, no doubt) over Life of PI tho ------ FUc*inG Insane!!! Brave over Wreck it Ralph - this just made me angry. so if the academy is made up of a couple to a few thousand members and the majority picks ^ what you see above I'm convinced the majority is nothing more then a bunch of Justin Beiber think a likes. That or they just vote to vote and it's all decided by a select few.
  8. the movie has yet to open in Japan, I'm thinking that's going to bring in at least 30 million if not more but I could be wrong, who knows how Japan will feel about a live action hollywood mecha vrs Monsters film. they did create a genre of anime and manga for it, so I hope it does well because I am already looking forward to Pacific Rim 2
  9. Just wondering there Jake Nevada what was you're issue with sightseers? I thought this movie was actually pretty well done, Dark and entertaining, and psychologically terrifying. It was a modern age Badlands. no complaint about Man of Steel being on you're list though, that was one bad superman movie, beside some F/X and the Score which comes in quite subtle but still good none the less.
  10. Nice list Lisa theirs probably a few I'm forgetting but what the hell here it goes Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind Wall-e The Secret Of NiHM Spirited Away Princess Mononoke Fantasic Mr. Fox Beauty and the Beast Whisper of the Heart Grave of Fireflies HM : South Park, Toy Story, Wreck it Ralph, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ice Age, The Iron Giant, Akira, Mary and Max, Pinnochio, Howl's Moving Castle, The Land before Time, The nightmare before Christmas, The Girl who leapt through time, , , Porco Rosso, Fantasia, The Lion King, Dumbo, Sleeping Beauty
  11. I used to really love watching Depp in movies like Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, and fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, I thought he did a brilliant job but after Pirates it just seems that he was never able to drop the act and everything he does we get a hint of captain jack sparrow, and it annoys the living shit out of me. it's quite sad when actors/actresses get used up and have nothing new left to offer, from past experiences with drugs and alcohol myself I noticed something similar about where johnny Depp seems to be in his life, but with the many support of fans, friends and family I am sure that he will get over this, so that he can continue to grow and return to his roots. I have faith in Johnny Depp but it's a journey none the less, and acceptance is key!
  12. watching Cloud Atlas again, such a amazing film!
  13. I can't really think of anything american that's not really a blockbuster other then Wes Anderson films which I always seem to mention, a great mixture of everything in his films, they always seem to have great cinematography and music. check out " My Sassy Girl" and "Windstruck" if you're going for something a bit different, and yeah definitely watch Pan's Labyrinth it's a great film, also I am assuming you've seen films from Kubrick and Hitchcock if not it's a great place to start.
  14. so I scrolled through all the comments and happen to disagree with a lot of you, don't get me wrong I don't think this movie is very good but it entertained and as it was extremely simplistic and predictable I still enjoyed it for the most part. the most enjoyable part for me was when they slowly managed to unfold the mystery of who was trying to abduct Mariko, I remember at one part I had thought that it was her farther controlling Viper but when the father finds Mariko, we got a little surprise and we find out that someone else is in charge and that basically leaves us with one option, maybe two if you consider Noburo but he ends up just like most of you probably guessed a stepping stone in the story. Suddenly we realise when Yukio(red) mentions earlier on that she didn't predict her masters death, that Yashida(the master) was behind all this trying to take Wolverines immortality. some of us might have figured this out quite a bit quicker but for me I was relaxed and in the moment. also the relationship building between Mariko and Logan was nice gave us a good image of who The Wolverine was(not that we didn't already know) but is still enjoyable to see, I found that this gave the female audiences something to enjoy, that and all the girls kicking ass! The biggest issues I had with this film believe it or not was the action which was sub-par in my opinion. plenty of sequences in the first large scaled fight scene just didn't quite add up to well, I also noticed the sound mixing on those scenes were rushed and slightly off, watch it again and focus on Yukio fighting with her staff and you'll see what I'm talking about. So all in all we get another Superhero movie but for some reason, maybe it was the setting, maybe it was how the story slowly unfloded, maybe it was the great mixture of comedy/romance and action, but I really felt we got something a bit different here and I've been begging for something different! Favourite comic book movie of the year so far. 7/10
  15. I've come to the conclusion, that you should put down the crack pipe!
  16. yeah this movie was a great disappointment, just thinking about this movie makes me think about the people making this, and the question that I would insult them with " Do you think you're target audience is gonna by into this?" and that is all folks good night and good luck.
