  1. The thing is, I wasn’t even trying to start some argument about BvS, especially not in an MCU thread. I just thought I’d point out that Chris Terrio is another example of a Hollywood screenwriter who’s had bad luck with studios. Anyway, I don’t have any strong opinions one way or the other about Michael Waldron writing both Avengers movies. We’ll see how it goes I guess. I’m not even sure whether or not it’s a good thing that Marvel apparently isn’t being reactionary enough to just scrap Kang Dynasty.
  2. Just pointing out the irony in your observation that people are too hard on screenwriters. I don’t really feel like fighting about this.
  3. Funny you brought up Chris Terrio, because not only was BvS severely cut down for theaters, but TRoS suffered from exactly what you’re referring to. By all accounts, the production on the movie was a complete mess, and the script was constantly being rewritten. It’s probably not fair to pin all the blame on Terrio.
  4. We’re really gonna argue now that the Fantastic Four are too silly to work in film?
  5. Audiences weren’t too hot on MoM, but I’ve always maintained that’s largely because Marvel made the mistake of giving people the wrong kinds of expectations for it. They attached the initial teaser to the post-credits for NWH, and the movie was marketed as though it was going to be this big event film that would deliver more of what people loved about NWH. That had to have left a mark on the movie’s legs.
  6. Since 2024 is looking to be a bit of a breather year, 2025 will be the real test to see if the MCU, and superhero movies in general, have a future. In terms of Marvel’s slate, Fantastic Four and Blade (assuming it manages to come out) interest me more than Cap and Thunderbolts, which I’m pretty indifferent to.
  7. Hard to believe that just last year, everyone was going on about what a horrible flop Black Adam was, and now there’s a decent chance that it’ll outgross every DC film released this year.
  8. Maybe he just doesn’t want his career to be defined by a character who people place a ridiculous amount of expectations for?
  9. I don’t see how Disney are the ones waging a culture war. That’s what Ron DeSantis and a bu ch of conservative grifters who have a hate-boner for Kathleen Kennedy and Brie Larson have been doing.
  10. I believe Iger made it clear that his plan is to play it safe by focusing on sequels to their more popular animated films, which is why they’ve announced more Frozen movies, another Toy Story and a long awaited Zootopia sequel.
  11. “Consent Is Surrender”: SAG-AFTRA Board Member Matthew Modine Will Vote Against Guild Deal With Studios, Again; Full Agreement To Be Released Friday
  12. They might as well push this back a week. May 31st seems pretty empty right now, as far as I can tell.
  13. Was there ever any doubt that the GA loved NWH? I thought this discussion was about how online circles have come to view the movie.
  14. The lead of the recent Scream movies just got fired, and Susan Sarandon was dropped by her talent agency.
  15. We knew Skyler Gisondo was gonna get the part since before the SAG strike, so this announcement is more of a formality at this point.
  16. They really don’t, but again, as I already stated, the Depp stans weren’t going to watch this movie anyway, so trying to pander to them is hopeless.
  17. When it comes to movies that are like “theme park rides,” I consider NWH the ultimate example. It’s a fairly sloppily put together film from a narrative standpoint, but it gave people everything they were hoping for, and manages to tug on the heart strings in just the right ways. I can’t deny that watching it for the first time in a packed theater was a pretty fun experience. The hype and audience excitement was pretty contagious.
