  1. I wouldn't call it financially disappointing just yet (artistically yes). The opening was never going to match the first, no matter what people here think. And a 60% 2nd weekend drop is fairly normal these days for record-breaking openers. It doesn't mean good word of mouth, but it doesn't mean bad either. Its performance following this weekend will tell the tale. I'm also not so certain why we're still prioritizing domestic grosses so much when it's plainly obvious that the studios aren't.
  2. I like it better when Tarantino works with actors for the first time. Another western with a who's who of his usual Rolodex doesn't excite me as much as it should.
  3. I'm laughing at all this wishful thinking. It's not going to jump 7-9mil. 5mil at most.
  4. Somewhere I read it was PG-13. Yeah, nevermind. And you're right, 125 mil would be good for it, but that's still competition.
  5. Well, sure, but the trailer is good enough to get people into theaters. Happens all the time.
  6. I was rooting for it to come under 200mil, fool. Know who you're talking to.
  7. What makes people think Mad Max won't do well? That trailer is gorgeous.
  8. It amazes me how you guys never learn. It WAS unrealistic to think this would surpass the first on OW. Typically franchises (we'll call the Avengers its own franchise for argument's sake) don't hit their ceiling with the first movie, but The Avengers did.
  9. This is a dumb statement considering he's great in The Hurt Locker.
  10. I want something of a sizable drop because maybe, just maybe it'll prompt Marvel to change some things. They're headed in the wrong direction in my opinion.
  11. Too bad all this money couldn't go to a better blockbuster. I'd give it a B+ but it could've been better.
  12. A lot of those actors have had it rough. Elijah's had it good compared to Sean Astin. He does have Wilfred and the occasionally indie. Astin's stuck doing mostly voice work now. Only Viggo, McKellen, Sean Bean, and Blanchett have seen major success since.
  13. Hardy chooses a lot of small films that never have a chance of catching on. Child 44, Locke, The Drop, etc.
  14. Afraid there might be a huge drop in store for Fast 7 today. Theater is dead and it starts in 20
  15. Lots of people I know are talking about it. That rarely happens.
  16. The Conjuring is scarier, but It Follows is better everywhere else.
  17. Greatest horror film I've seen in a long time. Not the absolute scariest, but it's got ten times more style and talent than the majority of the genre.
  18. I don't care what studio's doing the best. I care which are producing the best, and right now that's not Disney outside of animation and some of the Marvel entries.
  19. If you like the original Halloween and don't go to horror movies just to be scared, I highly recommend It Follows. Not the scariest horror flick, but damn does it have style in spades.
  20. Not the actual title, just what I'm calling a Rogen and Gordon-Levitt comedy about guys looking for a spectacular X-mas party in NY City on Christmas Eve.
  21. Why not: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 170/575 The Avengers: Age of Ultron - 187/550 Mockingjay - 159/405 Jurassic World - 113/310 Spectre - 92/275 Inside Out - 72/260 Minions - 80/255 Furious 7 - 110/250 The Good Dinosaur - 58/220 Cinderella - 67/210 Tomorrowland - 57/200 Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - 65/190 Ted 2 - 70/185 The Fantastic Four - 50/180 Pixels - 46/175 Fifty Shades of Grey - 85/170 Sponge Out of Water - 55/165 Home - 53/160 BOO - 45/155 Monster Trucks - 40/150 Insurgent - 52/145 Pitch Perfect 2 - 42/135 Kingsman: The Secret Service - 36/130 Ant-Man - 43/125 Fury Road - 39/120 Trainwreck - 31/115 Everest - 28/115 Christmas Eve - 27/110 Pan - 38/110 The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials - 33/105 Joy - 22/105 The Walk - 23/105 Crimson Peak - 26/100 Get Hard - 34/100
  22. I think Star Wars is going to out gross Avengers. 1. Star Wars - 575 2. Avengers - 550 3. Mockingjay - 405 4. Jurassic World - 310 5. Spectre - 275 6. Inside Out - 260 7. Minions - 250 8. Furious 7 - 250 9. The Good Dinosaur - 220 10. Cinderella - 210
  23. The show was good for its first 4 or 5 seasons. Since then it's been nothing but easy jokes and relationship humor that's not that great.
  24. Oh, I didn't realize the weekend numbers had been released. It could easily fall short of 50mil for the weekend.
