As a malaysian, i can tell you that, politically we may against china espeically taiwan and Singapore, but when come to cultural matter like movie or singer, we were strongly attached to china to some extent, like japan and china are unhappy about each other, or even have some conflict, but your name still doing very well in china, while US-japan are known be politically alliance, but none of the Japanese cultural product scored big number at the box office recently. In short, i will say, politically conflict may not interrupt the flow of cultural sense.

AS I recall, TFA pre-sales lied heavily on 1st day of release and christmas day, while R1 doesn't have much CD sales, this was due to marketing, in the early trailer of TFA, they keep mentioning "This christmas", leading a lot of general public to "believe" that the 1st day of release was CD, hence making pre-sales were go to CD

TFA did about $6.6m in malaysia last year, good but not a great number as it even fall behind the ant-man, nearly catch up by san-andreas, and three mega-blockbuster, JW,avengers 2 and FF7 were all scored $10m above with FF7 even reached $16m+ I must say, here in malaysia, hype for star wars really not that strong

taking SW7 from UK as $163m is not a fair, if you clicked into the weekend box office display, the figure accumulated should stand at $180m, as SW7 make some sort of re-issue on sept, BOM was just conveniently took all of the previous figure against the ex.rate that time. I dont think disney will "accept" that discounted total figure, and the BOM had shown fluctuating accumulated total....is doesn't make too much sense....

Phantom Menace: terrible acting, mindless plot, boring and broken story, I wish I can unseen it..... Attack of the Clone: Even worse, even disgusting acting and dialogue, the clone wars only started in the end, messy plotline..... Revenge of the sith, Too-packed, the end of clone wars + Jedi purge + Reveal of darth sidious + Born of darth vader.....too much defining moment in one movie, overall still enjoyable, I like this more than return of jedi...The palpetine really work here! What i dont understand about prequel is why George Lucas started the story with small Anakin? it was too backward, the 1st movie should be the preclude of clone wars event, Attack of the Clone should be the midst of Clone wars, connected the clone wars with the death of anakin's mom, while the last can be more detailed about how jedi defeated. TFA surely enjoyable and everytime it gave me a chill when I see R2D2 and BB8 completing the map together, the whole EP7 works like a transition ceremony for me from old character to new character. But i still wont give TFA a high rating because I knew why it's work on me, because I damnly love the original trilogy!!! TFA storyline of coz is working as it just "copy" the ingredient of OT and make a new one....TFA may not be a good sequel but surely a good remake.....
