  1. Gotta say I'm thankful for the tracking thread otherwise I would have been disappointed with that preview number. But truth is we are kinda in uncharted territory with Frozen 2 due to the time of year it's releasing.
  2. Man and then Shrek the Third squandered all that goodwill from Shrek 2 ( I actually enjoyed the 4th one quite a bit).
  3. I think the films will always have trouble satisfying the fanbase as well as fulfilling Disney's need for them to appeal to the broader GA. The shows and games can focus more on the hardcore fanbase without worrying too much about stuff like Box Office.
  4. Onto Big Hero 6 Kinda like Ralph Breaks the Internet it has a great core of a movie with Hiro and Baymax's relationship while sure being a play on the whole "robot and kid" trope is done in a fresh enough way (thanks to Baymax's great characterisation) to make it compelling to watch. I think the main problem is that the main plot and villain is so generic and uninteresting that it makes a seemingly very cool concept (science nerds using their knowledge and skills to create inventive stuff) be a bit standard to your normal superhero film. Still though it looks certainly fantastic (first time they use the rendering system Hyperion) and the ending when Baymax says goodbye is genuinely heartbreaking. Probably the worst use of the twist villain in terms of how obvious it was.
  5. Snyder squandered the chance to make easy $1 Billion films for DC with BvS and JL but overall DC is very healthy and diverse. Joker and Aquaman are about as far apart as superhero films cam be go out both are from DC and both grossed $1 Billion. But yeah there's a reason we ain't getting JL 2 anytime soon.
  6. Yeah it's going for more a South East Asian vibe than anything. Probably my most anticipated movie of next year. I don't think this is a musical though.
  7. My first instinct was like "eh really" but damn totally forgot Joker is going to be $700M+ OS so yeah i'd say yeah won't be a huge shock. Same with going under FFH and Captain Marvel's OS totals.
  8. Just saying TROS will only satisfy me if a Mandalorain trained Baby Yoda saves the day
  9. Not one of those who believe that the Snyder Cut would have magically saved Snyder's DCEU or done much better at the BO than JL but I would want it to be released since it was the version the actors signed up for and what was intended. At least we would get what was originally supposed to be (albeit I understand much changed before filming anyways due to BvS's underperformance).
  10. Deservedly so such a fantastic film that has great drama but also the actual car action scenes are thrilling and well made.
  11. Maybe reading too much into this but the fact Disney definitely dated July 2023 wonder if it means anything to Spider-Man post-2021. Anyhow not that surprsing 4 MCU Films is becoming the norm with the amount of ongoing franchises they have atm and at least once a year they're debuting a new one. Feel bad for those that love cinema though
  12. Well it's interesting since many of the reviews are coming from people who really loved the first one. I liked Frozen quite a bit but I do think there have been better WDAS films this era so maybe might be different for those who don't hold the original as quite high.
  13. On to Wreck It Ralph which is definitely one of the best Disney movies this era. For starters I love the world they created for the film and the rules for how the video game characters work are easy to understand. Ralph is a great protagonist and I love his arc the and overall message of the film of being content with who you are as long as you find people around you who care and love you. Ralph and Vanellope's relationship is great in this one as they relate to each other as both outsiders. The side characters such as Fix It Felix Jr and Sargeant Calhoun are interesting too and King Candy is a very good villain and a "twist villain" that works as it contextualises how our villain relates to the themes of the film and also what our hero is going through. Subsequent Disney "twist villains" would not work nearly as well. I'm going to forever be upset Brave won the Oscar over this one Ralph Breaks the Internet is a good sequel that is more messy than its predecessor. The core of the film is great with again progressing Ralph as a character and what the meaning of friendship is. I like how there's no real villain in this film with the character choices that Ralph makes having actual consequences. While I don't find it as good as the original I do appreciate that the film isn't just another episode of these characters lives but actually tries to progress the story and characters in a meaningful way which isn't something I can't say about many sequels (such as many of the Pixar sequels this era unfortunately). I think the film does bend the rules a bit in relation to how the world was set up in the first one and the middle section with Ralph and Vanellope separated while entertaining got a bit tedious towards the end. 3rd Act where the major themes of the film come to the forefront is the best part of the film.
  14. Couldn't resist holding off until next week unfortunately but I really dug this episode. The short length I enjoyed because of Mandalorian's lack of dialogue so unless you beef up the action no point stretching out the runtime for that long. The best thing about the show is that it's definitely doing the "show don't tell" that A New Hope was great at doing. You very much understand how the bounty hunters work or what is part of the Mandalorian's motivation with very little exposition. I really does feel like a continuation of the OT world without it feeling too fanservicey or gimmicky. Also IG-11 c'mon Taika can do no wrong
  15. I just think it has so much potential as an epic space adventure that more akin to the serious side like Star Wars than say GOTG or Ragnarok. Coupled with it supposedly tying in the origins of the MCU and a killer cast what's not to get excited about?
  16. Went on to watch Winnie the Pooh. Man so sad this film was pretty much left to die by Disney by releasing it along with Deathly Hallows Part 2. A perfect encapsulation why Winnie the Pooh has endured as a Disney franchise since the 1960s and as someone who loved the A.A Milne books too it was lovely to see some of those stories adapted (albiet loosely) in this film. An easy watch for kids yet like great animated films is appealing to everyone even if there's nothing much going on underneath the surface. The last 2D Animated Film sadly by Disney Animation. Hoping that somehow changes in the future.
  17. 1. Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker 2. Frozen II 3. Eternals 4. Soul 5. The Irishman 6. Knives Out 7. Black Widow 8. Little Woman 9. Onward 10. Wonder Woman 1984
  18. After rewatching Tangled I might check this show out since I really loved the movie even more after rewatch
  19. I just rewatched Tangled and it holds up really well. The lantern scene with "I See The Light" is still gorgeous and the animation in general is fantastic to look at still since I think it's when Disney started to crack how to take the 2D sensibilities into CGI.
  20. Since this is topping off this decade of WDAS films I might do a rewatch of all of them starting with Tangled. Great decade for them though considering the trouble the studio was in back in the early 2000s. Think they overall beat Pixar for quality this decade.
  21. And the marketing for Frozen 2 (at least the trailers) has been pretty clear to appeal to all demos too with playing up the action and adventure aspects.
