    Harrison Ford was pushing 80 when this was filmed. Of course he was too old to continue being an action star. People already thought he was too old back in 2008.

    Fox News is part of the media, and I think it absolutely played a part in emboldening people like that.

    I can’t imagine the Matrix without either of the Wachowski’s, and I can’t say I want to either. For once, I wish Hollywood would stop using nostalgia as a crutch.

    The idea that Sony was trying to set this in the MCU would be absolutely hilarious and not at all surprising. Sony has been making the MCU continuity more confusing than it needs to be with their constant attempts to piggyback off it. Even ATSV was guilty of this with that “Earth-199999” line.

    Nelson Peltz is an out touch rich old guy who was backing another out of touch rich old guy who had a personal grievance against Kevin Feige.

    Interstellar is pretty much universally praised as one of the great sci-if epics of the 21st century nowadays. Certain people were snarky towards it back in the day, presumably because Marvel was dominating the landscape, so Internet critics were less willing to accept a genre film that wasn’t full of Whedonisms, but as of the 2020s, it’s consistently viewed as one of Christopher Nolan’s best films.

    I’ve recently found myself questioning whether that was all a publicity stunt from WB. If so, then it paid off pretty spectacularly.

    Why is Apple so against releasing the four hour cut? They’re a streaming service! They can afford to release an alternate cut of a movie from a well known director.

    Nah, Transformers actually does have a pretty devoted fanbase. That’s why the franchise has a ridiculously convoluted mythology for something that was made to sell toys. Michael Bay even received death threats back when the first movie was being made. That wouldn’t have happened if Transformers didn’t have a devoted fanbase.

    November seems like an optimal time for this to be released.

    I’m tired of “early access screenings”. The OW numbers for modern films are already inflated from the ridiculously early Thursday “previews”, and these additional screenings only muddy the waters further.

    Edge of Tomorrow isn’t really a good example. It was always a well received movie. It just flopped because the marketing wasn’t very good.

    I can’t imagine Christopher Nolan directing a Western.

    As I more or less expected, this was a very silly movie. It‘s almost hard to believe the 2014 Godzilla is the same universe as this. That movie was so reserved in comparison.

    I’m debating if I should go see this. It might be a decent way to kill a couple of hours, but I’m worried that the crowd will be disruptive. This seems like the kind of movie that would attract some fairly obnoxious moviegoers. Even Dune was like that.

    I hope they retroactively give a tragic explanation for why the GUN commander is obsessed with Olive Garden.

    There’s no reason to treat it like a given that Avatar 3 will be delayed again. There have been no warning signs of that so far. If Fantastic Four can’t make its July date, and assuming the next MCU Spider-Man is coming out that year (though it apparently doesn’t have a production start date yet, according to Variety), I suppose they could try for September, while Spider-Man releases in November.

    Personally, the only MonsterVerse film I’d consider particularly “fun” is Kong: Skull Island. GvK is a little too mindless for my taste, and the action doesn’t have much weight to it, in my opinion.

    Can’t the “it’s just meant to be dumb spectacle” defense be applied to the Michael Bay Transformers films as well? People have still ragged on those for the better part of 15 years.
