  1. Erm. No. Wall-E, Ratatouille, Up, Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles. All better.
  2. There's smart-dumb and there's dumb-dumb. Zoolander and Dumb and Dumber are examples of films that are smart about how they depict dumb characters.
  3. Has nothing to do with intelligence and culture. The fact you even framed the conversation in that manner shows that you don't understand what I'm talking about. There are dumb, unfunny comedies like Ride Along and Grown Ups and there are witty, funny comedies like 21 Jump Street and Neighbors. Critics are not as biased as people would like to believe. They just have a low tolerance for dumb, easy jokes. I don't mind that movies like Ride Along do well as long as the Neighbors and 21 Jump Streets keep succeeding.
  4. No. It's because a lot of movies targeted towards those demographics are dumbed down.
  5. Nicole Kidman's problem is she's good at playing icy bitches, so even when she's delivering a good performance, it's hard to notice because she's playing such an unlikable character. Best example is Rabbit Hole.
  6. We don't know that it's being considered. We've literally heard nothing on the subject except Simon Kinberg saying he was still on board in a recent interview.
  7. Tatum playing Gambit, large-scale destruction, and nobody has actually said Singer's not directing.
  8. 2011 was one of the worst years for me as far as what I loved meshing with what films got all of the awards attention. Take Shelter, Drive, Shame, Apes, and Dragon Tattoo were my favorites that year, and all of the big Best Pic contenders (The Artist, Hugo, Tree of Life) didn't connect with me.
  9. I haven't seen either. What I'm saying is it might be in their financial interest. For some reason, besides Shrek, they can't seem to crack it when it comes to producing sequels to their hits.
  10. Yikes. Well, I think we can all agree that perhaps Dreamworks should stop making sequels. First Panda 2, now this.
  11. No. I think maybe people upped their predictions when May's slate either underperformed or didn't break out in a big way.
  12. That's terrible. That's a nearly 50% drop for a kid's movie that didn't even open huge. This summer is fucking nuts.
  13. DOFP is more or less meeting expectations. And barring the high expectations that the OW created, Godzilla already surpassed my predictions for it. I didn't have it crossing 150mil.
  14. I'm not as much of an expert when it comes to box office as others here, so can someone explain why a big Sat increase (like nearly every animated film usually receives) for Dragon isn't in the cards?
  15. The less I keep up with the consensus on predictions, the more I realize you guys get your expectations too high. Anything over 60mil for Dragon is okay in my book.
  16. Good trailer. Interesting to see them holding back on the jokes.
  17. I assumed your post was in response to my comment about "video game adaptations getting the short end when it comes to directors."
