  1. Dredd (2012). I loved that movie. I always wanted a movie that was true to the character. I adore 2000 AD. It should have been a hit. But Lionsgate distributed it. Fuck that studio. Yes. I hate Lionsgate that much.
  2. Attack on Titan Parts 1 & 2 were both subtitled. I would expect the same for Shin Godzilla.
  3. Nobody knows. The Parent Herald started an unverified rumor that the movie would be released on June 8, 2018 (a date previously held by Godzilla 2). This was back in July. The site also made a claim that Gil Kenan has denied that the movie has been canceled on his Twitter account, yet they failed to provide a URL for this as well and I can't find said Tweet. However, last year Gil Kenan did share images on his Instagram that got people talking. So far, the only concrete information we've received came from Scott Cawthon, who said that the script is still being worked on. That's all the official information we have right now.
  4. I remember watching Ouija on Halloween night two years ago. It wasn't a good movie, and the trailers are not convincing enough to get me to see it on opening weekend. I'll wait to see what everyone else thinks, and even then I may just rent it instead.
  5. I stand corrected. Sony spent $100 million, but partnerships with other companies such as McDonald's allowed it to push a $300 million promotional campaign for the movie. http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/cotown/la-et-ct-angry-birds-sony-20160517-snap-story.html
  6. I'm surprised that they're going forward with it considering that so much money was spent to market the first film.
  7. From now on, I'm taking everything Variety says with a tablespoon of salt.
  8. Not sure if the estimates were incorrect, but Variety is reporting that The Secret Life of Pets claimed the #1 spot for the second weekend in a row. Shin Gojira still holds the #2 spot and apparently has grossed only $38 million as opposed to the project $42.5 million that I continue to see on other websites. http://variety.com/2016/film/asia/japan-box-office-pets-wins-second-weekend-1201841988/
  9. A friend of mine was in the animation business. I say that he was in the animation business because the pay was $50,000 a year in a city where breathing is expensive (Los Angeles), and he was expected to devote free time to projects just to ensure that deadlines were met. He couldn't take it and only lasted two years over there. Where I live, $50,000 sounds like a middle class salary, but that's absolutely not the case in Los Angeles where I hear houses can cost north of $700,000 depending on where one looks. But what I've heard about the animators for Sausage Party is one hundred times worse. Tiernan and Vernon should have had no part in this movie's production. They sound like the bosses that nobody wants.
  10. Someone shared this image of a possible release date on Facebook: *Wrapped in spoiler tags because image is fairly big.* Also, a New Mexico theater has the film listed for October 11th through October 20th. http://www.jeancocteaucinema.com/film/godzilla-resurgence-shin-godzilla/ It appears that Shin Godzilla is looking at a mid-October release in the United States.
  11. Someone I know found out that the poster with the starry night sky released earlier this year is an edited stock photo. I don't know how common this is in the industry, but damn it just seems lazy.
  12. Saw it tonight. Huge crowd, and the laughter was contagious. I'm not sure if I'd seen it alone I would be laughing, but I had a good time anyways. I'm not going to rate it because what I think is funny usually ends up being viewed as stupid by many people I speak to. I will say that I felt it was worth the money. However, it bothers me that there were three children under the age of 10 in the theater. They all had parents, and they sat through the entire thing. The times have changed, I guess...
  13. This is a nice yield for Shin Gojira before the influx of Hollywood films comes in. To think that it could make $50 million....I predicted a $30 million gross at the most.
  14. Director Zhang Yimou says that there is no "whitewashing" in The Great Wall: http://collider.com/the-great-wall-matt-damon-controversy-zhang-yimou/ Not that I really care, but if people took this kind of anger and put it toward real issues, said individuals could probably make some kind of difference in the world. But I guess it's easier to complain about a movie about a Chinese landmark that features a white man as the lead.
  15. There's still seven months left. I wouldn't be worried yet. As long as they don't market it like they did Dredd, it should be fine. Maybe...
  16. I would be happy if it made $40 million+. I don't think a Toho Godzilla movie has made that much (unadjusted for inflation).
  17. It seems that nobody knows because the numbers only counted Saturday and Sunday. Friday wasn't included in these totals.
  18. I guess it's safe to assume that judging by these numbers, the money it made on Friday probably bumped it to $7-8 million. Cool beans.
  19. I'm not really surprised, considering that Hideaki Anno is at the helm. But it gives me more reasons to be excited.
  20. $300 million overseas, tops. Keeping it within the range of Godzilla (2014) for now.
