I don’t really see why we’d expect this to crank up until after QM, and there’s a new trailer dropping in the next 7 days. So on the one hand I wouldn’t take the current state on that front as a particularly negative indication.
That said if WB distribution money is tight as rumored that could be a minor drag — and even in the normal course of things, perfectly normal for a sequel without much “added value” (that I know of, haven’t been following too closely) to decline from the 1st entry even if well received.
In other words, hopefully WB had a nice budget again because something like 125 would seem pretty normal here.
Was this a holiday wknd or something? If not puss can probably take the 6th wknd record right? Would be insane to have a new one twice in consecutive weeks
1/2 not enough, congrats to @Hilts
For next weekend would really like to get rid of Whitney but the options for new movies are pretty dubious— Infinity Pool looks like over 1M I guess, it’s an NC-17 with very little tracking. Pathaan will be several M and probably my recommendation, but still foreign with pretty little tracking. Pick yer poison
I'm not a big Shyamalan movie fan per se, but the "I'm funding the movie myself, I'll have final say on everything and take all the profits" move is incredibly chad.
Oh, I misread. Some of those are basically museum movies — never very wide in a traditional release sense but can continue being shown for years or even decades. And some are just platform releases that never went quite wide enough during a time with healthy competition.
Wonder what the 1/5/10 lists look like for post pandemic.
Just open in the penumbra of a larger movie (Rogue One, Avatar (2x), I am Legend, Monsters University, Transformers, Venom, BH6)
Or pull a mbfgw and go absolutely loonie for like a full year or whatever.
After losing #1:
I2 340
TGM 375
Both lost it to a Jurassic World movie. Inside Out made 322 after losing #1 to the other movie int he trilogy if we go by dailies.
Ah, sniped already. Anyway good shot for top 10 but not much farther: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/chart/never_in_top/?by_rank_threshold=1&ref_=bo_cso_ac
