  1. 1. Barry Lyndon 2. Chinatown 3. Cabaret figure out the rest later.
  2. I'll send tomorrow. Been catching up with some previously unseen stuff. Hoop Dreams, The Last Seduction, Cold Water all excellent, top 10 material. Still have time to do Eat Drink Man Woman and In the Mouth of Madness.
  3. Congrats and thanks to y'all for being such worthy competition, even if there's unfortunately fewer of us than in previous years. @MrPink I shall await your revenge.
  4. without having seen either movie i know i'm just stoking the garbage fire but honestly low-key rooting for Driver to win just cause it'll piss off the fanboys.
  5. Endgame rerelease can go eat all the shit. It was all set to go under 845 before they pulled that nonsense and it cost me 37k & getting the best score in that question.
  6. I doubt OUATIH can win picture but I think if The Irishman underwhelms Tarantino could become a favorite in best director.
  7. endgame kicked off the summer a week early; It did not close the summer a week late, it kicked off the fall. so yeah, for the "summer game" to continue past labor day - or to begin a week before the first big tentpole, like last year - i think is nonsensical. not a life or death question, obviously, but that's my opinion.
  8. Gotta love how Annabelle just jumped over Yesterday to take #15 at the last second on account of making 800k this weekend thanks to an It fudge.
  9. I mean if you see critics identify a theme of the movie as "don't be an entitled prick" and immediately take that personally it says more about you than it does about the movie
  10. Pain and Glory won't be a player there. This, Marriage Story, Parasite, OUATIH, Farewell sounds about right.
  11. tbh if it weren't for marriage story i'd be predicting a screenplay win after all these reactions.
  12. Read the first chapter of the book (three dozen or so pages) online out of curiosity the other day. Liked it ok (though it has a frustrating everything-and-the-kitchen-sink way of trying to immerse you into its world) but I have no idea how you could possibly adapt that into something that's meaningful and satisfying as a chunk of movie. It's got nice cinematic atmosphere but also it's like 80% memory and internal/headspace stuff, hardly translatable visually unless you're doing a miniseries and/or you're prepared to make it totally unconventional and uncommercial. AA Dowd mentioned on Twitter that instead they just use lots of heavy-handed voiceover which is of course the lamest shit. It's almost as if this was designed to be a work of literature and not any other medium.
  13. Sure, don't let not having seen him or any other contenders except one stop you.
  14. I actually assume if anything being in a movie with three sure bets is gonna help him a la Jacki Weaver in SLP/Cooper in American Hustle.
