  1. I never said there wasn’t appreciation for the movie. All I said is that it’s not really a crowdpleaser. Same goes for Ex Machina.
  2. Its legs weren’t even that great considering how low the OW was.
  3. Considering the track record that DC movies tend to have in Japan, it might as well be considered a huge hit. Anyway, if hiding the musical aspect backfired on the Mean Girls remake, I imagine it would backfire especially bad here.
  4. It’s an A24 film from the guy who made Annihilation. It being a crowdpleaser was always a long shot. The fact that it’s being marketed as an action thriller when it apparently isn’t might also bite it in the ass.
  5. Funny how Shadow the Hedgehog’s popularity seems to be making a comeback after having been seen as an irrelevant joke for the entirety of the 2010s.
  6. I don’t think there were rumors of Gunn getting the job as head of DC before it was officially announced near the end of October. It was reported that Dan Lin was in talks to take the job, but he ultimately turned it down. Of course, we do know that Michael de Luca secretly approached James Gunn in August 2022 to do a Superman reboot, which was around the same time The Rock was trying to bring back Cavill. My assumption is that if Black Adam had been a hit, then James Gunn’s Superman project would’ve been canceled, and Seven Bucks Production would be the ones calling the shots at DC right now, but since that didn’t happen, Gunn got the job instead.
  7. Random question, but is Koba the only ape throughout the entire franchise to be a bonobo?
  8. 130 minutes would make this the longest Deadpool movie by a decent margin. Not every superhero movie needs to be two and a half hours.
  9. I recall Disney putting a lot of work into their Comic Con panel in 2022, at least as far as Marvel was concerned.
  10. The Joker movies exist solely because of Todd Phillips. If he doesn’t want to do Batman, I don’t think they can force him. Besides, three concurrent live action Batmen would be sheer insanity.
  11. I never said we should take the leakers words as gospel. I was simply responding to another poster’s concerns. Regardless, I agree that we should at least wait until we get some official confirmation of what the movie is actually about. I just think Gunn isn’t really doing himself any favors by constantly addressing any rumors that pop up about the DCU. It just muddies the waters and only gives the leakers more attention.
  12. Without having seen the movie yet for myself, I think if you’re going to make a movie involving a fictional war, without bothering to clarify the whys and the hows behind it, you might as well have it take place in an entirely fictional setting, instead of setting it in the contemporary United States during an extremely divided election year, and calling it Civil War. That just makes it sound like they’re deliberately setting up the audience’s expectations.
  13. The logo is still used for movies that fall under the 20th Century umbrella. Avatar had it, for example.
  14. MoM had a lot of hype because it was billed as a follow-up to NWH that would double down on the fanservice. The fact that it wasn’t that no doubt contributed to its poor legs.
  15. I could see Spider-Man taking the May 2026 date. It’s not technically a Disney film, but Disney does directly benefit from it.
  16. It’s set to open on Memorial Day. That doesn’t mean Avengers will get delayed. Disney typically likes to schedule a Marvel movie for the first weekend of May, and another big event movie over Memorial Day weekend. Edit: For the record, I wouldn’t be surprised if Avengers 5 moves out of 2026, but if it does, then another Marvel movie will likely take its place.
  17. Depends on what you mean by “fresh perspective”. I would assume they’re gonna try and do a nostalgia bait cash grab.
  18. Regardless of whatever shortcomings the Wachowskis have as filmmakers, they were the ones who gave the Matrix movies a distinct identity, warts and all. Take them out of the equation and I don’t really see how the Matrix franchise is supposed to stand out from all the other sci-stories that involve virtual reality and humans fighting machines.
  19. Let’s be real, Disney has never cared about spreading a message, contrary to what the conservative fear-mongers have claimed. They’ve only ever cared about making money. Their attempts at diversity have generally been pretty mild, but we live in a really stupid era where simply showing two people of the same gender holding hands is enough to inspire outrage.
