  1. superhero films never breakout in japan, except spiderman at least, even the dark knight trilogy were very weak in japan, and each of the marvel offering never pass ¥4billion yen, while you can see others franchise like Harry Potter, Pirate of Caribbean, Star wars, they were all able to challenge ¥10b yen uber-blockbuster level! Even frozen did ¥25b in japan, so we can see how japanese are inert towards the global superhero-hype recently.....deadpool relatively good performance is totally a surprise!
  2. I was surprised that toy story 3 wasn't in the top 5 all time, didn't it perform phenomenal in mexico?
  3. only 3.6m pound this weekend for dory, 55% drop!
  4. Suicide Squad Operation Chromite The Last Princess Train to Busan SLOP
  5. japan should be the biggest overseas market for dory ahead of china by end of this week! today's gross is again, stay about on par with last thrusday (+4%) while others have 30%+ drop except pokemon, fall only 15%. Should the new releases this week are weak, dory has a real chance to back on top again in its 4th week....but that's unlikely since two local strong contenders will be hitting saturday~
  6. the soft monday drop this week is because of discount day for every movie with ¥1100 yen on every 1st day of the month, while wednesday gain is attributed to ladies's day where woman can get discounted price for ticket.... the general trend is that the weekdays gross should roughly the same from mon-fri and have a small peak on wednesday....and big gain on weekend!
  7. no official number yet, but drop roughly 33% on monday from sunday, tuesday drop 45% from monday while gain 30% for wednesday.....based on the sampling count.
  8. what a crowded market, so many blockbusters !!!
  9. dory has another excellent wednesday, stay even from last week while others drop about 30%+ the “sizeable drop” of the thread should been removed.....
  10. japan is dory biggest hope now as it holding especially well there, Sk could have been a great recovery since its monday and tuesday grow a big 50% gain from previous week, but will be demolished by that fucking SLOP, which release tomorrow!! how can SK be able to sustain 3 hollywood animated films!!! Dory is going drop harsh tomorrow in SK
  11. is dory going to be hurt badly tomorrow since SLOP has come to SK? just the time where dory recovery finally arrive, another punch onto dory......sad
  12. well, after increase for over 70% yesterday from previous week, dory seem to have another great day, tuesday's gross is about even(+1%) from last week's tuesday, which had increase for 60%. The others pics drop 30% to 40% from previous week on tuesday except dory as mentioned. Dory actually top Godzilla and one-piece for monday and tuesday, and tomorrow is woman's day which could turn to be another great day for dory as it feature female character at centre. While godzilla and one piece still doing great business, godzilla seem break ¥1b Yen today and the overall market seem decent for now.
  13. what is the total for brazil now? japan has dory with $31m, and this is not even including its amazing monday (1/8), which increase 73% in admission from past monday
  14. any reason to explain this sudden come back? it's dory 2nd's monday to increase over the week
  15. when is the obon holiday start this year? 11/8 is the public holiday for obon is it? that mean we have 4 days weekend next week!
  16. was nemo release during summer? i thought it was released year-end?
  17. Dory is doing very well for discount day, more than 70% increase from last week, and even top Shin Godzilla and one piece
  18. what making me worry more is that pixar's films tend to make lesser in germany compared to france, examined by the past data.
  19. but what i afraid is, germany's gross somewhat is highly correlated to france, look at the past figure, two markets seem tends to affect each others......Given the dory's performance in france, I'm started to worry.......
  20. Having passed the $800m mark at the global box office on Thursday [July 28], Finding Dory now stands at $830.5m worldwide to make it the fifth highest grossing film of the year to date. Overseas, Pixar’s latest added $23.6m from its 46 territories for $361.5m to date. The bulk of its weekend haul came from an estimated $10.8m chart-topping bow in the UK, the second biggest opening Fri-Sun tally for Pixar in the market. In Japan, Finding Dory remained the leading overseas release for the third consecutive weekend with a drop of only 6% and a local tally of $30.9m. Its next major opening comes in Italy on Sept 15.
