  1. Yeah it's too bad. It's always awkward when a studio doesn't realize the quality and potential of its own movie.
  2. I hear ya there. That's the irony: trade deadlines can be damn disappointing too. I don't know if anyone else follows hockey here but James Duthie has hosted the trade deadline show on TSN for years now and there's a running joke at this point about how he pleads with GM's to save trades for the deadline because he can't bare to host another empty show. I remember it used to be it was worth getting up at 6 in the morning for the deadline because fairly significant trades would be going down right away. Not anymore. Pretty much nothing happens for hours to start and then the ones that begin to trickle in are minor trades. It's funny watching panels do a big discussion and analysis on these small moves to try to kill time haha!
  3. I think this could do a 9-10x multi (am I going way too high?) and I'd like to see it do at least $60M on OW. That means it would need $6.67M in previews. Based on tracking that might be very optimistic. Looks like I should prepare to be disappointed. Too bad, because I thought for the longest time this film had the potential to be the 3rd biggest opener in August after Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy.
  4. Anyway, different strokes. Also, I'm convinced the scene was a daydream, not a memory. Am I totally off??
  5. Both Marvel and F&F are monster overseas franchises. I'm really, really curious to see how H&S does overseas.
  6. Yeah, that's still a brutal multi considering, like you said, the much lower numbers. Whatever fans the franchise has, they rush to the theatre for it on opening weekend and then it pretty much dies.
  7. Bingo. Thank you for summing up all this. I meant to reply to Barnack with some of the things you mentioned but I forgot to get around to it. And "famous for being famous" is exactly the phrase I was going to use. That's how most people think of them and that's why I called them the most useless of all the rich people in the world. They really offer nothing of substance, which is okay - not everyone is required to be a saint - if you're not absolute media attention whores.
  8. Sure, but it's not like Lee and Tate's characters were smeared and totally dragged through the mud? If there's context I'm missing here I'd be glad to hear it. Most people aren't going to take it seriously at all so what's the problem? A biopic, where you're straddling the line between educating the audience but also make a movie for entertainment, is different. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, as many people have said, is basically a fairy tale.
  9. Thanks for the review! I'm pumped! Regarding the bold, where are you from again?
  10. So I saw that three of the four biggest cities have the best three teams in all of major league baseball: New York City (Yankees), Los Angeles (Dodgers) and Houston (Astros). The league and the networks must be in heaven!
  11. Interesting that BOP is still predicting $70M despite dismal tracking. I guess they think walkups will be fantastic.
  12. Yeah I'm pleasantly surprised by the reviews so far? Or am I? I guess it doesn't matter because ever since the first trailer I always thought this movie looked like dumb fun at the movies. Seeing it this weekend!
  13. Why can't people accept that many parts of Tarantino movies are tongue-in-cheek, including the Bruce Lee scene? It's a Tarantino movie! Why are we suddenly concerned about going by the book and painting a character exactly how their real self was. Again, it's a QT movie, not a biopic. People should repeat this to themselves over and over again before their daily outrage routines. As for Bruce Lee's daughter or Sharon Tate's sister, same goes for them. Sure I can see why they'd be miffed - nobody wants to see their own family members how they weren't - but they have to know they can't take a QT movie too seriously in that regard. I'm sure they'll live (but they also know their displeasure will generate headlines and drama so there's that).
  14. Count me in the "Chastain should have been recognized for Molly's Game" club. She was sexy as hell in that, I might add. Dear God....
  15. Isn't the trade deadline awesome Porthos?? (Of course I don't follow the baseball one, just hockey, but I imagine the trade deadline for every major sport is just as awesome!)
  16. LMAO! But seriously, who is taking their kid to Midsommar anyway? Like, really people?
  17. I agree. I like that time period for TCU movies.
  18. I don't know if it's a culture thing Barnack but no, not many people respect the Kardashians, at least here in North America. Thank God they're not on pretty much every magazine cover and all over the news - they've been replaced by President Trump in that regard - anymore.
  19. Not me really. My point was that it wasn't the best way to go about being a champion of the common folk. The Kardashians are an example of the rich snobs he was talking about and the thing is, they're probably the most useless rich people on the planet!
  20. I guess I mean outside of rapists, murderers, pedos, etc. They represent the worst kind of people who haven't necessarily done horrible things. Does that make sense? They're especially a horrible example for girls.
