  1. There does seem to be an aversion to giving female protagonists love interests these days, or at the very least, male love interests. For the record, I don’t have a problem with that. I didn’t mind Captain Marvel not having a love interest, nor would I be bothered if they made her gay (although China probably would). I just think it’s weird how Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, etc., pretty much always need to have their love interests, but giving a female hero one is seen as problematic by some.
  2. If you’re referring to Greg Rucka’s comments, the movie had already finished filming by that point.
  3. That was a different time, though. Marvel seems to have gotten better about giving their directors some space after the Edgar Wright fiasco.
  4. It’s astonishing that this thread is 40 pages in, and we still know virtually nothing about the film beyond the people who are in it.
  5. It’s been a while since I’ve heard the term “Nolanite”. That certainly takes me back.
  6. Well, the actress who plays Mary was 21 when they filmed this, yet she played a character who was clearly younger than that.
  7. Lightest film in the DCEU (or whatever we’re supposed to call it) my ass! There were scenes in the movie that made my jaw drop on the count of how shocking they were to see. Anyone who’s seen the film can probably guess which ones I’m talking about. This is definitely not a “kiddie film” like some people may have assumed. This is a film that most definitely earned its PG-13 rating for reasons that don’t involve language or suggestive humor (though it has some of that too). Anyway, I enjoyed it, but by God did it get unsettling.
  8. Does this mean people can stop panicking about what a flop this movie will be?
  9. Actually, at the time that Shazam! was scheduled to be released on April 5 2019 (2014), Marvel had only been releasing two movies a year. They hadn’t yet begun releasing movies in February/March. Hell, CM was originally scheduled to be released in July 2018, while BP was scheduled for November 2017.
  10. I mean, Endgame wasn't scheduled to be released at the end of April until they released the teaser at the end of last year. It was originally going to be released at the beginning of May.
  11. Would the movie have even been done at that point? They did reshoots back in December.
  12. To clarify, I’m pretty sure he means in terms of DCEU movies (or whatever we’re supposed to call them), since TDK and TDKR opened in more theater rooms.
  13. The movie was scheduled to be released on April 5 long before CM and Endgame were scheduled for their respective dates.
  14. They chose this date over four years ago, well before Endgame was scheduled to be released when it is.
  15. Since it would presumably be radically different from what we got in theaters, I’d want to see it out of sheer curiosity.
  16. “Easiest films ever”? In what way should those films have been “easy”? Also, what’s with the personal attacks against the guy?
  17. That is true, but it should be kept in mind that Titanic didn’t benefit from 3D ticket prices in its initial run, and the foreign market was nowhere near what it is today either.
