When it rains, it pours. At this point I’m just waiting for them to cast Chris Evans as the Human Torch, Matt Salinger as Steve Rogers, Chloe Bennet, Elliot Page, Wesley Snipes, and Dolph Lundgren in their previous marvel roles.

Certainly gotta wonder how they plan to juggle the screen time of all of these people at this point. But they made Civil War and Infinity War work with even more big characters, so it should be possible. Best guess would be that the movie clocks in at near 150 minutes, it’s around 80 for Holland, 20-25 for Zendaya and the main villain (Doc Ock?), 8-15 for lesser supporting cast, and just a couple minutes a pop (if that) for a lot of these multiverse castings.

Ahhh, so nice to have some concrete numbers for a blockbuster again. I would normally track WW84 in SK, but my impression is that the market is back to being pretty covid impacted, unlike China and Japan. I wonder if some people in China are just waiting for the HD rips on the 25th. If so it makes the whole hybrid model very tough, for WB and anyone else who tries it. -
Yeah. I mean, we have already had 23 MCU movies produced by Feige. That’s a lot. There’s no specific reason to expect things to go off the rails on movie #27 or whatever. That’s not to say there will never be a miss, just that when ever the miss happens it will not have been historically rational to have expected it of that particular movie in advance.

I’m only seen it once, but I can’t say I feel much need to rewatch. I understood it just fine, but don’t really care for the plot or like any of the characters. But I hate the Prestige and didn’t like Interstellar. Something about Nolan’s style that doesn’t really click for me I guess.

I don’t think this will really be a spider verse film per se. Yes, multiverse shenanigans are inevitable, but it’s still an open question how central there are to the story. I think it will be more of a Tom Holland/Sinister Six story with some previous spider-man cameos.

It didn’t bring anybody back from the dead though? Unless you’re talking about the snapped people, but they were obviously coming back as soon as IW came out so I dunno if that should really count. Continuity is a big concern of Marvel’s.

Hmm, well well well. Seems like we’re getting the Sinister Six, and with actors reprising the roles that had already been done in previous Spider-man movies. Wonder exactly what roster they’ll do. Still, I caution people to remember that we have no word on whether this will be “same actor, same character, diffident universes via multiverse shenanigans” or simply “same actor, different characters (versions native to the MCU earth).”

I think WW84 and Matrix4 would have both done in the roughly 800-1B range, some chance of a bit more or a tad less. So I wouldn’t be at all surprised by either winning. Matrix 1 made the top 30 WW and Matrix 2 the top 15. Matrix 3 was lower, but JP3 didn’t stop JW from being huge.

Reading more about the Legendary situation, I don’t really see how WB even has a leg to stand on there? Unless Legendary agreed to some really shitty contracts to begin with.

Seems like some of these casting are legitimately sketch, but some of these complaints are just weak. “Is a Trump supporter???” I don’t like them either but that’s like 40%+ of the country!

Yes, I discovered after she linked that anti-vax tweet that she does not appear to be simply a normal person with bad beliefs about vaccine safety but a full blown anti-lgbt religious crazy. I’m sure I’m on record somewhere earlier in this thread advocating for Shuri to take on the mantle in BP2, but now I hope that doesn’t happen (unless they recast, which realistically isn’t going to happen).
