  1. Random question, but what did Ann Sarnoff accomplish during her short time at WB? It just feels like she simply came and went and she was there for about two and a half years. I wonder if Zasloff will even last as long as she did.
  2. Overconfidence. Warner Brothers has been giving out 200 million budgets to everybody and their momma the last few years and barely any of those big budget movies turned a profit. The Suicide Squad did poorly, Matrix Resurrections is probably their biggest bomb in recent years, The Batman managed to do pretty well, Fantastic Beasts 3 was sorta a flop but still managed to get over 400 mil, and it looks like Black Adam might struggle to get past 400 million too. They have nobody to blame but themselves for their poor performance within the past year.
  3. Keanu likely doesn't care about stuff like this, he minds his business and stays drama free from what I can gather and doesn't have any form of social media. It's a really messed up thing to say about somebody though so Perry needs to settle his ass down.
  4. Trailer looks cool. I feel like this movie will surprise a lot of people (in a good way). I think it was a missed opportunity to tease the Quantum realm at bit in The Multiverse of Madness movie, because there's definitely some of those vibes going on here. Johnathan Majors is about to have good year in 2023, with this movie and then Creed 3 coming a few weeks after.
  5. Is The Batman WB's most successful movie within the past year? It certainly seems like it. All their other stuff seemed to either underperform, near flop, or straight up bomb in the case of Matrix Resurrections. In a weird way maybe this whole debt situation may cause them to start doing more quality control across the board, they sure do need it.
  6. Michelle Yeoh is certainly getting some work isn't she? Good for her. I never saw Death on the Nile but it felt like it just came and went rather quickly, the cast for that movie was kind of so-so anyway. This cast for this one seems a bit more low key but hopefully thats turns out for the best. I don't think that all murder mysteries need a huge recognizable cast to be good/great.
  7. And if for any reason he gets arrested between now and the movies release for something serious then god help Warner Brothers, because that wont be something they can just sweep under the rug easily.
  8. I admittedly don't know much about David Russel, but besides him it just feels like there's little awareness about this film in general. It has a staked cast and yet the trailers didn't really stand out and the marketing feels minimal at best. I feel like this guy has a pretty accurate take on whats gonna happen to this movie.
  9. Personally, I never wanted Grindelwald in this series at all. I'm really tired of Nazi villains, allegories, or anything vaguely similar in stories these days. I think future content within the wizarding world needs to involve different types of villains/antagonist than just the same old big bad dark wizards. Of course that would require involving writers who actually want to take things in different directions, which I pray happens sooner rather than later.
  10. Everything I've read thus far about the situation just makes it even more sad all around. From the little I've read it seemed that she had a rough upbringing and was driving under the influence which seemed to have caused the crash. I don't know how true that all is but it's still a horrible thing to happen. I hope everybody in this situation can find some peace.
  11. Shang Chi made about $432.2 million worldwide; received over $200 million from both domestic and International markets. It did good. https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl3490022913/
  12. The biggest issue here, just like in the last movie, is that once again the plot and the characters are all over the place. It seems that adding Steve Kloves into the mix did little to help, as Rowling's ideas still feel out of control here and and they were barely able to scrape to together a semi-comprehensible narrative. The characters from the previous movie are back and at this point I just feel sorry for the actors, maybe they're just happy to be involved in this franchise but they barely get any decent character work here. I like Eddie Redmayne and I really wish Newt had been given some actual character development, three movies in and we barely know anything about him other than he has a brother and take care of magical creatures. It feels like he got his franchise hijacked from under him because these last two films have not done a good job explaining his personal stake in Dumbledore and Grindelwalds conflict. It's the same with Dan Foglers character Jacob, I know he's a fan favorite but from a story standpoint there's very little reason for him to be in this movie and contributes very little. All the other characters new and returning barely get anything worthwhile to do here either because there's more concern over political commentary and special effects than crafting a story with some heart and depth. There is a considerable lack on fun in these movies which is disappointing, especially when you look at a title "Fantastic Beasts" you'd think things would be a little more...fantastical? But no, instead we have a plot revolving around a magical election; how exciting. Maybe in the hands of a better screenwriter and director it could have been improved but as it stands it's a barely passable movie even for the most die hard and or forgiving fans. I really wish that a Fantastic Beasts movie could just be a magical indiana Jones adventure for once, because I guarantee that would be a whole lot better than what we've gotten thus far. C-
  13. So I finally got a chance to see this, I really liked it. I was surprised they revealed Wanda as the villain so quickly in the story (or maybe it just felt quick to me) because I thought we wouldn't see her full force until midway through the 2nd act. I'm kinda 50/50 on Wanda in the movie; on the one hand I really liked Elizabeth Olsen's performance, on the other hand I'm not sure I liked the way the character was handled. She pretty much went crazy because of reading the darkhold. I would have rather there be a slower build up to her becoming unhinged than have her be buck wild from the get-go. Another nitpick I have is the special effects were so-so at times, noticeably in the fight with the Cthulhu-like demon. The magic in the movie at times felt like a case of quantity over quality, probably the most creative magic scene imo was the musical fight. It was brief but I certainty wasn't expecting it and it stood out more than the standard explosions and knockbacks that are everywhere in this one. Also I felt the absence of Tilda Swinton here, wish she would have made a cameo or something. So like I said earlier, I really liked this movie and it's still crazy to me that it took 5 years for Doctor Strange to get his sequel. I do hope the next movie tones things down just a bit, a crazy as this sounds I think there was a bit **too** much magic here. Also lets give the multiverse a break for a while. B+
  14. They should just send any future wizarding world content to streaming for the foreseeable future, focus on building back some good will with the audience. If they want to make another movie then reduce the budget and just have it be an HBO Max exclusive. I know this is wishful thinking on my part, but maybe this movies underperformance will cause them to start making change on how they produce content for the HP franchise. It'd sure be nice to see other people besides Heyman, Yates, and Rowling coming up with new stories for this world.
