  1. After the OW, I said that Ant-Man 2 was disappointing. It now seems that I was being too optimistic.
  2. Way better. I am still trying to figure out what was so great about Fury Road. Other than the now well established, PC premium, that is enough to turn several bang average films into masterpieces each and every year.
  3. Mad Max must be the most overrated film of the last decade (along with Black Panther) BTW, not saying that this is the case with MI6 as well.
  4. England are lucky that James Rodriguez is out injured. Otherwise Colombia would be favorites.
  5. I agree with *some* of your comments. But are you sure you like movies at all?
  6. This trend has been getting more pronounced for years now. Less and less minor hits, and more and more mega-hits. Due to several factors, the BO is getting more and more concentrated into very few mega-movies.
  7. There are always sleeper hits that make it over 100M. Also, some high-profile releases that fail utterly. It all depends on which tendency will gain the upper hand.
  8. Hereditary was supposed to implode after a good opening night. Or am I missing something?
  9. Is it fair to say that Incredibles 2 is likely to make over $600M domestic? I think so.
  10. Those came well before. Both were summer 1997 movies. Titanic was released along with Brosnan's 2nd Bond film in December 1997. Along with Titanic, there were another two much smaller but extremely impressive hits, As Good As It Gets (with Jack Nicholson) and Good Will Hunting (Matt Damon's and Ben Affleck's breakout movie) Those three movies were legging it out long mother*******rs. If I am not mistaken, Lost In Space was supposed to dethrone Titanic at some stage, but it flopped badly. In the end, it was unseated by another DiCaprio movie, The Man in the Iron Mask. But yes, overall, Titanic did not have to face great competition. Still, its global run is the most impressive in the last 3 decades at least.
  11. Yes, the MCU's greatness and unique achievement is the ability to score multiple hits in a single year, every year! No other franchise in the history of cinema has come anywhere near close to that. And out of all of MCU's hits, AIW is the biggest and better.
  12. Can A4 be as good as A3? I doubt this, as the need to have a happy ending will possibly compromise the quality of A4. That is my fear at least. @Asyulus
  13. I am eagerly awaiting for Hereditary myself, the trailer looks very interesting. FWITW, I thought that The Witch was awesome, while It Follows and The Babadook were quite good.
  14. If I am not mistaken, AIW is now the all-time champ in Brazil and now in Chile. Did it achieve the same feat in any other Latin American countries?
  15. Yes, you are correct. The unluckiest blockbuster in terms of FX, was Rogue One. The dollar was mighty strong when it came out at the end of 2016. Back in December of 2016, the euro was hovering at only $1.05
  16. Even though AIW & TFA have made virtually identical WW totals, it is quite astonishing to observe the regional variations between the two. TFA is vastly bigger in the rich world, whereas AIW totally obliterates Star Wars VII everywhere else. In Europe & Japan especially, the advantage of Star Wars VII over Avengers III, is ginormous. My preliminary explanation for this phenomenon is that this is probably down to the average age of the US/EU/JAP (especially the latter two) being way higher than in the rest of the world. But I am sure there are other reasons as well. Also, I can't help but thinking how much more AIW would have made if the FX cycle was in any other phase. Could we be talking Avatar numbers?
  17. Yes, and Japan also almost made another $100M for TFA. AIW, on the other hand, is mega in some mid-sized markets, such as Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong. Basically, it has been a juggernaut in all of East Asia. On the other hand, it's such a shame that Latin American currencies are at such an ebb right now, otherwise we would have seen some eye-watering numbers from that region.
  18. If I am not mistaken, continental Europe is basically far and away the worst box-office region for SH movies.
  19. Yes, you are right, AIW has already overtaken Mamma Mia for the 10th spot on the all-time list. On another note, very high concentration of Harry Potter movies (6) James Bond (4) Middle-Earth (4) and Star Wars (4), also 2 Avengers movies, plus another MCU entry with Black Panther.
  20. I find it a bit strange that AIW has just barely cracked into the all Time Top 10 (in local currency) at the UK box-office. It's getting close (but will be very difficult to overtake) to Mamma Mia, BatB and Toy Story 3. Titanic, The Last Jedi, Avatar, Spectre, Skyfall and Tho Force Awakens are miles ahead. Especially TFA which was (relatively speaking) an even bigger monster in the UK than in the US.
