So happy for Paramount, Emily Blunt and Jim from The Office.
I'm watching it Sunday with a party of like 15. I've been pimping it for weeks and now my gang turned it into an event. Although horror doesn't need help in this market.
Theater was packed for this. Movie was not great, but watchable. It had the typical Hollywood smarmimess and predictable emotional beats. It was a standard by-the-numbers blockbuster. My friends thought it was ok and "a masterpiece next to Tomb Raider or Pacific Rim 2".
One exposition heavy scene was shit and everyone hated it. I thought Spielberg was better than that.
It came out on my 17th birthday, so I forgive its flaws.
Man, carnival, duuuudeeee. I had to put up with my best friend's brother-in-law's racist homophobic rant. He was very drunk, so every time I told him I disagreed with his crap he just laughed and kept going.
Drunk people suck.
Not Paramount. But the creators of Geostorm do. It's been mentioned before in the thread. I hope you missed it or that you are American, otherwise you're proving them right.
Reports are that Skydance thought it was too smart for the plebs so they tried to dumb it down. Rudin had final cut and said no, so Paramount had to get the Netflix deal done to placate Skydance. So, it seems like it's a case of it being too good.
Like The Host? *shudders*
Next year she has a Chekhov adaptation and is also playing Mary Stuart (with Margot Robbie playing Elizabeth Tudor). One of those is good and she's getting number 4.