  17. I remember watching this on a plane or in a Hotel Room a couple years ago , and I remember enjoying this one too.
  18. I have only recently got into romantic comedies and the reason is Planetes, a japanese anime based in the future about a woman who ends up becoming a debris collector, it was really amazing stuff I noticed that new movie Gravity had some minor resemblances and is probably semi-based off of, it's no surprise even the recent Pacific Rim had many Anime influences well a whole genre of influences actually. Okay so when I think about Romantic Comedy's many films come to mind, Rushmore, Napoleon Dynamite, Back to the Future and even Forrest Gump! I'm sure there's like 95% of people reading this thinking " this person has no idea what he/she is talking about" but to be honest I havean't seen that many romantic Comedies and these are the ones I thought of, all romance is kind of subtle, these stories are mostly about people and their journey which later then leads into a romance, another two movies I would like to mention would be the Korean Films My Sassy Girl and Windstruck, now if you like romantic comedies, i'm almost positive you will love these two films both a little sad and theirs parts like in every movie where you're sitting their thinking "ya Right" but the focus on relationship building and what comes next for people was intriguing to me and I bought into it. Oh and I should Probably Mention Titanic, Of course right. and I guess I'l Mention Salmon Fishing in the Yemen Just because I've never enjoyed a movie like this. I really hold this one up high in the Chick Flick Genre but I was completely suprised by my result i've concluded to in the end, an enjoyable romance, not so much a comedy. Wow the more I type the more movies come to mind so I Guess i'l mention the Wedding Singer, being a music junky really helps you like this one as well as liking Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, I don't particularly like them any way more then any one else in hollywood but I love the roles they played and how they adapted into them, just one really good romantic Comedy. and this one is probably the best suited for this topic, just because it has those elements in it, where Titanic for ex. wouldn't be considered a romantic comedy it would probably just be a Romantic Drama or however you would phrase it. Movies I have yet to see that would probably be on this list: What comes to mind is the Before sunrise trilogy but having yet to see it, I still don't know how much of a comedy it is.
  19. MOvies I liked and Movies I didnt like Liked Lords of Salem Pacific Rim Star Trek Into Darkness - all though The ending was dreadful Sightseers - not a bad film loved the whole psychological aspect of it. Movies I didn't LIke Man Of Steel - For making 280 million Dollars atm, all I have to say is we will eat what we have to eat, good thing in the movie world there are many remakes so we don't have to put up with nonsense like this, I seen it once and that's enough. maybe the special effects wouldn't kill me to re-watch but the whole flashback story and terribly boring pointless dialogue really makes this one of the worst superman movies i've seen, Oz The great and powerful - can't say anything to terrible about this one though it has it's ups and downs it is obviously targeted towards children which really means, my say means absolutely nothing. The Hangover part 3: funny stupid and John Goodman, the third sequel does everything they didn't in the second one actually made a sequel while theres some funny moments I still can't say this was a good movie, it can be enjoyable depending on if you're nitpicking or not, but still nothing I could re-watch again and again. Iron Man 3 - It's odd seeing so many people enjoying this film and all though I did at parts their was just to much bs going on for me to actually care, I don't feel like telling you all the problems with this movie but if you look close enough you shall see. World War Z - I already went on about this one, but coming to the conclusion again I am not the target audience. but still im gonna say it, I enjoyed laughing at this film more then anything. Movie 43 - A bunch of little stories wrapped around a 5 second plot can often be extremely funny, probably the most humor in a film i've seen this year but can only say I enjoyed parts of it. Jack and the GIant Slayer - Can't say this was a horrible movie because I walked out on it, just didn't really care about it enough to keep watching after they started to climb the beanstalk. Lots of Movies to watch this year I can't wait for before midnight i'm a huge Linklater fan but I have yet to see before sunrise and the first sequel.
  20. Jessie how are these characters not dumb ? omg i'l just stop posting now I'm gonna go into Cardiac-arrest.
  21. you cannot simply rank Wes Anderson films, everything the man does has heart, soul and let's face it the man is a creative genius when it comes to writing and directing, but then again you will never understand only time will tell how great a film is and the more evolved of us will be able to say that art is not about calling it the best or worst, naming it a or b or giving it 4-5 stars, it's about putting down you're judgement's and seeing things from a different perspective, I hope i've slightly enlightened you're perspectives and helped you understand that their is more out their then just giving something a rank. All his movies have something extremely special about them and are all very re-watchable, and it's often the combination of everything that makes these films so great and of course the uniqueness. But I guess we're all entitled to an opinion and i'm just trying to speak mine.
  22. I might have over-exaggerated how bad this movie was, but just thinking about it makes me think I clearly was not the target audience.
