  1. This is why I prefer more 'performable' song nominations, so that the songs can be performed. Many of them make for a fun watch!
  2. 1. Isle of Dogs 2. Tomb Raider 3. I Can Only Imagine 4. A Wrinkle in Time 5. Strangers: Prey at Night 6. Paul, Apostle of Christ 7. Unsane 8. Ready Player One 9. Lens on Pete 10. Journey's End
  3. I saw a five minute advertisement for this on YouTube. Here was the voiceover dialogue: "The reviews are in..." "Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes." "Annihilation." "In theaters now." Paramount with that clutch last minute Hail Mary.
  4. I'm sure that, if you pursued stand-up comedy, the applause you'd receive would be thunderous.
  5. That was intentional; I wanted to choose pictures that would invoke the sounds from the films and I think the pictures themselves represent their corresponding films more than their titles do.
  6. Kings is a very interesting-looking movie about a foster family dealing with the LA riots of 1965. It has a very good director (Deniz Gamze Ergüven coming off of the Oscar-nominated foreign film Mustang) and two very good starring actors (Halle Berry and Daniel Craig). The Orchard as a distributor is very small, but manages respectable releases in the platform spectrum, and sometimes, their releases can gain the interest of film pundits (What We Do in the Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, The Wave, The Overnight, and many documentaries). Kings releases in limited release on April 27th. In terms of quality films released in 2018, this looks like something to keep an eye on.
  7. And now, for... Best Sound Nominee #1: Nominee #2: Nominee #3: Nominee #4: And the winner is:
  8. They're not bringing back the original cast members, either... Thematically, this sounds very unnecessary. However, the angle they are taking where he goes to the 1949 Billy Graham crusade... people will want to see this as a memorial of Billy Graham, the very influential pastor speaker who passed away today. So in that sense, there may be a draw. I'm not counting on it, but I always hold out hope that the next film Pure Flix puts out is the one that sees filmmakers choosing to put in more effort.
  9. I have the same feeling. J.A. Bayona is a creative enough director to surpass people's expectations. (We already see creative implementation, such as the shot in the child's room where the dinosaur's shadow rises from the rocking horse.) In fact, I almost came to this thread to voice my disappointment about even more franchising, but I now remember that the Jurassic Park franchise has had an atypical release pattern similar to Star Wars (before Disney bought them), so I'm a lot less irritated at the announcement of this particular threequel. Especially if Bayona pulls an Empire Strikes Back. And I typically like to root for the cast members of Parks and Recreation, so I am also happy for Chris Pratt.
  10. Still, many films would be lucky to have those legs. There has to be a reason why the film didn't completely nosedive.
  11. I think he is campaigning for Annihilation to have #1 for the week.
  12. Historical patterns in regards to celebrated science fiction films (Ex Machina; Blade Runner 2049).
  13. The great reviews come as no surprise to me. I'm sure Paramount gained a hefty amount of money from the Netflix deal, and that the domestic release will become a cherry on top through strong legs driven by excellent word of mouth.
  14. It'll be the only category I cover tonight, but I'm gonna reveal... Best Comedy Feature Nominee #1: Nominee #2: Nominee #3: Nominee #4: And my winner...

  16. I'm sure there's gonna be a degree of Sci-fi pundits driving the film's legs through word of mouth. At least, legs may save the film from being an absolute massive flop.
  17. I was wondering when Jennifer Lopez would have her next movie released. And I'm sure Milo Ventimiglia is a dash of added star power for those who like This Is Us.
