  1. The Shape of Water and Get Out were my two picks for Best Picture. I just couldn't choose between them, due to them being in different genres, yet excelling for the exact same reason: a clear, concise vision from an amazing director. I'm just so happy that it wasn't Three Billboards! Overall, I think the right people won. VERY VERY excited about Coco, Allison Janney, Jordan Peele, and Guillermo Del Toro's wins. I also liked all the sass and hard talk from the ladies about inclusive feminism; but, under I see results, I'm just going to thank them for their lip service and keep hoping this movement isn't a trend or a hashtag, but real change that's here to stay.
  2. Sally Hawkins and Margot Robbie got ROBBED. I hope both of them get 'I'm Sorry We Awarded The Garbage Performance' Oscars in the next five years, because R O B B E D.
  3. I am so happy. Remember Me was just on another level, in terms of how it elevated the film and so perfectly captured the essence, and beauty, and soul of Coco.
  4. Pros: It's not Hans Zimmer; Cons: WTF PHANTOM THREAD. omfg i'm so nervous, if that fake woke garbage wins over Remember Me, I will scream.
  5. That crowd is so blessed. If you kick out Armie, it's legit all of my favorite people in Hollywood. Gal, Lin, Del Toro, Margot, LUPITA.
  6. Adrian Molina thanking his husband, and Darla Anderson thanking her wife had me like:
  7. I can't believe they had Bratt in the audience and not on stage. That said, I bawled during the Lullaby version.
  8. @ The Dee Rees commercial. All right, I'm in. Give her Batgirl. That was SO PRECIOUS! And I'm still pressed Greta got a nom over her. Mudbound >>>> Lady Bird
  9. The scene of RDJ in Tropic Thunder cut to Eddie Murphy's Side Eye was aces. Just aces.
  10. Allison Williams dress is heinous. Pale white women should not wear beige/nude. It does NOTHING for you. Her hair and earrings are super gorgeous though.
  11. Switch Billboard with Get Out for Best Screenplay and I am 100% here for this. EDIT: Wait. The Shape of Water sweep had me gloss over Best Song. No way. Remember Me >>>>>>>>> everything else.
  12. Wait. Is that real? Cause, Holy Shit, Praise Jesus.
  13. I went in wanting to laugh, and laugh I did. I thought Rachael McAdams was wonderful. I really loved her and her character. I so appreciated that the friends all had their own storylines and issues, and felt like real people, not just random bodies to fill out the cast. The stuff with Jesse Plemons was aces. It was a total shame they under-utilized Chelsea Peretti and Jeffrey Wright. My other big complaint was Jason Bateman felt like he was sleepwalking through the movie. I kept trying to recast him. (I settled on the Hollywood Chrises would've been way better, with Pratt as Bateman, Evans as the brother, Hemsworth as the dumb blond, and Pine as the Bulgarian.) B-/C+
  14. I refuse to believe anything until I see it. Ava's an amazing director and in all the interview's she's done, she's spoken with such a clear vision for what she wanted.
  15. Shuri's "Don't Scare Me, Colonizer" easily got the biggest laugh from the audience. Both times I saw it.
  16. Disney/Marvel does *NOT* give a shit. Feige has said on MULTIPLE occasions that they don't campaign for awards or spend the money to go all out. Could Black Panther's success and quality change their mind? Could Ryan want to lead the charge (he's due a Best Director after the Academy snubbing Creed and Fruitville Station)? We'll see when the screeners start going out in the Fall. That said -- if Ruth Carter (for costumes) and Hannah Beachler (for production designs) don't win those respective categories, I will flip an effing table.
