I think to an extent critics are becoming a bit harder on the MCU due to more rapid output. However Marvel has released 6 movies in a year. They need to sort themselves out instead of releasing constant mediocre output. They are losing the spark that was making them special. Between the movie and tv shows, they have introduced about 20+ new characters into the MCU and even with more content, we can’t really get to care about any of these characters because there is too many of them.

Honestly whatever way you interpret it, there is a group of critics who just have no time for the MCU anymore and just say any old shit. Not that I disagree with that, I think Marvel fatigue is becoming a thing. The overload of mediocre content since Endgame is real. It’s just I think discourse of the MCU has become more toxic in recent times. I think Marvel just needs to take a break but instead it’s doubling down.

https://variety.com/2022/film/news/ezra-miller-the-flash-1235277665/amp/ Flash has been ‘extraordinarily well received in test screenings.’ WB consider it one of DC ‘strongest theatrical efforts.’ Aside from all the drama, looks like all the test screening stuff is true. This film could do really well.

Agree with this. Having to include Wanda and her storyline just took away from making a fun Doctor Strange movie. It’s probably the reason Scott Derrickson left. Waldron even said that Wanda wasn’t the villain of the movie until he and Raimi we’re brought on. -

That Doctor Strange Deadline piece was a journey. Talking about his cousins reaction to the film, who the fuck cares? lol However he is right about Marvel just doing too much at the minute and forgetting about the quality. The buzz for each project (tv and movies) now is dwindling apart from Thor and Black Panther. -

The advertising for this movie did sort of let it down imo. Even though I don’t think the movie was that great, the advertising made it feel more epic and fun than it actually was. -
I just listened to a few interviews with Michael Waldron and the way he talks about this movie, I feel like he made every boring decision possible. He talked about how he didn’t want to travel the multiverse too much because it would be like a cartoon. What? He said he wanted Earth 838 to feel like a real place yet all we got was New York with pizza balls, a memory Lane machine, all the cool characters were killed and red traffic lights. How the multiverse is used in Into the Spider Verse feels more epic than the way it was used in this movie.

No yeah I agree, it had a lot of strong build up and expectations. It seems the expectations ultimately killed it and people are disappointed with the movie. One big complaint for this movie I feel is overlooked is that this movie isn’t fun at all. In my theatre, I think the crowd laugh once or twice. This movie is not a crowd pleaser imo. -

I agree to an extent with people making excuses but again the movie seems to be suffering most from poor WOM. As we have seen before you can have popular characters in a movie but if the movie itself isn’t great, their popularity can only carry the movie so much. -

This film opened over a 100 million more than the last Doctor Strange. Now the difference in the 2nd weekend gross will only be around 18 million. MCU movies are becoming front-loaded. 400m is certainly dead. -

I don’t disagree though that Marvel is disappointing. They are releasing just too many projects and seem more worried about content than actually delivering quality products. Obviously Covid had a big effect but a lot of other studios have had the same issues. I think the reason the Batman was well received was because it felt like a passion project and it’s own thing. The MCU now just feels like they are in auto pilot atm. -

Don’t think so. Each project has different expectations. The expectations for Strange were out of control. With Thor, I think people just want more Ragnarok fun. -

One thing I’m tired of is the The Batman comparisons. Batman was a better received film overall of course it was going to have better legs. Doctor Strange is a disappointment, what were we expecting here? -

Yes. MCU movies will be more frontloaded. However I think with this movie there was a lot of hype after NWH and it didn’t deliver for people. It won’t even get half of NWH final domestic box office, not great. However I don’t think Thor and Wakanda Forever have this type of hype on them really. They should perform better if they are well received. -

I’m going to say just under 60. Maybe like 59.50m? Seems that WOM is kicking in. Very poor Friday number. -

Black Panther is one of the best MCU films. An Oscar nominated movie. So I will ignore what you said. This is my last reply to you. Clearly just a DC troll who should be ignored.
