I don't really see 1917 as a potential best picture win, best case I see is that it will clear up the technical categories and win director ala Gravity from few years ago. (unless 1917 wins the PGA but I don't see that happening, hell Joker has a better shot than 1917 there, even with a preferential ballot).

sike! Parasite needed this win (not sure how it lost cus it was literally the most circlejerked film by critics all year). I guess CC are just a sheep for the globes after all Bong got tied with Mendes for director but that seems like a random one off cus the DGA will almost certainly go for Mendes.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists/feinberg-forecast-oscars-2020-13-1267400 the way the Hollywood Reporter are predicting Uncut Gems for best picture but no Sandler for Actor
-
this list would be ideal but the Academy loves Scorsese too much to snub him.
-
will update it one last time after I see 1917, Little Women and Uncut Gems later this month but for now.
-
would love to see it but I don't think it's happening, it already missed the BAFTA and ASC. last year Cold War and Never Look Away broke into cinematography because the DoPs were veterans and Cold War hit multiple precursors as well (Never Look Away's DoP had 6 cinematography nominations). though I think Parasite has good chances of scoring a supporting actor nomination for Song Kang-Ho like how Roma did last year in supporting actress in addition to BA (and an outside chance of an original song nom).

my favorite biopic actor/actress Oscar win is Marion Cotillard in La Vie en rose for playing Edith Piaf. I think doing biopics is an easy Oscar bait way of getting noticed but there are some standout performances every once in a while.

Denzel Washington has 8 Oscar nominations but 0 BAFTA nods, is there a reason why the British Film Academy keeps refusing him? does any other actor has this many Oscar nods without BAFTAs
-
That's because Marvel movies are made by a committee, they're all producer-driven not director driven (and this isn't necessarily a bad thing it's how the MCU has managed to keep its quality consistent for almost a decade, and how they've built their fanbase over the years) It's always Feige's word over whoever's name follows "Directed by". So I'm sure whoever they bring in next to direct MoM will be up to Feige and the MCU's standards.

Fun fact since 1981 no best picture winner missed an editing nomination (with the exception of Birdman cus it was made to look like one take). roma missed that last year and If Parasite is to win it needs to get that (it already missed editing for the BAFTAs which is weird because the film has some of the best editing of the year).

white people in cinema are the default so it’s okay to be racist against them (they have enough awards) while POC are not (black people are not the only POC btw Asians, Arabs and Latinos exist).do you get it now ?
