  1. Since behind a pay wall I'll copy the whole thing https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/04/opinion/martin-scorsese-marvel.html
  2. Let's not give Deadline any ideas for another "Toy Story 4 Eyes $200M OW" type article. But in all serious terrific signs for Frozen 2. Marketing has been very much on point so far.
  3. Hopefully they have four MCU films planned in 2022. Wouldn't want to wait until 2023 for Captain Marvel 2 or GOTG Vol 3.
  4. I think exchange rates were much more favourable in late 2013 and early 2014 than now right? That bring said it's still one of the most anticipated animated films of all time so will go with $800M OS for now
  5. I was thinking after SLOP 2 that Minions 2 might be in danger of having a massive decease from the first but seeing how empty July and August is of major family fare (other than Jungle Cruise) $1 Billion seems likely IMO (Despicable Me 3 numbers wouldn't shock me).
  6. I'll say I think this is one of the few times I was happy I was spoiled this scene (though tbf don't think it was a hard guess) cause I reckon I would have been too upset to watch the rest of the film. I understand why they killed John Connor on a creative level but I don't think the film quite justified making that decision. At the end of the day the story is still about a designated leader who must be saved so she can lead mankind to a better future. And the whole Skynet is now Legion is a bit lazy with nothing really to differentiate Legion from Skynet.
  7. My favourite thing was when someone in the Youtube comments of one of the Dark Fate trailers quoted the "Men like you speech" Sarah makes in T2 and so many replies underneath were like "Agreed look how SJW this series has become" not knowing the person was quoting T2 in the first place to make a point lol
  8. Terminator is actually pioneering the first "Choose your own adventure" type series as said viewer will have many choices to choose where the story goes after T2.
  9. Weren't they only producers in the first one anyway? Definitely has room to grow but I wouldn't expect outrageous numbers yet. Hopefully around the $500M range is good.
  10. Would have preferred a change in director but I enjoyed the first one so not the worst news. Hopefully will get some boost after Endgame but I'm expecting around the $700M range.
  11. Definitely should have scaled back the budget. Would have made a better film actually
  12. This is definitely trying to do what TFA did for Star Wars and to some extent it does succeed (although I do find it funny James Cameron was critical of TFA for being a retread when Dark Fate is the same thing). The new characters are for the most part very good and Linda Hamilton needs to be in more movies cause she's awesome in this. Ultimately though I don't think the film fully justified going back to this story so won't be too disappointed if we didn't get any more sequels.
  13. DC pivoting Green Lantern to tv makes sense considering they've been so cautious with the property since the 2011 film. Agreed it's a shame but along with Superman moving to TV (albiet might not have anything to do with the fact they aren't doing anything with Superman in the DCEU atm) and Disney pivoting Star Wars to TV too it's gonna be alot more common in the future.
  14. Like I said before even if the show wasn't good at least it got me to reread the comic again. Fortunately the show is superb so far.
  15. Considering the purpose of the argument is that a "Cameron produced" film means little unless he's director as well yes they don't count
  16. Loving the Watchmen show so far especially whenever Jeremy Irons is onscreen. Also got me to reread the comic again
  17. Joker's performance again suggests audiences are willing to give anything a chance as long as it's attached to some known IP. I really hope it gives studios more confidence to do wild and different things with their current franchises and not always go for the big blockbuster style film when it's shown time and time again how easy it is to fail with that. Also hopefully dispels any notion that only certain type of films work well OS. Not gonna really go into the whole Endgame vs Joker argument just ask yourself would you be more surprised if someone said Endgame would beat Avatar vs Joker making $1 Billion. Which ever one is the answer is the one that's more impressive to you.
  18. I do agree that with the big market share Marvel and DC have that it's hard for new franchises to start. But not sure we need to be lamenting at that with regards to Terminator 6. Something like Alita sure I understand.
  19. It would feel odd if the biggest box office story of the year wasn't about a new film becoming the biggest film of all time. The fact that the Joker is even in the conversation speaks volumes about its performance.
