IMO not enough people are praising Josh Cooley specifically. For a first time director (and yes generally first time directors on Pixar will receive more internal help than other first timers) this is very good looking film and all the action scenes are staged really well. Also have to remember the amount of production troubles this film had (seems par for the course with a Toy Story film) with regards to Lasseter intially going to direct it with Rashida Jones leaving and having to push the film back it's a semi miracle it turned out to be this good. Also good to see someone else other than the OG Pixar directors (which I include Bird and Unkrich in) deliver since that's partly why I think Pixar haven't been nearly as good as they were in the early 2000s since the next generation of directors haven't been as good.

https://animationinsider1.blogspot.com/2019/06/bonus-zootopia-sequel-details-and-more.html?m=1 A sequel to the 2016 hit film Zootopia has been in development since early this year, I'm hearing the sequel will take place after the events of the first film and will focus on a new threat in the city of Zootopia. The movie will have Byron Howard as the sole director and will have new writers. The film is in it's very early stages of development with only seven drafts completed. Disney hopes to have the movie ready for a November 2022 release. -

Aladdin sequel would definitely be something Disney is discussing now. I haven't seen any of the DTV Aladdin sequels are they any good? -
Toy Story 4 (2019)
Darth Lehnsherr replied to baumer's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
I think for the ending to work on the level of Toy Story 3 they really needed more development with Buzz and the gang (the whole "inner voice" gag with Buzz was done for jokes only). But I didn't see it as Woody running off just cause of self esteem issues but finding a new purpose in his life because he didn't feel satisfied or helpful. It's not about him not being the favourite toy anymore it's that his whole life has been about this one purpose but this is the first time he's actually stopped to think about whether that's the only thing he wants and whether he's actually actively fulfilling that purpose or not. I also think Buzz would rather Woody be happy and content with his life than try to fake being ok with where he is in his life. Also let's be honest the only way they were gonna even get close to the impact of Andy leaving Woody was separating Woody and Buzz thus closing out the two major threads of the entire series (certainly the first movie at least). -
Damn seems like even Toy Story 4 couldn't escape the this summer's poor box office. Though again considering how other sequels this summer have outright bombed or vastly under-performed not sure this one particularly belongs in that category. Being the 4th (and last?) also helps expectations seeing as I don't think Disney was expecting this to set up future films or anything unlike say SLOP 2. Also rather odd to be saying this film is proof that unwanted sequels are being rejected when this whole summer has been littered with them.

I'll be a tad disappointed with "only" $120M only cause it'll make $500M DOM final total difficult. But yeah Disney definitely will take this massive win with all the other tentpole failures this summer. It's gonna outgross Shrek the Third by around $100M anyways so not sure why everyone is dredging up the fact it may make less than that film on OW.

It's funny cause the Cameron stans were very happy with the idea of Avatar getting a rerelease when Avatar 2 comes out when it looked like Endgame was going to beat Avatar but now aren't happy that Endgame is getting an expansion of its screenings while still in theatres. If people don't think it's worth going again for the extra stuff at the end then they won't go.
