  1. Then just wait to report the more accurate numbers instead of being the punchline of the joke yet again. $42 million off of a $15 million preview number. What else are you supposed to do except laugh at that asinine projection? Anybody with any semblance of how these numbers tend to work knows that is a joke of a projection for the day.
  2. Yeah this is doing north of $50 million for the day. Deadline really needs to stop it with these way too early numbers, they just look stupid when they end up so far off what it actually ends up being.
  3. Something something something last three movies working against it something something something Numbers went up as the West Coast numbers came in. SHOCKING! And it'll likely go a little higher than this too.
  4. It's good to see the opening weekend cycle isn't broken at least. "Disappointing" preview numbers that will inevitably go up as the West Coast numbers start coming in? CUE THE DOOM AND GLOOM!! always good for a laugh
  5. Homecoming is going to open to over $100 million dollars with rave reviews. Yeah. Those three previous movies sure killed the hype.
  6. I am still crushed at how damn disappointing ID:R was. Trailers made it look pretty epic and then we got...what we got, for the actual movie. First Independence Day was and still is glorious cheesy fun. That Bill Pullman hype speech...WHEW, still awesome.
  7. It does seem like Valerian is going to be a good movie. Hopefully even with the terrible release date, it can have good word of mouth that will carry over into August where it can leg out a nice box office run to end the summer.
  8. It was a weird ass movie. Like, just really all over the place with the plot. I know, all of them have been like that but this was the first one for me that it was really, really noticeable. The action towards the end made up for it somewhat but overall definitely not a movie I'll likely watch again. Oh well, went on discount Tuesday at least. And the final 30-45, 50 minutes of Dark of the Moon has yet to be topped in this series when it comes to action.
  9. Pretty much. Enjoying movies that are mindless eye candy summer spectacles and they know it and run with it isn't going to ruin your e-cred.
  10. The box office for the three movies before Wonder Woman sits at a total of $2.29 billion dollars. Add in what WW has made so far and it's getting close to $3 billion after just four movies. Plus all the merchandise sales. Making money is what it all comes down to and the DCEU was sitting pretty in that regard before Wonder Woman. The fact WW has been so well received and is killing it at the box office is just icing on the cake. This notion anything needed saving continues to be a farce.
  11. The complaints about Batman in BvS still make me laugh. Oh no he killed someone! It's just like every other big screen version of him, except here they weren't afraid to show him actually doing it. Unless people actually think the violent beatdowns we've seen him give the nameless goons over the years didn't leave those goons at best brain dead. Or the Michael Keaton Batman who strapped a bomb to a guys chest and was shown smiling about it as he kicked the guy over the edge and the bomb went off. Batman has always killed people. Audiences just choose to pretend these people he's killed were able to walk off the violent beatings they received.
  12. Lots of internal thoughts from Katniss in the book that's hard to convey in a movie besides her just looking really angry or doing lots of voice work over scenes, which would get old very fast.
  13. Its still managed to gross just over $100 million worldwide. Which isn't too bad with the $69 million dollar budget. Probably end up making a tiny profit on it when it's all said and done.
  14. A group as controversial/ground breaking as NWA was, plus all the in group problems that developed as fame started to come for them, needed a longer movie to tell their story. I was glad it was over 2 hours, would've felt rushed otherwise.
  15. Straight Outta Compton was fantastic. Guy who played Eazy-E looked so much like him at times it was crazy. Hopefully All Eyez on Me is at least decent, Tupac deserves a good movie about him.
  16. What? The Finals are what casual fans watch the most! Part of the reason why these Finals have had such high ratings.
  17. A one off Star Wars movie tells the one story it set out to tell and then ends like everyone knew it would. The end. SHOCKING news, really.
  18. Its not bombing though. Won't set the world on fire but it's going to make a profit when it's all said and done. Certainly enough for them to continue with this universe. Expect a strong Asian presence in whatever movie comes next, much like Age of Extinction had.
  19. Yeah that damn Snyder certainly ruined WW. Ben will get his turn to shine, though most already see him as a great Batman, him and the director of the Apes trilogy? Going to be an amazing Batman movie. Then that dumbass picture will be retired.
  20. Marketing really got going for WW once we got to May, which makes sense with a month to go before the movie came out. Making comparisons to Force Awakens marketing, well, it's a brand new Star Wars movie. Of course you are going to be seeing more marketing for it further out from release. People had been itching for brand new SW for a long time, set years after the events of the original trilogy. Just not really a fair comparison to make.
  21. Forgot about Despicable Me 3. Still, that's not ok until June 30th. WW has just about all month to dominate, which it will.
  22. "Not releasing in a dead period" - so Mummy, Cars 3 and Transformers, all tracking mediocre numbers so far, are going to cut off the legs of a movie with amazing WOM? Nah. Next competition for it isn't until Spider-Man just over a month from now.
