  1. This is about 2 weeks out now, how we feeling about this? I'm not feeling too confident about it's potential, the very first trailer released in January of 2020 and the movie has been pushed back several times now. The character itself doesn't seem to be too popular nor is the main actor Jared Leto, the curiosity doesn't seem to be there from most people as far as I can tell. The only advantage this has that I can think of is that it's coming out right at the beginning of the April. I can see it having a decent opening weekend, but as of right now I don't think it'll have strong legs as it has very little room to breath with movies such as Sonic 2 and Fantastic Beasts 3 coming out right behind it.
  2. Its funny that Hollywood repeated the same mistake again with the infamous Gods of Egypt movie that came out just a couple of years after Exodus Gods and Kings. A movie based on ancient egyptian mythology......featuring a predominantly white cast with a couple of brown people sprinkled in there in the background, including the late and great Chadwick Boseman. I mean look as this shit
  3. I'm pretty sure it'll need to get a little over 400 to break even, cause I imagine the budget is like between 160 to 200 million. But I think it will be able to do between 350 to 500 million if it's a solid improvement over the 2nd film, which seems to be the case.
  4. Lol and how many leaks and inside scoops are discussed and hyped over in a Marvel or DC movie thread on a daily basis? We're doing the exact same shit I see on those other fourms/topic all the time, aint nothing new here it's just business as usual.
  5. A fair criticism. I'm still salty that they sidelined Newt in his what was supposed to be his own series and just made him a lackey for Dumbledore instead of giving him an actual character arc or story he feels relevant in. These movies don't feel character focused anymore, unlike the Potter movies which was all about the characters.
  6. The humor in the trailer wasn't really landing with me personally, but it does look like dumb fun I can see it being a real hit with kids. I'm thinking this will get better reviews than Uncharted, and considering how unexpectedly good that movie has been doing at the box office I can see Sonic 2 doing quite good as well. Who would have thought that Sonic could actually turn into a decent video game movie franchise? Maybe it's because they seem to be doing their own thing with these and not trying to directly adapt a specific story from the video games.
  7. I read the plot too and I disagree that it will do bad on RT. I think it will get better scores than the 2nd film and get around or slightly above 60%. I said it earlier in the the thread, but just going off the trailers this third movie seems to have a better momentum than the previous installment, more action scenes throughout which I think will keep audiences a bit more engaged than Crimes of Grindelwald did.
  8. I'm not so concerned about the runtime as I am the pacing. The Batman was almost 3 hours long and yet I've barely heard any complaints about it's length. What this third movie needs to do is to keep things moving, the trailers have already show a good amount of action will be happening throughout which is good. They just need to get the characters on their mission as soon as possible and not waste too much time.
  9. How people on twitter reacted when that cast lineup popped up on their timeline A
  10. It's shit like this that makes me a "never say never" type of person. We really are in some crazy times aren't we.
  11. The fact of the matter is the Fantastic Beasts films don't have a lot of good press right now and every time Rowling goes on her soapbox about trans people it just adds a little more insult to injury. If this were a marvel series and Kevin Feige starting saying some controversial things then I'm willing to bet a lot of marvel fans would still go see the next MCU movie regardless and be like "Well Idc about what Fiege says just give me more cape shit". People let a lot slide when they already like something vs when they don't. A lot of audience members have a "what have you done for me lately? mentality and we can see the detriments and benefits that can bring to a franchise. But part of me does think that overseas audiences aren't as invested in the typical internet controversies as us Americans over here tend to be. Regardless, all studios want good press for all their content no matter what. And if they can guarantee that good press the best they can do is minimize the role or press of whoever causes said controversies and hope people mostly forget about them.
  12. Whoa alright lets tone it down a bit there. Putting people on a high pedestal that you don't personally know is risky business no matter how much you like their work.
  13. It was a mess. There was a plot leak a few months ago for this movie and as someone who read it I can say that this one definitely is an improvement over the 2nd movie, how much of an improvement the final product will be remains to be seen.
  14. Definitely does seem to be more action going on cause in the last movie there was barely any. The only action scene of note I remember was Grindelwald's escape at the beginning and then the rest of the movie was just a lot of characters walking around and talking. I don't see this movie getting a 90 something percent on RT or anything but I do see people acknowledging there's more momentum in this one compared to the previous installment which is a considerable improvement.
  15. You know it really is disappointing that Katherine Waterston is only in like one scene in the movie. The fact that her character and Alison Sudol (Queenie) are supposed to be sisters and they haven't actually shared a scene together since the first movie is real unfortunate. And judging by the new trailer (which is an improvement over the previous one) they didn't do much reshoots involving her character, otherwise we would have seen a shot of Tina somewhere by now. Idk to me the characters from the first movie have barely been developed and we're in the third movie already.
  16. I'm curious to see how this does. This is giving off some New Mutants vibes and I'm not super optimistic about potential cause it's already been delayed several times and idk how many people will be going "I/we wanna go see the new Jared Leto movie". With both Sonic 2 and Fantastic Beasts 3 coming out in the same month this movies legs are likely to get cut really quick. But I've seen a few people in the forum say that Sony has been budgeting their movies more conservatively the past few years and Uncharted is actually doing alright despite early predictions be low, so if thats the case with this movie then maybe it will be able to hang in there.
  17. Yes, thats probably my 2nd biggest issue with this series is that there really isn't much stakes to be had. The status quo of the world isn't changed and these movies are hyping up the whole "we gotta stop Grindewlad from taking over the world" angle when we all know he doesn't. What I really liked about the first movie was how relatively self-contained it was, just a few characters on an adventure with no wider implications other than simply expanding the world a bit. Depends on how this movie is received. I've said it before but if all else fails the final two movies could just become HBO Max exclusives if they want to finish things out.
  18. If they aren't going to release the trailer today then postponing it till next Thursday/Friday isn't going to hurt anything. Sometimes real world stuff takes precedence over escapism content.
  19. Another reason why it was moved was because Black Panther 2 at that time was scheduled to come out in July 2022 as well, and WB wisely decided to give that film a wide berth and move this film up a bit. I still think this would have been better as an October 2022 release.
  20. Jesus christ this cast is something. It's life Knives Out 2 all over again, hell at this point I'm expecting people from this forum to be cast in the movie. I just hope the story power is enough to match the star power. Because these days I get a little wary when I see a cast is a bit too filled with a bunch of big names.
  21. Because thats what every other movie these days does. It's not about whether you know or care about the characters, they still need to be seen on a poster. People like to know what the actor/characters in the movie will look like which is why we get so many of those redundant floating head posters people (including me) have been complaining about in recent years.
  22. So far how well are we thinking this movie will do internationally? Personally I think the domestic hype is definitely there but I'm still not so sure about the international hype. I remember saying a while back on this topic that I don't think this movie will be making a billion dollars like many others have said, maybe half that, which is still a considerable success. Whatever happens, this movie will have to get by on it's own merit and without major help from nostalgia/previous franchise entries like No Way Home did.
