  1. Lion King's Friday actually seems good to me, being basically identical to Aladdin's and only slightly below Toy Story 4's.
  2. One Piece OD Friday: 234,881 (12.4% higher than Weathering With You OD) Lion King OD Friday: 133,862 (8.5% lower than Toy Story 4 OD)
  3. Doubtful. One Piece is extremely frontloaded, and Corpse thinks opening on a Friday this time will deflate the weekend numbers overall.

  5. It doesn't look like there's any pre-Obon boost yet, nor recovery from the deflated weekend due to sunny weather.
  6. South Korea re-release could also do it, although piracy is more rampant there.
  7. I think the reason the Pixar films always get the Labor Day expansion is because they are usually Disney's biggest tentpole for the summer period. This year seems to be the exception, with the Lion King being their biggest summer film instead of Toy Story 4. 2014 didn't have a summer Pixar film, but Guardians of the Galaxy got a small expansion. Toy Story 4 has also been holding theaters much better than other summer Pixar films. By the time of the Labor Day weekend, I think its theater count will still be high enough that it won't be able to expand nearly as much as past summer Pixar films.
  8. Every time I see that list, I'm just reminded of that early DVD/Blu-ray release cutting off Frozen's legs.
  9. With actuals, WW total up by $700K. Total Lifetime Grosses Domestic: $350,477,077 34.2% + Foreign: $675,795,868 65.8% = Worldwide: $1,026,272,945
  10. WW total up almost $150K after actuals. Every little bit counts at this stage. 😉 Total Lifetime Grosses Domestic: $857,479,493 30.7% + Foreign: $1,937,175,567 69.3% = Worldwide: $2,794,655,060
  11. OS actuals went up by $1 million. Total Lifetime Grosses Domestic: $410,249,874 42.7% + Foreign: $550,201,018 57.3% = Worldwide: $960,450,892
  12. With actuals, WW total increased by $4 million. Total Lifetime Grosses Domestic: $431,163,100 35.9% + Foreign: $768,612,731 64.1% = Worldwide: $1,199,775,831
  13. They accidentally inputted Dark Phoenix's weekend estimate number instead. Look how those two numbers were identical.
  14. I think an IMAX re-release for Endgame would still make good money despite it being out on Blu-ray at that point. It needs an additional push somewhere to hit an even $2.8 billion WW.
  15. Alice was a far more original take but the end product was dreadfully dull for me. BatB, while a lesser version of the 1991 film, still had charm in the musical numbers and story. Though that speaks more to how amazing the animated version really was.
  16. Hmm, I guess it's not as bad as I remembered. You can hear a little in the beginning of this trailer. It didn't affect my enjoyment of the film at all, but I did think the voice didn't really match the age of the character.
  17. It's been a while since I watched this, but I remember the voice of the younger sister (Japanese version) was super irritating.
  18. Not passing TS3 in yen would be a slightly disappointing result after that gigantic OW.
  19. Yeah, the new CGI films lack the beauty and charm of the traditional 2D films. CGI has worked well for Western animation, but I don't think it's a good fit for anime properties.
  20. In 3 weeks. Expectations are around $200 million for now, although it could go higher.
  21. Aladdin's OW was actually $91.5 million to be precise. So $360 million would give it a 3.93x multiplier. Needs $366 million to hit an even 4x multiplier.
