  1. I blame Simon Kinberg much more than Bryan Singer. Dude has written five superhero films and only one of them has been well received.
  2. Agreed just seemed he repurposed his Interstellar score with a bit of Man of Steel and Dunkirk thrown in there. Hope his WW84 score isn't as repititve as this one was. But I guess the internet especially fanboys eat everything up that sounds "Zimmer like"
  3. Pre-release buzz is what was meant. WoM for this film has been fantastic and I suspect it may have even surprised Disney.
  4. So many things wrong with the movie but the ending after Jean dies is atrocious. We don't bother to see the effect her death had on the characters other than calling the school "Jean Grey" and everything is tied up in an unearned neat bow. Seems like Raven's death had a way bigger impact than the actual titular character.
  5. Can't say I'm totally surprised at that CinemaScore for Dark Phoenix after seeing the film. Even though there are worse superhero films (heck it ain't even the worst X-Men film) it kinda ticks none of the boxes for a crowd pleasing superhero film.
  6. Wow Aladdin really is becoming the go to movie this summer who would have thought? Bad numbers all around but c'mon no one is seriously arguing that SLOP 2 is a flop or anything but the trend from the first one is a cause of concern. They don't want to become like DreamWorks who peaked with the Shrek franchise but couldn't really find anything else to even come close. Eh Dark Phoenix what a sad (but let's be honest an expected) way for the X-Men to go out.
  7. Some of these Secret Life of Pets 2 predictions...... A new Despicable Me franchise for Illumination this is not I think.
  8. I still don't put that much stock into RT Audience Score but yeah that's not a good sign. Does correlate with the really bad Maoyan score Dark Phoenix currently has in China.
  9. Wow that's horrifically bad since China was the one market still on board for this franchise and Fox's reasoning for moving Dark Phoenix to June supposedly was cause of China. Though I think @Gavin Feng disputed that at the time.
  10. Maybe WB feels it's not worth the effort. Certainly didn't help FB 2, Shazam or Godzilla nor did it help right the anticipation for JL. But still will feel very weird to for WB to just not be there.
  11. I think D23 will be more about the Disney+ shows. Plus would easily outshine any other stuff they would have going on at D23 while they wouldn't care if Marvel outshine the social studios at SDCC. Anyways it's a shame no panel for WB since would have liked it have actually been a good time anyway to drop a Birds of Prey trailer or a Godzilla v Kong trailer but it is what it is.
  12. Eh with Marvel supposedly dropping their slate at SDCC makes sense for WB/DC to not bother. Damn that's one good poster though.
  13. With it not breaking out in China under $300M OS is very possible
  14. I mean to give them credit people really enjoy those movies. They know how to be crowd pleasing that is also very wide appealing. They definitely could be way better IMO but atm they have no incentive to be.
  15. SLOP seems a bit like Lego Movie where the novelty was cute the first time but people have no desire for it to be revisited again. Sing 2 might be in a bit of trouble (relatively speaking as all these films will be profitable) but Minions 2 should be fine with the Despicable Me franchise being of the biggest OS.
  16. Yeah even if this grosses half of the first one it'll still be profitable thanks to Illumination's control on their budgets.
  17. Yes they definitely pushed that angle in the marketing but clearly there was also an actual big appetite for that type of movie too or it wouldn't have worked. If he or she thinks Black Panther got to $1.3B+ cause it was some social obligation for people to watch it then I completely disagree (same with Captain Marvel).
