  1. I think Rogue One deserves its noms. It was really good and I think it is the only movie in 2016 I saw twice besides Star Trek Beyond and Zootopia. You know a film is doing something right when the viewer doesn't cry the first time, but actually cries the second time! (Yeah, I got emotional the second time. To see the will of the force overcome such adversity... even dodging the very grasp of Darth Vader himself... I was overwhelmed!)
  2. Kate Beckinsale is a complete surprise to me. I remember wanting to see that movie but coming short. I haven't seen any of the horror films because I don't like horror. I think I'll vote for Don't Breathe because it is original. I was kinda hoping Sing Street would sneak into Best Picture but all of the nominees are pretty good all around the board. Shout-out to Eye in the Sky for getting the surprise Best Film Editing nom even though I didn't see that movie. Movies that I want to see more than I previously did include: Arrival Hunt for the Wilderpeople Hacksaw Ridge Kubo and the Two Strings Silence
  3. Cars 3 - I really think it's going to be extremely good, good enough to deserve the nomination. Coco - Original Pixar, enough said. Loving Vincent - It is the world's first feature film entirely painted, that alone is a feat in its own right. The Story of Ferdinand - I'm thinking it surprises. The source material provides good opportunity. The Thousand Miles - The Illusionist released seven years after The Triplets of Belleville, so I think this one will release seven years after The Illusionist. This guy has yet to fail, so I'm thinking he'll get a nomination. I have this pressing feeling that Mary and the Witch's Flower is either a ways off or not good enough. Either would be a shame though.
  4. Sing Street is one of my favorites of the year regardless. I didn't actually see The Edge of Seventeen, but a family member saw it on my behalf, and even though the family member usually dislikes the art-inclined films, the family member actually liked it, so I felt comfortable giving it the nominations that it supposedly deserved! I'm sure I would have liked it too.

Some categories' nominations, such as Best Picture, are entirely derived of films that I actually saw, and, of course, if I actually saw the movie, the chances of me deciding to give it other nominations went way up (a.k.a why Florence Foster Jenkins has so many nominations). Movies that I wish to have seen but couldn't include Arrival, Kubo and the Two Strings, Lion, Deepwater Horizon, Moana, The Nice Guys, and The BFG.) (And I never actually saw any of those documentaries, miniseries / TV movies, and foreign films with the exception of The Wave, so I based that on what I wanted to support.)
  6. Bridges: When he's sitting across the bank with Gil Birmingham while waiting for the hypothetical robbery to happen.
  7. I know it's an opinion that's in the minority, but I thought Meryl Streep did a wonderful job in Florence Foster Jenkins and really does deserve this nomination. It must have been hard to deliberately sing bad and off key! If I had actually seen Arrival then I probably would have liked Amy Adams's performance as well. I wanted to and I almost did but I just couldn't get to it in time! Emma Stone in La La Land was great too!
  8. Sing Street was robbed. All those good songs with no Oscars to show for it. Sing Street would've gotten something if La La Land wasn't in the mix, for sure.
  9. So it's not releasing on January 22nd? (Come to think of it, that's today...)
  10. If the January 22nd, 2017 release date on Wind River's Google page is anything to go by, Wind River is probably releasing way too early anyways.
  11. Gotta get my ballot in soon, but in the meantime, here's one more... For Your Consideration! Little Men Best Picture Best Ensemble Best Supporting Actress (Paulina García) Best Original Screenplay Best Cinematography Best Original Score Best Overlooked Feature Little Men is a really good film that premiered at last year's Sundance festival and it's available on Netflix! Definitely worth watching and considering!
  12. 1. Star Wars: Episode VIII 2. Dunkirk 3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 4. Coco 5. Downsizing 6. Thor: Ragnarok 7. Ghost in the Shell 8. Cars 3 9. Granite Mountain 10. Okja
  13. Downsizing Dunkirk First Man Granite Mountain The Greatest Showman on Earth Kathryn Bigelow's New Film Mother Paul Thomas Anderson's New Film The Snowman Star Wars Episode VIII
  14. Thanks to Hidden Figures' success at the box office as of late, I think it's got more of a chance at a nomination. When it comes to box office, Hidden Figures certainly displayed it's Hidden Figures in terms of cash. (I'm sorry, the joke was too good to pass up.)
  15. Kelly Fremon Craig deserved it too!
  16. I was surprised to see La La Land win for score at the Globes because when you think about it, most of the music borrows from the songs.
  17. I know right? In my opinion, if it's gotta be a franchise/superhero film, let it be Doctor Strange, or Fantastic Beasts, or Rogue One, or The Jungle Book, or even Civil War for that matter. (I say this as a person that doesn't care for raunchiness that much. For those that do, Deadpool's successes are probably substantial.)
  18. I think Silence is done after this miss.
  19. I saw that recently, and that fim truly has some sights to behold imo! Very imaginative moments for sure, especially the part when the boat rises from beneath the ocean.
