  1. Good move. This would have disappeared in the summer. Whether the movie is good or bad we don’t know but at least the VFX might look finished unlike other recent Marvel releases.
  2. MCU is just turning into a more front-loaded franchise now. It hasn’t helped with we have a new movie every 3 months and that most of them movies are poor. Marvel is sort of fading away.
  3. Not surprised. With the poor China, South Korea and others box office numbers, not surprised this won’t reach 300m. Those big Marvel markets aren’t really showing up like they used too.
  4. Obviously there is a director and writer issues at Marvel but I honestly think the bigger issue is not giving these productions enough freedom and time. They are just churning them out. Instead of feeling any passion in these productions, they just feel like they exist until the next one comes along. Hopefully things change but they will lose a lot of that audience they’ve built.
  5. I’ve just watched it. I'm wondering if Marvel really thought this film was ready to release? Everything looked half finished (3rd act battle, MODOK, mid credit scene) and the actors look like they wanted to go home apart from Majors. The cinematography horrible. Was there a production designer on this? Look like it was all filmed in someone’s garage with a green screen on the wall. It has fun moments and Majors will do well in the future but my god Marvel Studios are dropping the ball. MODOK’s death scene is trying to be funny and I think we’re meant to laugh but it’s just so awkward. 3/10
  6. The reviews have hurt this film with the early look at internationals box office. Exact same as Eternals reviews have killed the buzz, I can see a 400m WW total.
  7. This is bad. Marvel is literally losing one of its biggest markets lol.
  8. It does feel like reviews have killed the buzz, wouldn’t be surprised to see it keep dropping over the weekend. Like Eternals all over again but Eternals wasn’t the big phase 5 event. Not good.
  9. Jesus the MCU is falling off in South Korea. That’s very bad, it was always one of its biggest markets
  10. It’s going rotten! Marvel’s big kick off with phase 5 going down with a whimper. Hopefully this wakes Marvel up a bit and they try to do something different, unlikely though.
  11. If this movie does go rotten and has this bad word of mouth you speak of, it will be interesting to see how Marvel react or if they even care. This is the introduction of their new big bad and the start of the next big story, if people don’t embrace it like they did Thanos and the Infinity Stones then what’s the point?
  12. They just need to be making better movies (and tv shows). They have just seem to have gotten a bit lazy or have creatively just hit a wall. Releasing even more content has just turned something special into a bit of a chore. People responded to billion grossers like Avatar 2, Top Gun: Maverick because of the care and attention put into them. It doesn’t seem Marvel care, as long as it’s serviceable they just release it and hope for the best. That’s how it feels to me anyway.
  13. It’s a bit weird to say films that made over 800m aren’t hits. Multiverse of Madness, Love and Thunder, Wakanda Forever were considered disappointments to some but they are still big hits even if they didn’t breakout/cross a billion.
  14. Very true. Since Endgame, Marvel movies have just forgotten how to be a good, fun time at the movies. Everything is so rushed and half baked, it’s like they just don’t give a shit lol. Real lack of desire.
  15. No yeah I agree with you. Just seems that people are saying the same shit. It’s hard to care really what critics say when to comes to Marvel now. Everyone either enjoys being on the MCU journey at this stage or you don’t.
  16. Just seems after Endgame people are tired. Same old marvel movies issues, setting up for the next big bad, sequels with the same old characters, same old conversations. Just not as exciting as it used to be, which is natural really. Even the criticism is boring. ‘Marvel movies look like shit’, ‘Marvel movies are the death of cinema’. Yeah we know, you say it every time a movie comes out.
  17. Doesn’t it just come down to expectation though? Ant Man and the Wasp only managed 622m WW even though it was between Infinity War/ Endgame and had a Chinese release. Marvel saying this is the next Civil War is stupid as well considering there is not another single Avenger in this film to help give it a boost.
  18. Apart from one or two, these reactions are overwhelmingly positive for a 3 plus hour movie. I wouldn’t worry about reviews here, this movie is gonna be big. Excited!
  19. I don’t see the Marvels making 320 domestic, maybe 220 if it’s good. The first Captain Marvel had the Endgame bump.
  20. With mixed reception, no China, quantity over quality and a post endgame slump, the MCU has probably past its peak. Phase 4 movies being full of mostly sequel and poor new characters (Eternals) doesn’t help either. Also with Disney+ growth, more casual fans probably just wait for the films to pop up on the service.
  21. With around 17.75, are we expecting a weekend between 60m-65m? Depending how it performs over Thanksgiving, it’s more evidence to show that the MCU is becoming a more frontloaded franchise.
