    Yes it's a shocker that an MCU film would get more hype and viewage than a mid budget comedy sequel. Can you name any other films with a $200M budget that has a primarily black cast? Well of course you do since it's criticising Disney. Do you feel the same about WB who promoted WW as a huge female event despite making 6 Superman and 7 Batman films before making one Wonder Woman film?

    That's cause the GA doesn't see the DCEU as one big franchise but a set of different franchises that happen to be based off DC characters. This will remain the same until they do proper crossovers which they have no plans to do in the foreseeable future. Not like the MCU where each franchise links to the larger Avengers brand.

    Why would the GA be more interested in Godzilla v Kong when they already have this?

    Yeah not a bomb thankfully well even if it was Godzilla vs Kong is already on its way regardless.

    It doesn't work like that. It will definitely not have 2.5x legs in China for example.

    Ready Player One had superb legs in China to $218M. KOTM is making $150M max in China and that's being generous. I'm guessing $450M WW finish which is pretty disappointing no way to spin it.

    Unless this is a TFA situation where it undoes Toy Story 3's ending I'm ok with Toy Story 4 existing. Just treat it like one of the Toy Story specials they've done over the years if it sucks.

    This movie is far more entertaining if you make up dialogue in your head what the monsters are saying to each other. Dunno if it was intentional or not but was way more emotionally moved by Mothra's death than any of the human drama barring Ken Watanabe's death.

    Well true but that was during one of the lowest times for Disney Animation. Generally I guess it's just hard with the amount of time and effort Pixar and Disney put into their films to release more than one a year. Pumping multiple films a year is what led to DreamWorks' dminishing returns anyways.

    While I don't think it's a horrendous situation I do think it's interesting that Disney is having Pixar releasing multiple films again next year when it hasn't worked out the first two times they've tried. Meanwhile the one time WDAS did in 2016 both Zootopia and Moana were successes.

    You know it would be the BvS and Cap 3 situation right? Marvel would never budge from their April/May release.

    Not all franchises are meant to last 10 years. Maybe MonsterVerse wasn't destined to be a long running thing. For people who know way more than me what other monsters could theyvhave introduced that could carry their own film the way Godzilla and King Kong do?

    This place has honestly been really great during my time post uni and job hunt. Unfortunately will probably be on here far less now due to the new job.

    Strawman argument. Check @LOGAN'sLuckyRun's club for KOTM's OW nearly everyone there had it opening above $60M.

    Wonder what's the worse Dark Phoenix could potentially do atm. Might not match its tracking of $50M.

    Be a pretty good hold for Aladdin. Not so much for Endgame though. And not sure that Pika Pika would have all done that much better if got KOTM's release date. Still has to deal with Aladdin which is targeting the exact same demographic.

    Well we always knew that with the release of Pika Pika, John Wick 3, Aladdin and Godzilla that one of them was gonna underperform. Didn't expect it to be Godzilla tbh. I rewatched Godzilla 2014 a couple of days ago and honestly I still enjoy that film quite a bit. But yeah clearly that film's negative WoM is lingering in the back of some people's mind to avoid KOTM.
