  1. I honestly thought Norm of the North did similar numbers to The Wild Life. Your prediction is probably about right then. I'll look up how much it made here and try compare it to what it would be USA numbers, but it's 3:30AM here so I'm going to sleep.
  2. Zach Woods as a ninja robot has sold me on this movie. I'm in. This is gonna be good.
  3. That's why I said the reviews are decent . I can't see it doing too well, personally. There's been virtually zero marketing. Maybe a $10-15M total.
  4. This was really great. It's pretty much a perfect example of an emotional rollercoaster, but it never felt unrealistic. In fact, it was probably one of the most brutally real films I've ever watched. I was shocked at how funny it was; it probably made me laugh more than a lot of the comedies I saw in 2016. Casey Affleck delivers a mean punch alongside a truly incredible performance. The supporting cast is equally incredible, particularly Michelle Williams and Lucas Hedges. They are all very much worthy of their nominations. The scene that stuck with me the most is the scene in the police station, when Lee grabs the Police Officers gun. That was tough to watch, but it was excellent filmmaking. I really enjoyed this. A from me.
  5. Pretty sure this is like the third title I've seen for this movie. Got released recently as Ballerina here. The reviews are decent though.
  6. Me when I see how low Everybody Wants Some!! is. At least Wilderpeople probably made the top 15.
  7. I just don't want to run this sub-forum down with films that can never be considered classics. Cinema died the second we ticked over to the new millennium.
  8. This isn't a classic though. Classics have to be pre-2000 @Telemachos.
  9. It's a New Zealand film. I may have mentioned it a few times.
  10. Nice list! I really like your writeups. I'm gonna see Lion and Manchester by the Sea today, so hopefully I like them as much as you did. Can't help but think that there's something missing from your list though.
  11. This is another example of a movie involving water that had a budget spiral out of control. The curse of the seas, I tell you.
  12. @grim22's second thing he posted says that Costner denies that happening. But maybe he's saving face. Who knows.
  13. I think RDJ could get away with it, but only in Marvel movies. He had something crazy like 5 trailers on the set of Civil War, IIRC.
  14. Yeah. To be fair, he had a string of some really good films around then. I've watched a few recently and I've highly enjoyed them.
  15. What someone at the studio should have done: Don't think Costner has that kind of clout these days.
  16. The schedule is way too packed to pull a stunt like that these days. Although I could see a TFA re-release leading up to TLJ or something.
  17. It's interesting how high the budgets go for a lot of movies involving a lot of water. Just take a look at the fucking ridiculous budgets of the POTC franchise, alongside stuff like this and Cutthroat Island. I think that's the primary reason why Waterworld's budget got so out of control; it's really hard to make a movie in the sea. Even Spielberg struggled with Jaws when the shark kept breaking down. Although that worked out in the end .
