Not surprised. With the poor China, South Korea and others box office numbers, not surprised this won’t reach 300m. Those big Marvel markets aren’t really showing up like they used too.

Obviously there is a director and writer issues at Marvel but I honestly think the bigger issue is not giving these productions enough freedom and time. They are just churning them out. Instead of feeling any passion in these productions, they just feel like they exist until the next one comes along. Hopefully things change but they will lose a lot of that audience they’ve built.

I’ve just watched it. I'm wondering if Marvel really thought this film was ready to release? Everything looked half finished (3rd act battle, MODOK, mid credit scene) and the actors look like they wanted to go home apart from Majors. The cinematography horrible. Was there a production designer on this? Look like it was all filmed in someone’s garage with a green screen on the wall. It has fun moments and Majors will do well in the future but my god Marvel Studios are dropping the ball. MODOK’s death scene is trying to be funny and I think we’re meant to laugh but it’s just so awkward. 3/10

This film is not reaching 500m WW.

This is bad. Marvel is literally losing one of its biggest markets lol.

Jesus the MCU is falling off in South Korea. That’s very bad, it was always one of its biggest markets

If this movie does go rotten and has this bad word of mouth you speak of, it will be interesting to see how Marvel react or if they even care. This is the introduction of their new big bad and the start of the next big story, if people don’t embrace it like they did Thanos and the Infinity Stones then what’s the point?

OMG IS MARVEL DYING?????????????????????

They just need to be making better movies (and tv shows). They have just seem to have gotten a bit lazy or have creatively just hit a wall. Releasing even more content has just turned something special into a bit of a chore. People responded to billion grossers like Avatar 2, Top Gun: Maverick because of the care and attention put into them. It doesn’t seem Marvel care, as long as it’s serviceable they just release it and hope for the best. That’s how it feels to me anyway. -
Just seems after Endgame people are tired. Same old marvel movies issues, setting up for the next big bad, sequels with the same old characters, same old conversations. Just not as exciting as it used to be, which is natural really. Even the criticism is boring. ‘Marvel movies look like shit’, ‘Marvel movies are the death of cinema’. Yeah we know, you say it every time a movie comes out.

Doesn’t it just come down to expectation though? Ant Man and the Wasp only managed 622m WW even though it was between Infinity War/ Endgame and had a Chinese release. Marvel saying this is the next Civil War is stupid as well considering there is not another single Avenger in this film to help give it a boost.

Apart from one or two, these reactions are overwhelmingly positive for a 3 plus hour movie. I wouldn’t worry about reviews here, this movie is gonna be big. Excited!

I don’t see the Marvels making 320 domestic, maybe 220 if it’s good. The first Captain Marvel had the Endgame bump. -

With mixed reception, no China, quantity over quality and a post endgame slump, the MCU has probably past its peak. Phase 4 movies being full of mostly sequel and poor new characters (Eternals) doesn’t help either. Also with Disney+ growth, more casual fans probably just wait for the films to pop up on the service.
