  1. Lionsgate’s feature adaptation of the bestselling YA novel Wonder also previewed last night and earned $740k from 2,400 locations that had showtimes starting at 7PM. That movie came was tracking at $9M, moved to $14M and there’s a very good chance it could well outperform. From Deadline, not sure if this would guarantee it to outperform. I had a high hope on it to hit high teens
  2. I totally agree. Better release date should be Thanksgiving weekend. Up against Coco should be fine. Just like what Four Christmases opened some years ago. STX may want to kill the franchise. Who knows?
  3. I have the feeling that Boo 2 will be. Small increase from Boo's opening but fall short in total gross, just like Why Did I Get Married, Too?
  4. Very likely. Split should have been released later in the year over the holiday to increase the chance of James McAvoy's Oscars nomination as well.
  5. This September is gonna be monstrous!!! Potentially 3 films opening over 35M and closes over 100M
  6. WB should have switched the release dates of It and Annabelle 2. It would easily be number one for 4 straight weeks and made 200M domestically as there is almost zero competition.
  7. I am quite surprised that with all these relatively weak new releases in the past few weeks, Dunkirk's leg has not been outstanding, compared to WW, Baby Driver or even SMH which lately started to show some good leg
  8. It was a known fact WW would outperform Mummy. Who would have thought WW on 2nd wknd almost doubled Mummy OW!?!
  9. I know we are only halfway through the long weekend, but with these estimates, it seems this is going to be the least attended Memorial Day since early 1990s... Wonder Woman, SAVE THE BOX OFFICE!
  10. Judging from these pathetic drops of holdovers and flopping openers, it is more than certain that next wknd total will be bigger than this holiday wknd. First time since 2003 for a post Memorial Day wknd to gross more than the MD wknd
  11. There were times that I used to be super-excited with the releases over the US Memorial Day weekend. Sadly, it has lately become a dumping ground for blockbusters. Finger crossed for the Hans Solo film.
  12. Get Out is defying acclaimed science-fiction film Gravity!!! I wish it could stay in the Top 10 for a couple more weeks, but dang! at least 5 releases next week. That would make it harder. But who knows...
  13. Are these pre-sale numbers this week? If so, I have the feeling that Smurf is gonna do The Pirates number (~12 M) and Going in Style has an outside to open north of Smurf!
  14. Smurf 15 Going in Style 12 Sony is killing another franchise obviously. I don't get why they have decided to release Smurf 3 a week after BB. Earlier this year they subduely released Underworld on the first week of the year and RE three weeks later which aimed to the same audience and after XXX3. What were they thinking?
  15. Boss Baby to open at No. 1 and doubling the gross of GitS? Not too surprising but frankly didn't see that coming. We got 5 titles opening north of 40M. Hellya! Seems like March Madness is still on until its last day!
