  1. Warner Bros seems to be the favourite but I assume the Broccolis will have the final say
  2. Compare them to Naomi Harris in the Xperia Z5 ad, she looks like she had fun making it. He can't complain as he likely got paid well for it, either in cash or free beer.
  3. HT2 has really benefitted from being the only animated film out at the moment, It'll likely double what the first film in total takings since The Good Dinosaur isn't out until late November. This weekend is unsurprisingly poor with Paranormal Activity with a mid week release and The Last Witch Hunter. I imagine HT2 will be number one again.
  4. Jurassic World had a bigger three day weekend than Avengers but a lower Thursday. Potter still has the three day OW record but think Star Wars could come close
  5. That's at the weekend, I have my doubts if there is a huge audience for showings at 3-4am on a weekday especially in places where night transport is nonexistent.
  6. Out of interest, is John Sculley portayed as the 'bad guy'? because I've read in interviews that he regretted the falling out between himself and Jobs and I think he was only doing what was best for the company and the shareholders.
  7. Sony only gets 25% of the profits despite funding the majority of the film. I read that Craig got a monetary bonus for Skyfall but no backend as the Broccolis don't offer it, don't know if that is the case with Spectre.
  8. I wouldn't worry about Spielberg, he has had bigger flops like Munich and 1941, I'm sure The BFG and Ready Player One will more than make up for Bridge of Spies not doing so hot.
  9. Spectre will likely have big licensing deals for TV rights, VOD and home entertainment sales so it'll still be profitable even if it doesn't crack $1bn. Given the amount of products that are using Bond in their advertisements like Heineken, Sony, Omega etc it's still a huge brand.
  10. Legendary's successful films this year with Universal were either already in development and/or existing properties. Outside of 42, they've not done well with films developed inhouse. It'll be interesting if Warcraft and The Great Wall do well but i wouldn't hold my breath
  11. Or a film where he plays a hitman who forces a taxi driver to drive him to the places of his targets like Tom Cruise in Collateral
  12. Road to Perdition was a departure for Hanks and quite dark. Going off-topic, I'm surprised no one has ever thought of pairing Cruise and Hanks in a film, I guess both cost too much individually to get a film for both to star in
  13. Has Shia burnt too many bridges in Hollywood to have a comeback? I think he's a good actor and many people he's worked it like Brad Pitt have praised him but he really needs to sort himself out.
  14. Legendary funded the entire film with Universal distributing and marketing so Universal isn't really losing out if it flops
  15. I assume money isn't really a factor for either since the backend will likely make up for any shortfall from a reduced frontend.
  16. Apparently Bridge of Spies cost $40m to make which seems unlikely considering Lincoln cost $65m unless Hanks and Spielberg cut their usual fees. Even Captain Phillips cost $55m.
  17. IMAX had have 0530 showings but I don't know if anyone would watch it in the middle of the night on a work night, Friday and Saturday I understand but not a Monday
  18. I don't think Hamlet will be counted as it'll be only shown on Thursday live although if the encores are on the weekend then maybe it might chart. Rocky Horror which did £650,000 for its live broadcast wasn't counted in the weekend chart because it was broadcast on a Thursday. Billy Elliot Live IIRC charted because it broadcast on a Sunday.
  19. Does anyone really want to go back to when cinemas were fleapits? I wish Tarantino would at least look at how digital has developed rather than be a grouchy old man about it.
  20. This weekend will be interesting as Suffragette has a seven day opening, HT2 had two weekends of previews and Pan had previews as well so it's tough to say which will be number 1, my guess is HT2 but perhaps The Martian could pull an upset and claim the top spot again
  21. Conversion can work if it's planned from the start, Alice in Wonderland was a conversion but that was planned and shot with 3D in mind and so looks much better than Clash of the Titans which was a 2D film which was converted in a short amount of time and thus looks awful, Apparently Zemeckis was going to make The Walk as a motion capture film when ImageMovers Digital was still around which would have been a bad idea.
  22. Disney has access to a huge back catalogue of titles as well which they draw from, Cinderella was based mostly on their version of Cinderella. Snow White was somewhat successful for Universal but that's pretty much it. The only fairytale/fantasy film I could see being a huge hit would be the film version of Wicked but that's based on an already successful existing stage musical.
