  1. I would not go this far. I think he was dynamic, but I *DO* feel he was going BIG when a lot of other performers were going for more nuanced, subtle performances - Boseman, Guria, Nyong'o, Bassett, Whitaker, and Brown, who was flawless in my opinion. It's like the villains got the luxury to /go for it/.
  2. From a Comic Book perspective, there is the precedent for Bucky to get the shield before Sam. I would argue though that in the MCU continuity, it makes so much more sense for Sam Wilson to have the shield and the mantle of Captain America. Cap always served as the leader (or co-leader) of the Avengers. Watching how Sam Wilson behaved in CACW -- him leading the discussions in the group chat, he making the sacrifice call at the airport when Cap couldn't, etc - put him in a better position to LEAD Avengers 2.0, because the group already trusts him, whereas Bucky would come in as an outsider. And I absolutely believe Steve would want Sam to have the shield. Those two are joined at the hip to quote Mackie, and have the strongest connection of Steve's new family. (Like, I get, you're never going to match Bucky, but Bucky is the past. Sam is the present.)
  3. LIES. (Know what's even sexier? Him and Evans TOGETHER ) I am SO READY for a Sam Wilson Captain America. I'm just so excited that there's NO EXCUSE NOW to give Bucky that shield, which was the BIG fear of mine since CACW end. On to BP: Couple things since I'm not wading through 200 pages (for forgive me if this has already been said. And if it has, I agree!): - I love how 500M DOM is now the floor, which is amazing; since everyone thought those that believed that a month ago were nuts. We're looking more at like 650M +/- 20M. - 100M second weekend is looking so good. It's gonna feel soo good. Even if it has BVS's record drop of 69%, it's still gonna make 75M. And there's NOTHING to support a 69% drop. My friends in Nashville couldn't get in, and are going next weekend. I have friends already have tickets for next week in PA, and Los Angeles. Hell, I have like three BP dates already booked this week. - It's taking #1 DOM this year (Unless IW is the monster of all monsters. And I'm not ready to have that discussion until I see IW pre-sale numbers. There are too many X factors on both sides that support either outcome.) - I've been saying for weeks: MCU IS GOING #1 AND #2 DOM. And this is truly bonkers. There's a chance that it could make 1.5B DOM in 2018 between all three of Black Panther (625M), Infinity War (575M), and Ant-Man & The Wasp (300M). There's also a better than good chance that Disney could take 4 of the 5, hell even 5 of the 5, Top DOM of 2018 with properties like The Incredibles 2, Mary Poppins, and yes, even Solo, around the corner. That's just stupid ridiculous. Insane. - I'm REALLY excited to see if this gives A Wrinkle In Time a push. I feel that everyone has been underpredicting that movie. Ava Duvernay has been so supportive of Ryan Coogler and Black Panther over the past three months, and they have both spoken openly about editing their films "next door to each other" and the historic significance of both. Disney's been pushing Ava, the film's black female lead, and the diverse cast and crew HARD. I can see the same non-MCU geek audience running back out to the theater to see A Wrinkle in Time. - And, finally, because we can't actually compare CBMs movies, I'm just gonna leave this, as a summarization of everything I feel about WB/DECU:
  4. Even better the second go. - M’baku and the Jabari tribe is such a stand out for me. I can’t wait to see them again in Infinity War. - Boseman is ridiculously good in this. Iconic. There is so much talent in this cast, and the writing so the characters is so rich, it would be easy for a lesser actor to get overshadowed. He has brings quiet, dignify poise to the role, and so much that when he gets angry, it is fierce and magnetic. I also love how soft T’Challa feels without it coming off as weakness or feminine. So beautiful. - Angela Bassett is the most beautiful woman in the world, and I am so glad she got more than a glorified cameo. - I Haaaaaaate Martin Freeman with every fiber of my being, and I didn’t mind him in this. That is how good / how much I enjoyed the film. I also was so happy how even though he got a heroic moment at the end, he wasn’t some paragon of virtue. He was a CIA operative who rattled off plans and way to de-stabilize governments like a nerd talking about his favorite gritty edgelord comic. And that proud smile of “he is one of ours” like he is totally cool with the fact the military industrial complex recruits kids “to help them pay for college” and turns them into killing machines, who come home was often not better off and with PTSD. The only reason thisbmovie is a 9.99/10 instead of a 11/10 is they didn’t kill him. I was so uspet they denied me that!!! - This is really idiosyncratic but one of my favorite parts is when T’Challa jumped on that grenade. My mind went: STEVE!! It felt like a subtle passing of the torch. That we are nearing the end of Phase 3, and we just watched the mantle of the moral compass and soul of the MCU get passed on from Steve to T’Challa, who is going to take the lead from here on. Like I said, it was a personal take. But as a fan who has been with the MCU since Day One, I was in heaven. I have some many more thoughts but Time for work. 10/10 A++ best MCU since TWS
  5. Kevin Feige has had a file on the X-Men since the first X-Men movie when he was an associate producer. If the deal goes through, Fox's Marvel is getting locked in Disney's vault, and the whole thing is gonna be rebooted under Kevin's direction. And if he was CRAZY SMART, he would insist that Storm debuts in Black Panther 2, but leaves at the end to go form her own team, which leads into Storm forming their X-Men boot.
