Man I really really hope this isn't true, a tv reboot is the best they can come up with? I'd rather take a Curse Child tv show over this, at least thats technically a new story. That Percy Jackson tv reboot Disney is doing makes way more since than this, because they never got to do a full row of movies for that book series.

I'm thinking this will be good counter-programming to John Wick 4. It might be a sleeper hit similar to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, especially with the surprisingly good reviews making it out to be a fun fantasy romp that anybody can get into whether you're a fan of the property or not (always a plus). It also makes the failures of Shazam 2 and Ant Man 3 look even worse when a Dungeons and Dragons movie manages to surpass both in terms of quality and box office.

The Disney Thread | Iger will be with us until 2026
clockwork replied to A Marvel Fanboy's topic in Box Office Discussion
This is something I have to remind myself of during these types of situations. I genuinely always try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but at the same time I don't know what everyone's true colors are. All I'll say that if it's true that he did this shit then the dude is a moron and deserves what's coming to him. If he didn't do this then I hope he get exonerated and his reputation remains mostly intact. -
Well I'll be damned, this actually looks pretty good. I'm still 50/50 on Ezra as Barry Allen, the acting was good in some parts of the trailer and not so great in other spots. I have a feeling this might actually be a real hit. Now if Ezra can just keep themselves under control for a little while longer they may just salvage their career.

95th Academy Awards nominations thread
clockwork replied to filmlover's topic in And The Winner Is...
I'm thinking that Redmayne's gonna get the snub for best supporting actor, and that maybe Brad Pitt or somebody else will get that last spot. Idk I just got that feeling about it but it could go either way. -
Unfortunately I think you're right. In regards to movies, the farthest you can go back is to the 20th century and have audiences be interested enough to check it out on the big screen, sword and sandals flicks have been dead theatrically for a while. Television/streaming is where most of the content set in the far past seem to be at. Medieval and Victorian era stuff seems aplenty in places like Netflix, Hulu, etc. It's a shame because I really like fantasy and I feel like the genre has dried up a bit in recent years, whereas sci-fi has been booming for a while now.

I had that issue a few days ago but then the "latest" tab just randomly showed up again after I took a break.

The Mandalorian | March 2023 for S3
clockwork replied to Fullbuster's topic in Streaming, TV Series, & VOD Movies
Looks pretty good to me. They're definitely making this season more of an action/adventure story than another western style plot like in the previous seasons. Since we're done with our serious political thriller Andor we can go back to our fun space western adventures in The Mandalorian. It's good for a franchise to offer variety. -
Wow, Kang isn't messing around is he? And a marvel trailer with almost no humor whatsoever and actually taking things seriously? I have a good feelings about this. This will be the movie that will set the course for the marvel phase for sure, which is what people have been wanting from what I've heard over the past year.

2023 Box Office Predictions and Discussion
clockwork replied to Eric Loves Rey's topic in Box Office Discussion
I'm cautiously optimistic. The title is so-so but I thought the trailer was pretty solid, so I could see it preforming like a lesser version of Top Gun Maverick if it hits right. The main concern I have is if the younger crowd will willing to go out to see an Indiana Jones movie, is there enough a hook to get them interested? Then again I thought the same about Maverick and that movie was a hit for pretty much everybody so who knows. -
Amsterdam (2022)
clockwork replied to Eric Loves Rey's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
I have mixed feelings about this movie. I kinda sorta liked it...maybe? I like the general idea of it: three friends from WW1 who get caught up in a political conspiracy in the 1930s. But this movie has a momentum problem, there wasn't a real sense of urgency throughout which made it feel slow at times. this movie did not need to be 2 hours and the story/script absolutely needed to be tightened up, would have definitely been more bored watching this in a theater than at home on streaming where I watched it in parts essentially over the course of a day. The acting was...serviceable at best. I didn't feel much passion from any of the actors except Christian Bale and Margot Robbie, they kinda seemed into it. John David Washington was so-so but I think he is/can be a capable actor when given the right material and direction and hey he got to kiss and hug Margot Robbie which is never a bad position to be in. -
I think the opposite. I think it's time for HP content to do something beyond simply "here's more Hogwarts related stuff" and the first FB at least made an attempt to go beyond that one part of the world we already know about and it's the most successful of the ones we got thus far. I think digging in their heels into already established potter lore is the wrong way to go. They need to think about grabbing some new demographics instead of servicing the ones already locked into that world. The fantasy genre is lacking at the moment so this would be a good time for WB to spice things up with the Wizarding World and get it back on track.

Had to learn this lesson myself this year. You don't have the job until you've signed the paperwork and have a start date, simple as that. Another lesson too is not to put all your eggs in one basket, have multiple things lined up just in case that one thing doesn't go through. Henry gonna continue to get work for sure and I do think he's a good actor, perhaps him not getting this role may be a blessing in disguise and he might get something better that'll further his career soon.

I do hope they kept the budget in check for this movie. Bumblebee cost about 100 million and made a 468 million worldwide. If they managed to keep this movies budget under 150 million then I can see it turning a decent profit, but I think the days of Transformers movie making a billion dollars are over. I do have some faith this will turn out to be a decent film, Stephen Caple Jr seems like a capable director who's actually serious about making a decent movie unlike whatever Michael Bay was doing in the previous ones.

Looks pretty good. I watched the Indiana Jones movies for the first time a few years ago and I really liked them. I can sense from this trailer that Harrison Ford heart may actually be in this one and may give a great performance. I also liked the joke callback at the end of trailer to the famous gun scene from Ark of the Covenant.

No matter what happens, please WB don't make anything related to Cursed Child. Most Potter fans I've seen/heard from actively dislike that story and I personally have no interest in it. I've heard the stage play is good though. Here's a suggestion: start investing in some animated Wizarding World projects WB. They would be considerably cheaper to make than just doing live-action stuff all the time, and if you do it right you might be able to pull of something like The Clone Wars series (which I love and so many others do). Also, even if Rowling sells the rights I still don't see the original three actors coming back anytime soon. And tbh I hope they don't and it forces WB to get creative with the property, start getting more fantastical with it and add a good helping of diversity too cause the fantasy (and sci-fi) genre sure do need it and it could bring it new/more viewers as well.
