  1. I suspect it's the latter, The Martian needed a big budget whereas The Walk aside from the walk itself is small scale so didn't require a huge budget. I imagine if there is a big budget project that Zemeckis is interested in doing, I'm sure he'd do it but does seem to concentrating on mid budget films at the moment.
  2. His last non mocap film which was big budget was Cast Away which was $90m but that was hugely successful, What Lies Beneath cost $100m which for a thriller is excessive but did have big names and was successful too. I think the fact the mocap films didn't do that well probably have meant that execs are cautious of giving him huge budgets.
  3. London Cambridge Brighton Glasgow Edinburgh Belfast New York Toronto San Fransisco Sydney Melbourne Kuala Lumpar
  4. HT2 has pretty much no similar competition unless Goosebumps breaks out. OS it has a much easier time as it's only Pan and in limited markets Goosebumps it had to face, the first film faced two animated films OS with Madagascar 3 and Frankenweenie, it will see a big increase OS. It might end up being SPA's highest grossing film in the US, it'll be tough to beat The Smurfs OS total
  5. That's alright for Macbeth, it was never going to be a crowd puller. Wonder how The Intern did? I'm guessing that'll be number 2 or 3
  6. The Walk does seem like a return to form for Zemeckis. I wonder if studios are unwilling to give him huge budgets anymore or if he doesn't want to do big budget films anymore whereas Ridley Scott still get $100m+ budgets
  7. I assume WB was able to get permission from GOSH otherwise the film wouldn't be made. Tarzan isn't public domain either as the Edgar Burroughs Rice Estate owns the trademark.
  8. I cannot see Minions or HT2 being nominated at all especially when there are much better movies to choose from. As for The Martian, I think technical awards are likely but FOX already has Joy, Bridge of Spies and The Revenant as their awards showcase but then again given that moved up The Martian showed they were confident that thought it was going to be a hit so maybe they'll give it a push for BP and maybe best actor for Matt Damon
  9. The Martian wasn't likely to get IMAX even on its original release date due to Bond plus wasn't The Walk planned for IMAX even before The Martian moved to October?
  10. Working Title has made sequels to Mr Bean, Nanny McPhee and Johnny English in the past so it's no surprise Bridget Jones is getting another film.
  11. I think they decided against adapting the third book and gone for an original story. I wonder since Hugh Grant isn't returning if
  12. Not sure if it'll do well, it's been too long since the Edge of Reason. I assume it'll do well in the UK but the September release date in the US does make me think Universal aren't expecting to do big numbers in the US
  13. Anyone know how well The Martian has done in previews?
  14. All I can is, I think the fact it's light hearted at times does make it more enjoyable.
  15. SPA has churned out 3 DTV sequels to Open Season so I wouldn't put it pass them doing more HT films. A 2D animated TV series would work, the credits of the first film had 2D animation designed by Genndy and they did a 2D short as well.
  16. Will the TV series be on Netflix or perhaps a kids cable channel like Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon.
  17. It's currently scheduling against WB/WAG's Storks but I could see either moving forward a week or back a week.
  18. Sony has been really successful with late September with SPA and also live action with The Equalizer last year. If Magnificent Seven manages to crack $30m+ it'll be another live action winner for Sony
  19. It'll be profitable for WB since it only cost $35m and it'll easily do over $100m WW although I imagine Hathaway and DeNiro have back end deals.
  20. I reckon it's the John Wick directors for Fast 8.
  21. Sony have been doing it since Open Season in 2006, other studios like Warner Bros and Focus have slotted family films as well, WB has Storks in that slot against Sony's Magnificent Seven next year although I could see either studio moving their film back a week. I think Sony will alternate SPA films with action films like The Equalizer 2 and MS, late September works for them
  22. A movie based on a huge brand is going to be released in a more lucrative month than September. Sony found a niche with SPA films and R rated films like The Equalizer but those films have under $100m budget. there's a reason why blockbusters are released in the summer and holidays.
  23. I think anything over $150m budget is not going to be released in September or October unless it's being dumped.