  6. We got Ant-Man & The Wasp, Solo, and Venom. There was DEAD SILENCE after Solo. You could hear a pin drop.
  7. Black Panther 80% Full 7PM IMAX Trailers: Ant-Man & The Wasp (wasn't paying attention over my glee) Solo (DEAD SILENCE) Venom (one or two mumbles) The audience laughed at lot (esp. at Shuri), but not big outcries at MOMENTS or clapping. Kind of disappointing.
  8. This movie is ridiculous, and I loved every minute of it. It's actually a half-decent Victorian Ghost story. I knew we were in for some prime Mumbo Jumbo when they reveal the year is 1906. And honestly, I kind of dug how they weaved historical fact with said Mumbo Jumbo. Mirren is a campy pleasure, the characters are surprisingly semi-interesting, it definitely has a POV (GUNS. ARE. BAD!!!), no women are gratuitously victimized, and those are some great costumes and sets for 3.5 million dollars. Not a terrible way to pass an hour and a half. (B)
  9. I have so many feels, but right now it's just kind of SHURI SHURI SHURI
  10. This looks generic and terrible. And it's going to look even worse if they attach it to Black Panther. I have more confidence in A Star Is Born, which is opening the same weekend, than this.
  11. Rogue One: Baze and Chirrut A New Hope: Leia Empire Strikes Back: Lando Return of the Jedi: Han Phantom Menace: N/A Attack of the Clones: Padme Revenge of the Sith: Obi-Wan The Force Awakens: Finn The Last Jedi: Kylo Ren
  12. Scruffy Chris Evans running into a animal shelter to save a cat is the DEFINITION of female gaze. It easily slid into my Top 25.
  13. I had it at #11. It was Top Ten until Paddington came in like a wrecking ball.
  14. Oh. My God. I totally thought it wasn’t happening!! AND at #5. I have waited my entire life for a Wonder Woman movie, and nothing in 2017 tops the No Man's Land sequence. I am forever indebted to Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot for the euphoric experience of watching Not-Chris Evans tell Diana: "that means no man can cross it ... we can't save everyone in this war ... that is not what we came here to do" followed by camera spinning -- SPINNING!! - as she transformed into Wonder Woman, and told him: "No, but that's what I'M going to do." I had chills as she ascended that ladder to finally reveal Wonder Woman, in her full costumed glory, on my IMAX screen. Ugly Sobbing. I saw it three times opening weekend, and every single time I ugly sobbed through No Man's Land. Patty Jenkins made a Wonder Woman for women -- notice the lack of male gaze -- populated it with amazing ladies, and filled it with love and compassion. I can not stress enough how important this movie is to me. So glad it is on the list.
  15. Professor Marston over Justice League GOOD JOB, FOLKS
  16. @ #8. Those are some glowing reviews. 😂😂😂
  17. Best Picture Backseat If Beale Could Talk The Best of Enemies Black Klansman Boy Erased Mary, Queen of Scots On the Basis of Sex Opehila Where'd You Go, Bernadette?
