Thanks @Barnack. I realized soon after it was kind of a silly question, as tracking to us on this forum is not the same as industry tracking. I guess what I meant to say was we wouldn't have been able to do our own tracking, at least not without reserved seating and Pulse etc.

Yeah that's a little better. Hoping for that kind of a weekend for TLK.

I remember $6.25 for the longest time in the early 2000's. Hard to remember a time with no PLF's or reserved seating. How were movies tracked then??
-
That makes sense!

Your parents sound like they were the types to not shield you from everything remotely adult as a kid. That's good. I think kids who are the most shielded (ie. strict on what movies they're allowed to watch. hand sanitizer overload etc.) they're the most unprepared for adulthood. I truly think it's one of the reasons I can be a jaded person about the world. I believe my sister and I were fed a lot of lies about the world outside our fairly normal, picture perfect upbringing and we've both had our issues throughout our twenties navigating adult life.

Well I'm pretty conservative and I don't see anything about the original Spider-Man that would make it unsuitable for viewers just under 12 (as in ages 9-11 or something). Maybe younger than that there are concerns but overall it's pretty harmless with a few distressing scenes ("Finish it!" is was freaky and Spider-Man getting the crap kicked out of him by the Goblin at the end was actually pretty brutal).
-
Bah! Hope a lot of parents saw through that.
-
Just looked it up. Huh. It was 18A in BC. Guess my mom had a point. Still, it felt very uncool at the time haha.
-
Yes it was. I was in BC. I don't recall the rating. Was it really rated R?? Maybe I'm mis-remembering how scary the movie actually was.

These 30-something forecasts for TLK make me depressed. 30-something is not what I first imagined for its 3rd weekend. Again, I know weekends are slightly depressed in the summer but come on. This is dropping like a superhero movie. Nobody can deny that. The only difference is it does in fact have the benefit of inflated weekdays, but even with that I still thought its weekends would be a little bigger. I mean, even The Dark Knight Rises had a $35.7M 3rd weekend. I thought being a 4-quad family film would be the difference. Guess not. Not saying I'm surprised. though, given reception. Just disappointed. Flame away.

Ugh, my parents were TOO strict with me when it came to movies though. No joke, when I was 12 me and a friend wanted to go see Ghost Ship. My mom went to drop us off and when she saw the rating she turned us around and we went back home. My friend was looking at me like "Dude, what the fuck?". Humiliation.

Thanks @SLAM!! You're one of the best on here about starting threads about new/small/obscure films on the schedule. I really liked Her. Maybe I'm a weirdo but I dug the concept, of how a person's emotions could truly be manipulated by an AI. If an AI with a beautiful voice is saying all the right things and making you feel good, I could see how one could literally fall for it. I'm interested in this one.

No kidding huh. As I said, what possesses someone to take their young kid to Midsommar???

I realize Johnson to Cena is definitely a downgrade, but this movie seems like it would be a little more down Cena's alley doesn't it? I'll admit I'm intrigued and I'll give him a chance before judging, but will be fully prepared to roast him if he's awful in it. I just hope his character feels like a genuine addition in F9, rather than a panic move by Universal to replace Johnson.