  15. Hey people, decided to pop back in after taking a little hiatus. Just saw this on reddit, so apparently this is the final domestic total for the movie. Not all that good if we're being honest, but it made over 400 world wide so I guess that counts for something? It did better than Matrix Resurrections at least and ww total is about the same as Dune 2021 so it wasn't a complete wash. It's really up to WB if they want to do another one, I could see it going either way tbh. If they make one more it sure as hell wont have a 200 mil budget, nor should it. Hell I'd say just stick it on HBO Max, have it be an exclusive. Netflix just shelled out 200 mil for Red Notice (even though they're going broke) so I could theoretically see other services/companies have a big budget movie premiere exclusively on one of their services, maybe once or twice a year. But I'm not a business man so idk how feasible that would be financially in the long run.
  16. One grade lower than Sonic 2 and about three grades above Morbius, which just got to show you how bad Morbius was.
  17. I'd make the argument that he's not just not chosen the best projects to be in as of late. I was glad to see him in Trial of The Chicago 7 as that was an enjoyable movie and I thought he was good in that, and he's going to be in a film with Jessica Chastain called The Good Nurse which will be coming out on Netflix sometime this year. But I do think he needs to start seeking out better projects to be apart of, maybe do a tv series, start building up a better track record. Like you said he's only like 40 years old so he's still a lot he can do, he just needs to start choosing better roles.
  18. I'm starting to think that each of the actors/actresses in this movie may get only one line of dialogue, or you just may seem them walking around in the background while the main character is having a conversation lol.
  19. It seems pretty stabilized in the 50's with 150 reviews and an average of 5.60 out of 10. For every few rotten reviews there's a few fresh ones right behind them so I highly doubt it'll go dramatically lower or higher than where it is right now.
  20. If they decide to do a fourth and maybe a fifth movie then absolutely need to reduce the amount of main characters. The first movie worked because the main characters stuck together and there was only four of them, these last two movies increased the amount of characters we had to follow and had them all running around separately instead of as a unit. The vast majority of ensemble movies have the main characters roughly in the same area all on one main mission. The Oceans movies did pretty well in that regard as we knew all the characters were just robbing Casinos, the plots weren't complicated. The more characters there are in a story the more you need to tighten the hell out of the plot. There should be no questions as to what characters are doing, why they're doing it, and when they're getting it done. It seems that Kloves barely managed to string together a cohesive story for this movie, but its evident with these last two movies that Rowling has issues killing her darlings, issues she needs to address or somebody needs to force her to address. Personally I don't think she should be involved in the script writing process at all. If she were anybody else they would've been kicked her off screenwriting duties. Regardless, something's gotta change.
  21. I'll say it'll get a little above or around 365M internationally. Crimes of Grindelwald made 495M internationally so I'll be realistic and say it'll drop around 100 or so from that. Domestic I think it will get to the lower 100, like 110-120.
  22. This article is just a bunch of stuff we already knew; controversies, lackluster films, WB currently operating with a "wait and see" mentality in regards to finishing the series. Must be a slow new days.
  23. I'm thinking this will get an A- or A Cinema score. Also I think this films performance will play like a slightly better version of the Eternals movie's performance; with domestic numbers in the lower 100 millions whereas overseas performance will reach into the higher 300 millions, which'll culminate with worldwide gross in the high 400s or just slightly past 500.
  24. People see low numbers when things start out and jump to "wow there's no movement at all with this" but I'm sure there's been many successful movies that had an initial slow buildup then got into a very steady rhythm and rode it to success. But I'm not a numbers person so thats just how I interpret this situation.
  25. I believe this movie had a pretty good opening weekend, we'll know the actually numbers tomorrow but I do wonder if this movie may be more frontloaded than we suspect. The super fans really liked it and some casual people to, but I'm still not sure it will be a super huge over-preformance overall as some are saying. There's good domestic hype going but Idk how much international hype there is. The last movie only made about 22 million more international than domestically, which to me didn't really indicate a strong overseas audience for this. I will say though that I think this will get a little over 400 million ww.
